Agent Allah

In a number of passages Allah is referred to as a wakil. For example:


S 3:173 Those to whom the people said: The people have gathered against you so fear them. But it increased them in faith and they said: Our sufficiency is Allah and excellent was the agent.


What does wakil mean? From Almaany:


وَكِيل : - قانُونِيّ

- attorney; attorney-at-law

وَكِيل : - نائِب، مُفَوَّض


- Authorized to be a represantitive - Allowed to take charge of someone - A person chosen or appointed to represent - A representative who is authorized (to do something) - A substitute of a person in a specific role - Authorized or empowerd by a commission or ordered (to do something) - Someone who has control of money or property that is in a trust for someone else - selected as; commissioner; deputy; fiduciary; mandatory; procurator; proxy; trustee; vice-; agent; nominated; surrogate; assigned; commissioned


وَكِيل : - مُشْرِف

- butler; major-domo; steward

وَكِيل : - تِجَارِيّ

- commission agent; dealer

وَكِيل : - مُمَثّل

- representative; factor


وَكِيل : - مُمَثِّل، شَخْصٌ يَقُومُ مَقَامَ غَيْرِه
