S 3:55 When Allah said: Isa, I am causing you to die and am raising you to me and purifying you of those who disbelieved and I am putting those who followed you above those who disbelieved to the day of resurrection. Then to me is your return and I judge between you concerning what you were differing in.
S 3:144 And Muhammad is nothing but a messenger. The messengers passed away before him. So if he dies or is killed, you turn back on your heels? And he who turns back on his heels will not harm Allah at all. And Allah will reward the grateful.
S 5:117 I did not tell them except what you commanded me: Worship Allah, my lord and your lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them and when you caused me to die you were the watchman over them and you are a witness over everything.

A hadith: Narrted Ibn `Abbas:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "You will be resurrected (and assembled) bare-footed, naked and uncircumcised." The Prophet (ﷺ) then recited the Divine Verse:-- "As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it: A promise We have undertaken. Truly we shall do it." (21.104) He added, "The first to be dressed will be Abraham. Then some of my companions will take to the right and to the left. I will say: 'My companions! 'It will be said, 'They had been renegades since you left them.' I will then say what the Pious Slave Jesus, the son of Mary said: 'And I was a witness over them while I dwelt amongst them; when You did take me up {tawaffaytani}, You were the Watcher over them, and You are a Witness to all things. If You punish them, they are Your slaves, and if you forgive them, You, only You are the All-Mighty the All-Wise.' " (5.117-118) Narrated Quaggas, "Those were the apostates who renegade from Islam during the Caliphate of Abu Bakr who fought them". https://sunnah.com/bukhari/60/117
Just as Isa died, the founder of Islam too died. Was the latter ‘taken up’? No, he is in his grave.
In Al-Tabari's tafsir for S 3:55 we read: عن ابن عبـاس، قوله: { إِنّي مُتَوَفِّيكَ } يقول: إنـي مـميتك. From Ibn Abbas His statement: {Inni mutawaffika} he says: I am causing you to die.
