1 Alif lam ra. That--signs of the wise book. 2 Was it a wonder for people that we inspired a man among them: Warn people and give good news to those who have believed that theirs is a step of truth with their lord? The kafirun said: This is an obvious magician. 3 Your lord is the one who created the skies and the Earth in six days then ascended the throne, arranging affairs. There is no intercessor except after his permission. That is Allah your lord, so worship him. So do you not remember? 4 To him is your return, altogether. Allah’s promise is true. He begins creation then repeats it to reward those who have believed and have done good deeds with equity. But those who have disbelieved, theirs is a drink of boiling water and painful torture because they used to disbelieve. 5 He is the one who made the sun a splendour and the moon a light and determined houses for it that you may know the number of years and the account. Allah did not create that but in truth. He details the signs for people who know. 6 In the difference of the night and the day and what Allah has created in the skies and the Earth are signs for people who fear. 7 Those who do not hope for our meeting and were pleased with the dunya life and were content with it and those are heedless of our verses. 8 Those--their shelter is the fire for what they used to earn. 9 Those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds, their lord guides them by their faith. Rivers run beneath them in the jannat of bliss. 10 Their invocation therein is: Praise be to you, Allahumma. And their greeting therein is: Peace. And the last of their invocation: Praise be to Lah, lord of the ‘alamin. 11 And if Allah hastens the evil for people, he has sought to hasten good for them, their term would have been decided for them. But we leave those who do not hope for our meeting wandering blindly in their oppression. 12 And when harm has touched man he has invoked us on his side or sitting or standing. But when we have removed his harm from him he has passed by as though he has not invoked us for harm that has touched him. Thus was adorned for the extravagant what they used to do. 13 And we destroyed the centuries before you when they wronged and their messengers came to them with the proofs and they would not believe. Thus do we recompense the criminal people. 14 Then we made you successors on the Earth after them that we might see how you do. 15 And when our verses are read to them as proofs, those who do not hope for our meeting have said: Bring a quran other than this or change it. Say: It is not for me to change it of the meeting of my soul. I do not follow but what I am inspired with. I fear if I disobey my lord the torture of a great day. 16 Say: Had Allah willed I would not have read it to you nor would he have made it known to you. So I have remained among you an age before it. So do you not comprehend? 17 So who is more unjust than he who has fabricated against Allah a lie or has called his verses a lie? The criminals do not succeed. 18 And they worship instead of Allah what does not harm them or benefit them and they say: These are our intercessors with Allah. Say: Do you inform Allah of what he does not know in the skies or on the Earth? Praise be to him and exalted from what they associate! 19 And people were not but one nation then they differed and had it not been for a word that had preceded from your lord it would have been decided between them concerning what they differ in. 20 And they say: Why has a sign from his lord not been sent down upon him? So say: The ghayb is only Lah’s, so wait. I am with you among those waiting. 21 And when we have made people taste mercy after adversity has touched them, behold, they have a deception against our verses. Say: Allah is quicker in deceiving. Our messengers write what you deceive. 22 He is the one who makes you roll round on the land and the sea until when you are on the ships and they run with them with a good wind and they rejoice therein, a stormy wind comes to them and the waves come to them from every place and they think that they are surrounded by them. They have invoked Allah sincerely towards him in religion: If you save us from this, we will be of the grateful. 23 But when he has saved them behold, they offend on the Earth without right. People, your offence is only against yourselves, the enjoyment of the dunya life. Then to us is your return then we inform you of what you used to do. 24 The similitude of the dunya life is only like water that we have sent down from the sky, so the vegetation of the Earth has been mixed with it from what people and cattle eat until when the Earth has taken its gold and has been adorned and its people have thought that they have power over it, our command has come to it by night or by day and we have made it a crop as though it had not availed yesterday. Thus do we detail the verses for people who ponder. 25 And Allah calls to the house of peace and guides whom he wills to a straight path. 26 For those who have done good, goodness and increase. Neither soot nor humiliation covers their faces. Those are the companions of the Jannah; they abide therein indefinitely. 27 And those who have earned the evil deeds, recompense of an evil deed with the like of it and humiliation covers them. They have no defender from Allah. As though their faces had been covered with a piece of the night. Dark. Those are the companions of the fire. They abide therein indefinitely. 28 And on a day we gather them all then we say to those who have associated: Your place, you and your partners. Then we separated between them and their partners said: You did not used to worship us. 29 So sufficient was Allah as a witness between us and you that we were unaware of your worship. 30 There was tried every soul for what it had bestowed and they were returned to Allah their true mawla and stray from them did what they used to fabricate. 31 Say: Who provides you from the sky and the Earth? Or who possesses hearing and eyesight? And who brings out the living man from the dead one and brings out the dead man from the living one? And who arranges the matter? So they will say: Allah. Then say: So do you not fear? 32 So that is Allah, your true lord. So what is after the truth but the error? So how you are turned away! 33 Thus your lord’s word was confirmed upon those who had acted immorally, that they do not believe. 34 Say: Is there of your partners he who begins creation then repeats it? Say: Allah begins creation then repeats it. So how are you deluded? 35 Say: Is there of your partners he who guides to the truth? Say: Allah guides to the truth. Is then he who guides to the truth worthier of being followed or he who does not guide except that he be guided? Then what is wrong with you, how do you judge? 36 And most of them follow nothing but assumption. Assumption does not avail against the truth at all. Allah is learned in what they do. 37 And this quran was not to be fabricated instead of Allah but a confirmation of that in front of it and an analysis of the Book. There is no doubt concerning it, from the lord of the ‘alamin. 38 Or do they say: He has fabricated it? Say: Bring a surah the like of it and invoke whom you can instead of Allah if you are truthful. 39 Rather, they have called what they have not encompassed in its knowledge a lie and when its interpretation comes to them. Thus did those before them accuse of lying so see how the result of the wrongdoers was. 40 And of them is he who believes in it and of them he who does not believe in it. And your lord knows the corrupters. 41 And if they have accused you of lying, say: Mine is my deed and yours is your deed. You are free of what I do and I am free of what you do. 42 And among them is he who listens to you. Do you then make the deaf hear even though they were not comprehending? 43 And among them is he who looks at you. Do you then guide the blind even though they were not seeing? 44 Allah does not wrong people at all but people wrong themselves. 45 And on a day he gathers them as though they had not remained but an hour of the day. They recognise one another among them. Those who have said that Allah’s meeting was a lie have lost and they were not guided. 46 And whether we show you some of that which we promise them or we cause you to die, to us is their return. Then Allah is a witness over what they do. 47 And for every nation there is a messenger. So when their messenger came to them it was judged among them with equity and they are not wronged. 48 And they say: When is this promise if you are truthful? 49 Say: I do not possess harm for myself nor benefit except what Allah has willed. Every nation has a term. When their term has come they do not postpone an hour nor do they precede. 50 Say: Have you seen if his torture came to you by night or by day what the criminals seek to hasten of it? 51 Is then when what has come into being you have believed in it now? And you were seeking to hasten with it. 52 Then it was said to those who wronged: Taste the torture of perpetuity. Are you recompensed but for what you used to earn? 53 And they ask you to inform. Is it true? Say: Yes, by my lord. It is true and you do not escape. 54 And if every soul that had wronged had what is on the Earth, it would have ransomed with it. And they concealed the regret when they saw the torture. And it was decided among them with equity and they are not wronged. 55 Indeed, Lah’s is what is in the skies and the Earth. Indeed, Allah’s promise is true. But most of them do not know. 56 He vivifies and causes to die and to him are you returned. 57 People, an admonition has come to you from your lord and healing for what is in the chests and guidance and mercy for the believers. 58 Say: By Allah’s favour and by his mercy! So in that let them rejoice. It is better than what they gather. 59 Say: Have you seen what Allah has sent down to you of provision and you have made of it haram and halal? Say: Has Allah permitted you or do you fabricate concerning Allah? 60 And what is the assumption of those who fabricate the lie against Allah on the day of resurrection? Allah is the one of favour to people but most of them are not grateful 61 And you are not in a matter nor do you read of it from a quran nor do you do any deed but we were witnesses over you when you pour out in it. And not the weight of a red ant escapes from your lord on the Earth or in the sky or smaller than that or bigger but is in a clear book. 62 Indeed, Allah’s protectors--there is no fear upon them nor do they grieve. 63 Those who have believed and were fearing. 64 Theirs is the good news in the dunya life and in the hereafter. There is no change to Allah’s words. That is the great win. 65 And let their speech not grieve you. Honour is Lah’s, all. He is the hearer, the learned. 66 Indeed, Lah’s is who is in the skies and who is on the Earth. And those who invoke instead of Allah do not follow partners. They follow nothing but assumption and they do nothing but guess. 67 He is the one who made for you the night to dwell in and the day, insightful. In that are signs for people who hear. 68 They have said: Allah has taken a child. Praise be to him! He is the rich. His is what is in the skies and what is on the Earth. You have no authority in this. Do you say about Allah what you do not know? 69 Say: Those who fabricate the lie against Allah do not succeed. 70 Enjoyment in the dunya then to us is their return. Then we make them taste the severe torture because they used to disbelieve. 71 And read to them Nuh’s news when he said to his people: People, if my station and my recollection of Allah’s verses were big upon you, then in Allah have I put my trust. So agree unanimously on your affair and your partners. Then do not let your affair be gloominess upon you. Then decide for me and do not give me respite. 72 But if you turn away then I have not asked you for any wage. My wage is nothing but upon Allah and I have been commanded to be of the Muslims. 73 But they called him a liar so we saved him and him who was with him in the ship and we made them successors and we drowned those who called our signs a lie. So see how the result of the warned was. 74 Then we raised after him messengers to their people and they came to them with the proofs. But they would not believe in what they had called a lie before. Thus do we stamp the hearts of the transgressors. 75 Then we raised after them Musa and Harun to Fir’awn and his chiefs with our signs but they were arrogant and were a criminal people. 76 So when the truth came to them from us they said: This is obvious magic. 77 Musa said: Do you say of the truth when it has come to you: Is this magic?? But the magicians do not succeed. 78 They said: Have you come to us to draw us from what we found our fathers on and that you two may have pride in the land? And we are not believers in you two. 79 And Fir’awn said: Bring me every learned magician. 80 So when the magicians came Musa said to them: Throw what you are throwing. 81 Then when they had thrown Musa said: What you have brought is magic. Allah will cancel it. Allah does not reform the work of the corrupters. 82 And Allah establishes the truth by his words, even if the criminals dislike it. 83 But none believed Musa but offspring of his people for fear of Fir’awn and their chiefs lest they try them. And Fir’awn was severe in the land and he is of the extravagant. 84 And Musa said: People, if you have believed in Allah then in him put your trust, if you are Muslims. 85 Then they said: In Allah do we put our trust. Our lord, do not make us fitnah for the wrongdoing people. 86 And save us by your mercy from the kafirun people. 87 And we inspired Musa and his brother: Settle your people in Egypt in houses and make your houses a qiblah and perform salat and give good news to the believers. 88 And Musa said: Our lord, you have given Fir’awn and his chiefs adornment and monies in the dunya life. Our lord, to misguide from your way. Our lord, obliterate their monies and harden their hearts so that they do not believe until they see the painful torture. 89 He said: Your invocation has been answered so be straight. And do not follow the way of those who do not know. 90 And we passed beyond the sea with the Banu Isra’il and Fir’awn and his troops followed them in rebellion and enmity until when the drowning came suddenly upon them, he said: I have believed that there is no god but the one whom the Banu Isra’il has believed in and I am of the Muslims. 91 Now? And you disobeyed before and were of the corrupters. 92 So today we save you in your body that you may be to him who has succeeded you a sign. And a lot of people are heedless of our signs. 93 And we lodged the Banu Isra’il in a lodging of truth and provided them from the good things and they did not differ until the knowledge had come to them. Your lord decides between them on the day of resurrection concerning what they used to differ in. 94 And if you are in doubt as to what we have sent down to you, ask those who have been reading the Book before you. The truth has come to you from your lord so do not be of the doubters. 95 And do not be of those who have said that Allah’s verses were a lie then you would be of the losers. 96 Those upon whom your lord’s word has been confirmed do not believe. 97 Even if every sign had come to them until they see the painful torture. 98 So were it not that a village had believed and its faith benefited it except Yunus’ people? When they believed we removed the torture of disgrace from them in the dunya life and amused them for a time. 99 And had your lord willed, those on the Earth would have believed, all of them together. Will you then compel people until they are believers? 100 And it was not for a soul to believe except with Allah’s permission; and he puts rijs on those who do not comprehend. 101 Say: See what is in the skies and the Earth. And the signs and the nudhur do not avail a people who do not believe. 102 Then do they wait except the like of the days of those before them? Say: Then wait. I am with you among those waiting. 103 Then we save our messengers and those who have believed. Thus it is law for us to save the believers. 104 Say: People, if you are in doubt of my religion, then I do not worship those whom you worship instead of Allah but I worship Allah, the one who causes you to die. And I have been commanded to be of the believers. 105 And: Direct your face to the religion as a Hanif and do not be of the mushrikun. 106 And do not invoke instead of Allah what does not benefit you or harm you. But if you do so you will then be of the wrongdoers. 107 And if Allah touches you with harm, there is no remover of it but him and if he wants good for you, there is no repeller of his favour. He strikes with it whom he wills of his slaves. And he is the forgiver, the merciful. 108 Say: People, the truth has come to you from your lord. So he who was guided, he is only guided for his soul and he who has strayed, he only strays against it. And I am not an agent over you. 109 And follow what you are inspired with and be patient until Allah judges. And he is the best of judges.
