1 Alif lam mim ra. Those are the signs of the book. And that which has been sent down to you from your lord is the truth but most people do not believe. 2 Allah is the one who raised the skies without columns that you see. Then he ascended the throne and subjected the sun and the moon, each running for a fixed term. He arranges the matter, he details the signs; perhaps you will be certain of the meeting of your lord. 3 And he is the one who spread the Earth and put therein stabilisers and rivers. And of all the fruits he made two pairs in them. He covers the night with the day. In that there are signs for people who ponder. 4 And on the Earth are bordering divisions and jannat of grapes and plantations and date palms, trees growing from a single root and not growing from a single root, watered with one water. And we prefer some of them to others in food. In that there are signs for people who comprehend. 5 And if you wonder then a wonder is their speech: When we were dirt are we in a new creation? Those are the ones who have disbelieved in their lord and those, the collars are on their necks and those are the companions of the fire. They abide therein indefinitely. 6 And they ask you to hasten the evil before the good and the body mutilations have passed away before them. And your lord is the possessor of forgiveness for people for their wrongdoing and your lord is the severe in punishment. 7 And those who have disbelieved say: Why has a sign from his lord not been sent down upon him? You are only a warner and every people has a guide. 8 Allah knows what every female carries and what the wombs fall short of and what they increase. And everything with him is in amount. 9 Knowing the ghayb and the testimony, the big, the haughty. 10 Equal among you is he who has kept the speech secret and he who has published it and he who belittles by night and seeps by day. 11 He has mu’aqqibat in front of him and behind him who guard him from Allah’s command. Allah does not change what is with a people until they change what is with themselves. And when Allah has wanted evil with a people there is no cause for it and they have no governor instead of him. 12 He is the one who shows you the lightning, a fear and greed and creates the heavy clouds. 13 And the thunder glorifies with his praise and the angels for fear of him. And he sends the thunderbolts and strikes therewith whom he wills. And they argue about Allah. And he is severe in injury. 14 To him is the supplication of the truth. And those who invoke instead of him do not respond to them with a thing except like one who stretches his palms towards the water that his mouth may reach and it does not reach it. And the supplication of the kafirun is nothing but in error. 15 And to Lah do sujud those in the skies and the Earth, willingly and unwillingly, and their shadows in the morning errand and the late afternoons. 16 Say: Who is the lord of the skies and the Earth? Say: Allah. Say: So have you taken protectors instead of him, not possessing benefit for themselves nor harm? Say: Are the blind man and the sighted equal? Or are the darknesses and the light equal? Or have they made partners for Lah, who created like his creation so that creation resembled to them? Say: Allah is the creator of everything and he is the one, the oppressing. 17 He has sent down from the sky water and valleys have flown by their quantity and the stream has carried rising foam. And from what they kindle on it in the fire to seek a bijou or pleasure, scum the like of it. Thus does Allah give the truth and the falsehood. And as for the scum, it passes away as dross. And as for what benefits people, it remains in the Earth. Thus does Allah give the similitudes. 18 For those who have responded to their lord there is kindness. And those who have not responded to him, had they what is on the Earth, all, and the like of it with it, they would have ransomed with it. Those, theirs is the evil of the account and their shelter is Jahannam and miserable was the bed. 19 So is he who knows that which has been sent down to you from your lord is the truth like the one who is a blind man? Only the possessors of albab remember. 20 Those who keep Allah’s covenant and do not break the compact. 21 And those who join what Allah has commanded to be joined and fear their lord and are afraid of the evil of the account. 22 And those who were patient, seeking their lord’s face, and have performed salat and spent of what we have provided them with secretly and openly and they repel evil with good. Those, theirs is the result of the home: 23 Jannat of ‘Adn, entering them and those who were righteous among their fathers and their husbands and their offsprings. And the angels enter upon them from every gate. 24 Peace be upon you for what you were patient with. So excellent was the result of the home. 25 And those who break Allah’s covenant after his compact and cut what Allah has commanded to be joined and corrupt on the Earth. Those, theirs is the curse and theirs the evil of the home. 26 Allah extends the provision for whom he wills and has power. And they have rejoiced in the dunya life and the dunya life is nothing in the hereafter but enjoyment. 27 And those who have disbelieved say: Why has a sign not been sent down upon him from his lord? Say: Allah misguides whom he wills and guides to him he who has turned. 28 Those who have believed and their hearts are content with Allah’s dhikr. Indeed, hearts are content with Allah’s dhikr. 29 Those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds, blessedness is theirs and goodness of a resort. 30 Thus have we sent you into a nation. Nations have passed away before it that you may read to them that which we have inspired you with when they disbelieve in Al-Rahman. Say: He is my lord, there is no god but him. In him have I put my trust and to him is a repenting. 31 And were there a quran that the mountains were rolled round by or the Earth cut by or the dead spoken to by… Rather, Lah’s is all the command. So have those who have believed not despaired that if Allah willed he would have guided all people? And those who have disbelieved still strike them for what they have done, a calamity, or it resides close to their home until Allah’s promise comes. Allah does not break the appointment. 32 And messengers before you were mocked but I gave respite to those who had disbelieved then I took them and how a punishment was! 33 So is he who is resting on every soul with what it has earned…? And they have made partners for Lah. Say: Name them. Or do you inform him of what he does not know on the Earth or of the apparent of speech? Rather it has been adorned for those who have disbelieved, their deception, and they have been blocked from the way. And he whom Allah misguides has no guide. 34 Theirs is torture in the dunya life and the torture of the hereafter is tougher. And they have no preserver against Allah. 35 The similitude of the Jannah which the fearers have been promised, rivers run beneath it. Its food is lasting and its shade. That is the result of those who have feared and the result of the kafirun is the fire. 36 And those we gave the Book to rejoice over what has been sent down to you and among the parties is he who denies some of it. Say: I have only been commanded to worship Allah and not to associate with him. To him I call and to him is a repenting. 37 And thus have we sent it down as an Arabic precept. And if you follow their desires after what has come to you of knowledge, you have no protector or preserver against Allah. 38 And we sent messengers before you and made them husbands and offspring. And it was not for a messenger to bring a sign except with Allah’s permission. For every term a book. 39 Allah erases what he wills and restrains. And with him is the mother of the book. 40 And whether what we show you some of that we promise them or cause you to die, only upon you is the notice. And upon us the account. 41 Have they not seen that we come to the Earth reducing it from its edges? And Allah judges. There is no returner for his judgment. And he is quick in account. 42 And those before them deceived but Lah’s is all the deception. He knows what every soul earns and the kuffar will know for whom the consequence of the house is. 43 And those who have disbelieved say: You are not a commissary. Say: Sufficient was Allah as a witness between me and you and he who has the knowledge of the book.
