1 Alif lam ra. A book we have sent down to you that you may bring out people from the darknesses into the light, with their lord’s permission, to the path of the mighty, the praiseworthy, 2 Allah, the one whose is what is in the skies and what is on the Earth. And woe to the kafirun from severe torture. 3 Those who prefer the dunya life to the hereafter and prevent from the way of Allah and seek crookedness in it, those are in far error. 4 And we have not sent any messenger except with the tongue of his people to clarify for them. And Allah misguides whom he wills and guides whom he wills. And he is the mighty, the wise. 5 And we sent Musa with our signs: Bring your people out from the darknesses into the light. And remind them of the days of Allah. In that are signs for every patient, grateful man. 6 And when Musa said to his people: Remember Allah’s grace upon you when he saved you from Fir’awn’s family, imposing the evil of torture upon you and slaughtering your sons and letting your women live. And in that is a great affliction from your lord. 7 And when your lord proclaimed: If you are grateful I shall increase you, but if you are ungrateful my torture is severe. 8 And Musa said: If you disbelieve, you and who are in the land, all, then Allah is rich, praiseworthy. 9 Has the news of those before you, Nuh’s people and Ad’s and Thamud’s, and those after them not come to you? None knows them but Allah. Their messengers came to them with proofs but they returned their hands to their mouths and said: We have disbelieved in what you have been sent with and we are in doubt about what you call us to, doubtful. 10 Their messengers said: Is there doubt concerning Allah, the splitter of the skies and the Earth? He calls you to forgive you your sins and to postpone for you for a designated term. They said: You are nothing but human beings like us; you want to prevent us from what our fathers used to worship, so bring us clear authority. 11 Their messengers said to them: We are nothing but human beings the like of you but Allah is benevolent to whom he wills of his slaves. And it was not ours to bring you authority except with Allah’s permission. And in Allah let the believers put their trust. 12 And it is not for us not to put our trust in Allah and he has guided us to our ways. And we will be patient with what you have harmed us with. And in Allah let the trusters trust. 13 And those who had disbelieved said to their messengers: You will expel us from our land or return to our cult. So their lord inspired them: We will destroy the wrongdoers. 14 And we will settle you in the land after them. That is for him who has feared my station and has feared a threat. 15 And they sought conquest and every stubborn tyrant failed. 16 Behind him is Jahannam and he is given purulent water to drink. 17 He gulps it and almost does not swallow it. And death comes to him from every place and he is not going to die. And behind him is thick torture. 18 The similitude of those who have disbelieved in their lord, their deeds are like ash that the wind has been more vehement with on a stormy day. They do not have power of what they have earned over anything. That is the far error. 19 Have you not seen that Allah created the skies and the Earth in truth? If he wills he will remove you and bring a new creation. 20 And that is not a great thing for Allah. 21 And they all came forth to Lah and the weak said to those who had been arrogant: We were followers of yours so are you availing us from Allah’s torture at all? They said: Had Allah guided us we would have guided you. It is equal to us whether we were anxious or we were patient. We have no escape. 22 And the Devil said when the matter had been decided: Allah promised you the promise of truth and I promised you but I broke my promise to you. And I had no authority over you except that I called you and you responded to me. So do not blame me and blame yourselves. I am not your helper and you are not my helper. I have disbelieved in what you have associated me before. The wrongdoers, theirs is painful torture. 23 And those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds have been admitted to jannat, rivers running beneath them, abiding therein indefinitely with their lord’s permission. Their greeting therein is Peace. 24 Have you not seen how Allah has made a similitude: A good word is like a good tree, its origin is fixed and its branch is in the sky? 25 It gives its food all the time with permission of its lord. And Allah gives the similitudes to people; perhaps they will remember. 26 And a similitude of a malignant word is like a malignant tree that has been uprooted from above the Earth, not having any steadiness. 27 Allah fixes those who have believed with the fixed speech in the dunya life and in the hereafter. And Allah misguides the wrongdoers. And Allah does what he wills. 28 Have you not seen those who have changed Allah’s grace into kufr and settled their people at the home of wasteland? 29 Jahannam, they roast it and miserable was the domicile. 30 And they have made peers for Lah to misguide from his way. Say: Amuse yourselves but your destiny is to the fire. 31 Say to my slaves, those who have believed, to perform the salat and to spend of what we have provided them with secretly and publicly before a day comes wherein there is no selling or friendship. 32 Allah is the one who created the skies and the Earth and sent down water from the sky then brought out therewith some of the fruits as provision for you and subjected to you the ships that they might run in the sea by his command and subjected to you the rivers 33 And subjected to you the sun and the moon, assiduous, and subjected to you the night and the day. 34 And he gave you of all what you asked of him. And if you count Allah’s grace you will not enumerate it. Man is a wrongdoer, ungrateful. 35 And when Ibrahim said: Lord, make this country safe and remove me and my sons that we worship idols. 36 Lord. They have misguided many of people, so he who has followed me, he is of me and he who has disobeyed me, you are a forgiver, merciful. 37 Our lord. I have settled some of my offspring in a valley without plantation before your forbidden house, our lord, that they might perform the salat. So make the hearts of people lean towards them and provide them from the fruits; perhaps they will thank. 38 Our lord. You know what we conceal and what we reveal. And nothing is hidden from Allah on the Earth or in the sky. 39 Praise be to Lah who has given me in old age Isma’il and Ishaq. My lord is the hearer of invocation. 40 Lord, make me the performer of salat and of my offspring. Our lord, and accept invocation. 41 Our lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers on a day the account comes. 42 And do not think Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only postpones them to a day whereon the eyesight stares. 43 Craning their necks, their heads lifted up, not returning their gaze towards them and their hearts a void. 44 And warn people of a day the torture comes to them and those who have wronged say: Our lord, postpone us to a near term. We will answer your call and we will follow the messengers. Did you not swear before you have no end? 45 And you dwelt in the dwellings of those who had wronged themselves and it became clear to you how we acted with them and we gave you the similitudes. 46 And they made their deception and their deception is with Allah and if their deception was that the mountains should disappear by means of it… 47 So do not think Allah is breaking his promise to his messengers. Allah is mighty, a possessor of vengeance. 48 On a day the Earth is changed other than the Earth and the skies and they came forth to Lah, the one, the oppressing. 49 And you see the criminals on that day linked in shackles. 50 Their garments of tar and the fire covers their faces. 51 That Allah may recompense every soul for what it has earned. Allah is the quick of account. 52 This is a notice for people and that they may be warned thereby and that they may know that he is only one god and that the possessors of albab may remember.
