1 Allah’s command has come so do not ask to hasten it. Praise be to him and exalted above what they associate! 2 He sends down the angels with the spirit of his command upon whom he wills of his slaves: Warn that there is no god but me so fear. 3 He created the skies and the Earth in truth. Exalted be he above what they associate. 4 He created man from a drop so behold, he is an obvious adversary. 5 And cattle, he created them for you; in them is warmth and benefits and of them you eat. 6 And for you in them is beauty when you bring them in and when you take them out. 7 And they carry your loads to a country that you would not reach except with trouble for souls. Your lord is kind, merciful. 8 And horses and mules and donkeys for you to ride them and as adornment. And he creates what you do not know. 9 And on Allah is the aim of the way. And among them is one who treats cruelly. And had he willed he would have guided you all. 10 He is the one who has sent down water from the sky for you. Of it is drink. Of it are trees in which you pasture. 11 He causes fields and olive trees and date palms and grapes to grow for you by it and of all the fruits. In that there is a sign for people who ponder. 12 And he has subjected for you the night and the day and the sun and the moon and the stars are subjected by his command. In that there are signs for people who comprehend. 13 And what he has increased for you on the Earth of different colours. In that there is a sign for people who remember. 14 And he is the one who has subjected the sea that you may eat fresh meat from it and bring out a bijou from it to wear. And you see ships ploughing in it and to seek of his favour and perhaps you will thank. 15 And he threw stabilisers into the Earth lest it shake with you and rivers and ways; perhaps you will be guided. 16 And marks. And by the star are they guided. 17 So is he who creates like him who does not create? So do you not remember? 18 And if you should count Allah’s grace you would not enumerate it. Allah is a forgiver, merciful. 19 And Allah knows what you keep secret and what you announce. 20 And those they invoke instead of Allah do not create anything and they are created. 21 Dead, lifeless. And they do not perceive when they are raised. 22 Your god is one god. But those who do not believe in the hereafter, their hearts are rejecting and they are arrogant. 23 There is no offence that Allah knows what they hide and what they announce. He does not love the arrogant. 24 And when it was said to them: What has your lord sent down? they said: The tales of the first ones. 25 That they may bear their burdens in full on the day of resurrection and some of the burdens of those whom they misguided without knowledge. Indeed, evil was what they bear. 26 Those before them deceived but Allah came to their building from the foundations and the roof above them fell on them and the torture came to them from where they do not perceive. 27 Then on the day of resurrection he disgraces them and says: Where are my partners for whom you would oppose? Those who had been given knowledge said: The disgrace today and the evil are on the kafirun. 28 Those whom the angels cause to die, wrongdoers of themselves then they offered submission. We were not doing any evil. No, Allah is learned in what you used to do. 29 So enter the gates of Jahannam, abiding therein indefinitely. And miserable was the abode of the arrogant. 30 And it was said to those who had feared: What did your lord send down? They said: Good. For those who have done good in this dunya there is a good and the home of the hereafter is better. And excellent was the home of the fearers. 31 Jannat of ‘Adn which they enter, rivers running beneath them. Theirs therein is what they will. Thus does Allah recompense the fearers. 32 Those whom the angels cause to die as agreeable men saying: Peace be upon you. Enter the Jannah for what you used to do. 33 Are they looking except that the angels should come to them or your lord’s command should come? Thus did those before them. And Allah did not wrong them but they would wrong themselves. 34 Then evil things of what they did hit them and what they would mock surrounded them. 35 And those who have associated have said: Had Allah willed we would not have worshipped anything instead of him, we nor our fathers nor would we have forbidden anything instead of him. Thus did those before them. So is there anything upon the messengers but the clear notice? 36 And we raised in every nation a messenger: Worship Allah and avoid the taghut. Then among them he whom Allah guided and among them he whom the straying was confirmed against. So travel on the Earth and see how the result of those who accused of lying was. 37 If you desire their guidance, Allah does not guide him whom he misguides and they have no helpers. 38 And they have sworn by Allah the strongest of their oaths, Allah would not raise him who dies. No, a promise upon him indeed but most people do not know. 39 That he may make clear to them that which they differ about and that he may know those who have disbelieved that they were liars. 40 Our speech to a thing when we have wanted it is only that we say to it: Be, and it is. 41 And those who have emigrated in Allah after what they have been wronged, we provide them with good in the dunya and the wage of the hereafter is bigger, if they knew. 42 Those who have been patient and put their trust in their lord. 43 And we did not send before you but men. We inspire them. So ask the People of the Dhikr if you do not know. 44 With the proofs and the Zubur. And we sent down to you the Dhikr to make clear for people what has been sent down to them and perhaps they will ponder. 45 So have those who have deceived the evil deeds felt secure that Allah will sink the Earth with them or the torture will come to them from where they do not perceive? 46 Or he will take them in their inconsistency then they are not going to escape? 47 Or he will take them on anxiety? But your lord is kind, merciful. 48 Have they not looked to what Allah has created of a thing? Its shadows incline from the right and the lefts, doing sujud to Lah while lowly. 49 And to Lah does sujud what is in the skies and what is on the Earth of beast and the angels and they are not arrogant. 50 They fear their lord above them and do what they are commanded. 51 And Allah said: Do not take two gods. He is only one god so me, so fear me. 52 And his is what is in the skies and the Earth and his is the religion, lasting. So do you fear other than Allah? 53 And what you have of grace is from Allah. Then when harm has touched you to him you low. 54 Then when he has removed the harm from you behold, a party of you associate with their lord 55 To disbelieve in what we have given them. So enjoy and you will know. 56 And they assign a share of what we have provided them with for what they do not know. By Allah, you shall be asked about what you used to fabricate! 57 And they assign to Lah the daughters. Praise be to him! And they have what they desire. 58 And when one of them has been given the good news of a female his face keeps turning black and he is grieved. 59 He conceals himself from people because of the evil of what he has been given good news of. Does he hang on to it in shame or does he bury it in the dirt? Indeed, evil was what they judge. 60 For those who do not believe in the hereafter a similitude of the evil and for Lah the highest similitude. And he is the mighty, the wise. 61 And were Allah to take people for their wrongdoing, he would not leave upon it any beast but he postpones them to a fixed term. Then when their term has come they do not postpone an hour nor advance. 62 And they assign to Lah what they hate and their tongues describe the lie that they have the finest. There is no offence that they have the fire and that they are overexploited. 63 By Allah, we sent to nations before you but the Devil adorned for them their deeds. So he is their protector today and theirs is painful torture. 64 And we did not send down upon you the book except that you may make clear to them that which they have differed about and as guidance and mercy for people who believe. 65 And Allah has sent down water from the sky and vivified therewith the Earth after its death. In that there is a sign for people who hear. 66 And you have in cattle a lesson. We give you to drink from what is in its bellies, from between dung and blood, milk, unadulterated, palatable to the drinkers. 67 And from the fruits of the date palm and grapes you take therefrom an intoxicant and a good provision. In that there is a sign for people who comprehend. 68 And your lord inspired the bees: Take houses from the mountains and from the trees and from what they build up. 69 Then eat from all the fruits and travel along your lord’s ways, compliant ones. A drink, its colours varying, comes out of their bellies. Therein is healing for people. In that there is a sign for people who reflect. 70 And Allah created you then he causes you to die. And among you is he who is returned to the viler of age so that he does not know anything after knowledge. Allah is learned, capable. 71 And Allah has preferred some of you to others in the provision. But those who were preferred are not going to hand over their provision to what their right hands have possessed so that are equal therein. So do they reject Allah’s grace? 72 And Allah has made for you from yourselves husbands and has made for you from your husbands sons and grandsons and has provided you from the good things. So in falsehood do they believe and in Allah’s grace they disbelieve? 73 And they worship instead of Allah what does not possess provision for them from the skies and the Earth at all and are not able. 74 So do not coin the similitudes for Lah. Allah knows and you do not know. 75 Allah has coined a similitude, a slave who is owned who has no power over anything and him whom we have given a good provision from us so he spends of it secretly and publicly. Are they equal? Praise be to Lah! Rather, most of them do not know. 76 And Allah has coined a similitude of two men. One of them dumb who has no power over anything and he is a fatigue on his mawla. Wherever he sends him he does not bring good. Are equal he and and he who commands with justice and he is on a straight path? 77 And Lah’s is the ghayb of the skies and the Earth. And the matter of the Hour is nothing but as a jiffy or it is nearer. Allah is mighty over everything. 78 And Allah brought you out from your mothers’ bellies not knowing anything and made for you hearing and eyesight and hearts. Perhaps you will thank. 79 Have they not looked at the bird subjected in the air of the sky? None holds them but Allah. In that there are signs for people who believe. 80 And Allah has made for you of your houses a habitation and made for you from the hides of cattle houses which you consider light on the day of your decamping and the day of your stopping; and from their fleeces and their furs and their pelts is furnishing and enjoyment for a time. 81 And Allah has made for you shadows from what he has created and has made for you of the mountains shelters and has made for you garments to protect you from the heat and garments to protect you from your horribleness. Thus does he perfect his grace upon you; perhaps you will surrender. 82 Then if they have turned away only the clear notice is upon you. 83 They recognise Allah’s grace then they deny it. And most of them are the kafirun. 84 And on a day we raise from every nation a witness then he is not permitted for those who have disbelieved and they are not asked for favour. 85 And when those who have done wrong have seen the torture it is not lightened from them nor are they looked at. 86 And when those who have associated have seen their partners they said: Our lord, these are our partners whom we used to invoke instead of you. Then they threw the speech to them: You are liars. 87 And they threw to Allah on that day the submission and was lost from them what they used to fabricate. 88 Those who disbelieved and blocked from the way of Allah, we increased them in torture above the torture because they used to corrupt. 89 And on a day we raise in every nation a witness over them from themselves. And we brought you as a witness over these. And we sent down upon you the book as clarification for everything and as guidance and mercy and good news for the Muslims. 90 Allah commands justice and the doing of good and giving to relatives and forbids fahisha and baseness and oppression. He advises you; perhaps you will remember. 91 And keep Alah’s covenant when you have covenanted and do not break the oaths after their confirmation and you have made Allah a guarantor over you. Allah knows what you do. 92 And do not be like the one who broke her yarn after strength into undone strands. You take your oaths as a mental defect among you because a nation has grown than a nation. Allah only tests you thereby. And he shall make clear to you on the day of resurrection what you used to differ in. 93 And had Allah willed he would have made you one nation but he misguides whom he wills and guides whom he wills. And you shall be asked about what you used to do. 94 And do not take your oaths as a mental defect among you that a foot should slip after its being fixed and you taste the evil for what you have blocked from the way of Allah and you have great torture. 95 And do not buy Allah’s covenant at a low price. What is with Allah, it is better for you if you were knowing. 96 What is with you runs out and what is with Allah remains. And we will recompense those who were patient. Their wage with the best of what they used to do. 97 He who has done a righteous deed, whether male or female, and he is a believer, we will vivify him with a good life and recompense them their wage with the best of what they used to do. 98 So when you have read the Quran seek refuge in Allah from the rajim Devil. 99 He has no authority over those who have believed and who put their trust in their lord. 100 His authority is only over those who make him a protector and those who associate with him. 101 And when we have changed a verse for a verse, and Allah is a knower of what he sends down, they have said: You are only a fabricator. Rather, most of them do not know. 102 Say: The Holy Spirit has sent it down from your lord in truth to make those who have believed firm and as guidance and good news for the Muslims. 103 And we know that they say: Only a human being teaches him. The tongue of the one they refer to is foreign but this is a clear Arabic tongue. 104 Those who do not believe in Allah’s verses, Allah does not guide them and theirs is painful torture. 105 Those who do not believe in Allah’s verses only fabricate a lie, and those are the liars. 106 He who has disbelieved in Allah after his faith except him who has been compelled when his heart is confident in the faith but those who have expanded their chest to kufr, then upon them is anger from Allah and theirs is great torture. 107 That is because they have preferred the dunya life to the hereafter and that Allah does not guide the kafirun people. 108 Those are the ones whose hearts and hearing and eyesight Allah has sealed. And those, they are the heedless. 109 There is no doubt that they in the hereafter are the losers. 110 Then your lord to those who had emigrated after what they had been tried then waged jihad and were patient. Your lord thereafter is a forgiver, merciful. 111 On a day every soul comes arguing for itself and every soul is paid in full for what it had done and they are not wronged. 112 And Allah has coined a similitude of a village that was secure, confident, its provision coming to it opulently from every place but it disbelieved in Allah’s graces so Allah made it taste the garment of hunger and fear for what they used to do. 113 And a messenger among them came to them but they called him a liar so the torture took them when they were wrongdoers. 114 So eat of what Allah has provided you with, halal, good. And be grateful for Allah’s grace, if you worship him. 115 He has only forbidden you the dead animal and blood and pork and what has been offered to other than Allah. But one who is forced, not desiring or an enemy, then Allah is a forgiver, merciful. 116 And do not say a lie for what your tongues describe: This is halal and this is haram to fabricate a lie against Allah. Those who fabricate a lie against Allah do not succeed. 117 A little enjoyment and theirs is painful torture. 118 And for those who were Jewish we forbade what we related to you before. And we did not wrong them but they would wrong themselves. 119 Then your lord to those who did evil in ignorance then repented after that and reformed, your lord thereafter is a forgiver, merciful. 120 Ibrahim was a nation, obedient to Lah, a Hanif, and was not of the mushrikun. 121 Grateful for his graces. He chose him and guided him to a straight path. 122 And we gave him good in the dunya and he in the hereafter is of the righteous. 123 Then we inspired you: Follow the cult of Ibrahim, a Hanif. And he was not of the mushrikun. 124 The Sabbath was only appointed for those who had differed concerning it. And your lord judges between them on the day of resurrection concerning what they used to differ about. 125 Call to your lord’s way with wisdom and good exhortation and argue with them in that which is best. Your lord, he is a knower of him who has strayed from his way and he is a knower of the guided. 126 And if you punish then punish with the like of what you have been punished with. And if you are patient, it is better for the patient. 127 And be patient and your patience is not but with Allah. And do not grieve for them and do not be in distress from what they deceive. 128 Allah is with those who have feared and those who are good-doers.
