1 Praise be to the one who travelled by night with his slave at night from the Sacred Mosque to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, whose precincts we have blessed, to show him from our signs. He is the hearer, the seer. 2 And we gave Musa the Book and made it guidance for the Banu Isra'il: Not to take an agent instead of me. 3 Offspring of one we carried with Nuh. He was a grateful slave. 4 And we preordained to the Banu Isra’il in the Book: You shall corrupt in the land twice and be exalted in big exaltedness. 5 So when the promise of the first of them came we raised against you slaves of ours, possessors of severe horribleness and they explored the midst of the homes and a promise was done. 6 Then we returned the raid to you over them. And we extended you with monies and sons and made you more of a company. 7 If you have done good, you have done good for your souls and if you have done evil, then for it. So when the promise of the last came that they might grieve your faces and that they might enter the mosque as they had entered it the first time and that they might destroy what they had covered in destruction. 8 Perhaps your lord will have mercy on you. And if you have returned, we have returned. And we have made Jahannam a mat for the kafirun. 9 This quran guides to that which is straighter and gives good news to the believers, those who do the righteous deeds, that theirs is a big wage. 10 And that those who do not believe in the hereafter, we have prepared for them painful torture. 11 And man invokes for evil as his invocation for good. And man was hasty. 12 And we made the night and the day two signs. Then we erased the sign of the night and made the sign of the day insightful that you may seek favour from your lord and know the number of years and the account. And everything--we have detailed it in detail. 13 And every man, we have imposed upon him his evil omen on his neck and we bring out for him on the day of resurrection a book that meets him published. 14 Read your book. It was sufficient by yourself today against you as something sufficient. 15 He who was guided, he is only guided for his soul. And he who has strayed, he only strays against it. And a bearer does not bear another’s burden. And we were not torturing until we raise a messenger. 16 And when we have wanted to destroy a village, we have commanded its affluent then they have acted immorally therein so the speech has been confirmed against it then we have destroyed it with destruction. 17 And how many did we destroy of the centuries after Nuh! And sufficient was your lord concerning the sins of his slaves as an expert, a seer. 18 He who was wanting the immediate, we have hastened for him therein what we will for whom we want. Then we have made for him Jahannam, he roasts it offensive, overpowered. 19 And he who wanted the hereafter and strove for it its striving while a believer, those, their striving was commendable. 20 All we extend, these and these, from your lord’s gift. And your lord’s gift was not banned. 21 Look how we have preferred some of them to others. And the hereafter is bigger in degrees and bigger in preference. 22 Do not make another god with Allah so that you sit offensive, unassisted. 23 And your lord decided that you do not worship but him and doing good to parents. Whether old age reaches one of them or both of them with you, do not say to them: Uff! And do not yell at them and speak to them noble speech. 24 And lower to them the wing of vileness out of mercy and say: Lord, have mercy on them as they brought me up when I was small. 25 Your lord is a knower of what is in your souls. If you are righteous, he was a forgiver to the returners. 26 And give the relative his right and the needy and the traveller and do not waste a wasting. 27 The wasters were brothers of the devils. And the Devil was ungrateful to his lord. 28 And whether you turn away from them seeking mercy from your lord which you hope for, say to them accessible speech. 29 And do not make your hand chained to your neck and do not extend it all the extent so that you sit blameworthy, scanty. 30 Your lord extends the provision to whom he wills and has power. He was an expert in his slaves, a seer. 31 And do not kill your children for fear of destitution. We provide them and you. Their killing was a big sin. 32 And do not approach fornication. It was fahishah and evil as a way. 33 And do not kill the soul that Allah has forbidden except by right. And he who has been killed wrongfully, we have made for his protector an authority but do not be extravagant in killing. He was helped. 34 And do not approach the orphan’s money except with that which is better until he reaches his maturity. And keep the covenant. The covenant was questioned. 35 And cause the measure to be full when you have measured and weigh with the straight balance. That is better and best in interpretation. 36 And do not pursue what you have no knowledge of. Hearing and vision and heart, all those were questioned about it. 37 And do not walk in the land gleefully. You will not pierce the land nor reach the mountains in height. 38 All that was its evil with your lord, disliked. 39 That is from what your lord has inspired you with of wisdom. And do not make with Allah another god lest you be thrown into Jahannam blameworthy, overpowered. 40 Then has your lord chosen for you sons and taken from the angels females? You say a great speech. 41 And we have explained in this quran that you may remember and it does not increase them except in aversion. 42 Say: Had there been gods with him as they say, then they would have sought a way to the possessor of the throne. 43 Praise be to him and exalted above what they say in big exaltedness! 44 The seven skies and the Earth give praise to him, and those in them. And there is nothing but glorifies with his praise but does not comprehend their glorification. He was clement, forgiving. 45 And when you read the Quran we put between you and those who do not believe in the hereafter a concealed screen. 46 And we have put covers over their hearts lest they comprehend it and in their ears is deafness. And when you have mentioned your lord in the Quran alone, they have turned on their backsides in aversion. 47 We are a knower of what they listen with when they listen to you and when they are in confidential talk when the wrongdoers say: You follow nothing but a bewitched man. 48 Look how they have coined the similitudes for you but they have strayed so cannot a way. 49 And they have said: When we were bones and remains are we raised a new creation? 50 Say: Be stones or iron. 51 Or a creation of what is big in your chests. Then they will say: Who returns us? Say: The one who split you the first time. Then they will shake their heads at you and say: When is it? Say: Perhaps it will be near. 52 On a day he calls you and you respond with his praise and think you have not remained but a short while. 53 And say to my slaves who say that which is better… The Devil incites to evil among them. The Devil was an obvious enemy to man. 54 Your lord is a knower of you. If he wills he will have mercy on you or if he wills torture you. And we did not send you as an agent over them. 55 And your lord knows what is in the skies and the Earth. And we have preferred some of the prophets to others. And we gave Dawud a Zabur. 56 Say: Invoke those whom you have claimed instead of him then they do not possess the removing of harm from you nor conversion. 57 Those whom they invoke seek the means to their lord, which of them is nearest and they hope for his mercy and fear his torture. Your lord’s torture was abhorrent. 58 And there is no village but we are going to destroy it before the day of resurrection or torture it with severe torture. That was mastur in the book. 59 And nothing prevented us from sending with the signs except that the first ones called them a lie. And we gave Thamud the cow camel as a visible sign but they wronged her. And we do not send the signs except as intimidation. 60 And when we said to you: Your lord has encompassed people. And we did not make the vision which we showed you but fitnah for people and the cursed tree in the Quran. And we frighten them but it does not increase them except in big oppression. 61 And when we said to the angels: Do sujud to Adam, they did sujud, except Iblis. He said: Am I to do sujud to one you have created as clay? 62 He said: Have you seen this whom you have honoured above me? If you postpone me to the day of resurrection I will destroy his offspring except a few. 63 He said: Go and he who has followed you among them, Jahannam is your recompense, a considerable recompense. 64 And arouse whom you can among them with your voice and be noisy against them with your cavalry and your infantry and join them in monies and children and promise them. And the Devil does not promise them but delusion. 65 My slaves--you have no authority over them. And your lord was sufficient as an agent. 66 Your lord is the one who drives for you the ship on the sea that you may seek of his favour. He was merciful to you. 67 And when harm has touched you in the sea, he whom you invoke has strayed except him. But when he has saved you to the land you have turned away. And man was an ingrate. 68 So have you felt secure that he would sink you, the side of the land or send a tempest against you? Then you would not find an agent for you. 69 Or have you felt secure that he would return you therein another time and send a roaring of the wind upon you and drown you because you disbelieved? Then you would not find for you a follower therewith against us. 70 And we honoured the Banu Adam and carried them in the land and the sea and provided them from the good things and preferred them to many of those we had created with preference. 71 On a day we call all people with their guideline then he who was given his book in his right hand, those read their book and they are not wronged an integument. 72 And he who was a blind man in this, he is a blind man in the hereafter and more astray from a way. 73 And indeed they were almost tempting you from that which we inspired you with to fabricate against us other than it. And then they would have taken you as a friend. 74 And had we not fixed you you would almost have inclined to them in something a little. 75 Then we would have made you taste double the life and double the death. Then you would not find for you a helper against us. 76 And indeed they had almost frightened you from the land to expel you from it. And then they would not stay after you except a little. 77 Sunnah of him we sent before you of our messengers. And you do not find conversion for our sunnah. 78 Perform the salat at the setting of the sun to the darkness of the night and the fajr quran. The fajr quran was witnessed. 79 And from the night do Tahajjud therewith, a supererogation for you. Perhaps your lord will raise you to a praised station. 80 And say: Lord, cause me to enter an entrance of truth and cause me to exit an exit of truth and make for me a helping authority from you. 81 And say: The truth has come and falsehood has perished. Falsehood was a perishing thing. 82 And we send down from the Quran what is healing and mercy for the believers and it does not increase the wrongdoers but in loss. 83 And when we have graced man he has turned away and moved away on his side. And when evil has touched him he was despairing. 84 Say: Each works on his superficial appearance but your lord is a knower of him who is better guided in a way. 85 And they ask you about the spirit. Say: The spirit is from my lord’s affair. And you have not been given knowledge except a little. 86 And if we willed we would take away that which we have inspired you with. Then you do not find for you concerning it an agent against us. 87 Except mercy from your lord. His favour was a big thing upon you. 88 Say: If man and jinn came together to bring the like of this quran, they would not bring the like of it, even if they were an assistant to one another. 89 And we have laid out for people in this quran of every similitude. But most people have refused except disbelief. 90 And they have said: We shall not believe you so that you cause a spring to gush forth for us from the Earth. 91 Or you have a jannah of date palms and grapes and you let rivers pour forth in their midst with pouring forth. 92 Or you cause the sky to fall, as you claimed, upon us in fragments or bring Allah and the angels as a tribe. 93 Or do you have a house of gold or do you ascend into the sky? And we shall not believe in your ascension until you bring down upon us a book we can read. Say: Praise be to my lord! Was I but a man, a messenger? 94 And what prevented people from believing when the guidance came to them except that they said: Has Allah raised a man as a messenger?? 95 Say: Were there on Earth angels walking at ease we would have sent down upon them from the sky an angel as a messenger. 96 Say: Sufficient was Allah as a witness between me and you. He was an expert in his slaves, a seer. 97 And he whom Allah guides, he is the guided; and he whom Allah misguides, you will not find for them protectors instead of him. And we gather them on the day of resurrection on their faces--blind and dumb and deaf. Their shelter is Jahannam. Every time it abated we increased the blaze for them. 98 That is their recompense because they disbelieved in our verses and said: When we were bones and remains are we raised a new creation? 99 Have they not seen that Allah, the one who created the skies and the Earth, is able to create the like of them? And he has made for them a term, there is no doubt therein. But the wrongdoers have refused except in ingratitude. 100 Say: If you possessed the treasuries of my lord’s mercy then you would have withheld the fear of spending. And man was tight. 101 And we gave Musa nine clear signs so ask the Banu Isra’il when he came to them. Then Fir’awn said to him: I think you, Musa, are bewitched. 102 He said: You have known none has sent these down but the lord of the skies and the Earth as insights. And I think you, Fir’awn, are doomed. 103 So he wanted to frighten them out of the land but we drowned him and all those with him. 104 And we said after him to the Banu Isra’il: Dwell in the land then when the promise of the hereafter came, we brought you as a mass. 105 And we sent it down with the truth and it came down with the truth. And we did not send you except as a bearer of good news and as a nadhir. 106 And a quran that we have split that you may read it to people at intervals. And we sent it down as a tanzil. 107 Say: Believe in it or do not believe. Those who were given the knowledge before it, when he reads to them they fall on chins doing sujud. 108 And they say: Praise be to our lord! Indeed our lord’s promise was done. 109 And they fall on chins weeping and it increases them in submission. 110 Say: Invoke Allah or invoke Al-Rahman. Whichever you invoke, his are the finest names. And do not speak loudly in your salat nor be silent therein and seek a way between that. 111 And say: Praise be to Lah who did not take a child and did not have a partner in the dominion and did not have a protector from vileness. And magnify him with takbir.
