1 Kaf ha ya ayin sad. 2 A dhikr of your lord’s mercy, his slave Zakariyya, 3 When he invoked his lord stealthily. 4 He said: Lord, the bones have weakened from me and the head has flamed hoary and I was not distressed in the supplication to you, lord. 5 I have feared the mawali after me and my woman was infertile. So give me from you a protector 6 Inheriting me and inheriting from Ya’qub’s family. And make him, lord, pleasing. 7 Zakariyya, we give you good news of a boy whose name is Yahya. We have not made for him before samiyyan. 8 He said: Lord, how can I have a boy when my woman was infertile and I have reached savage old age? 9 He said: Thus said your lord: It is easy for me and I created you before when you were nothing, 10 He said: Lord, make me a sign. He said: Your sign is not to speak to people for three nights straight. 11 Then he went out to his people from the mihrab and indicated to them to praise in the morning and in the evening. 12 Yahya, take the book with strength. And we gave him the judgment as a boy 13 And affection from our presence and purity and he was pious 14 And righteous towards his parents and was not a disobedient tyrant. 15 And peace is upon him on a day he was born and on a day he dies and on a day he is raised alive. 16 And mention in the book Maryam, when she withdrew from her family to an eastern place. 17 And she took from them a screen. Then we sent to her our spirit and it assumed for her the likeness of a regular man. 18 She said: I take refuge in Al-Rahman from you, if you are fearing. 19 He said: I am only a messenger of your lord’s that I may give you a pure boy. 20 She said: How can I have a boy when a man has not touched me and I was not a slag? 21 He said: Thus said your lord: It is easy for me. And that we make him a sign for people and a mercy from us. And it was a decided matter. 22 So she conceived him and withdrew with him to a firm place. 23 Then labour drove her to the trunk of a date palm. She said: Would that I had died before this and were in forgotten oblivion! 24 So it called her from beneath her: Not to grieve. Your lord has put a sari beneath you. 25 And shake towards you the trunk of the date palm; it drops ripened dates, jani, upon you. 26 So eat and drink and cool the eye. And if you see any man, say: I have vowed a fast to Al-Rahman so will not speak to man today. 27 So she came with him to her people, carrying him. They said: Maryam, you have come with an extraordinary thing. 28 Sister of Harun, your father was not an evil man nor your mother a slag. 29 Then she pointed to him. They said: How can we speak to one who was in the cradle, a boy? 30 He said: I am Allah’s slave. He has given me the Book and made me a prophet 31 And made me blessed wherever I was and enjoined upon me salat and zakat as long as I was alive 32 And pious towards my mother and he has not made me a tyrant, naughty 33 And peace is upon me on a day I was born and on a day I die and on a day I am raised alive. 34 That is Isa son of Maryam, the speech of truth which they dispute about. 35 It was not for Lah that he should take any child. Praise be to him! When he decides a matter he only says to it: Be and it is. 36 And Allah is my lord and your lord, so worship him. This is a straight path. 37 But the parties among them differed, so woe to those who have disbelieved from a meeting place of a great day. 38 Hear them and see on a day they come to us but the wrongdoers today are in obvious error. 39 And warn them of the day of regret when the matter has been decided. And they are in carelessness and they do not believe. 40 We inherit the Earth and those on it and to us are they returned. 41 And mention Ibrahim in the book. He was a truthful man, a prophet. 42 When he said to his father: Father, why do you worship what does not hear or see or enrich you at all? 43 Father, some knowledge what has not come to you has come to me, so follow me. Let me guide you to a regular path. 44 Father, do not worship the Devil. The Devil was disobedient to Al-Rahman. 45 Father, I fear that torture from Al-Rahman will touch you, so you would be a protector for the Devil. 46 He said: Do you have an aversion from my gods, Ibrahim? If you do not cease I will stone you; avoid me mali. 47 He said: Peace be upon you. I shall ask forgiveness for you of my lord. He was hafi. 48 And I walk away from you and what you invoke instead of Allah and I invoke my lord. Perhaps I am not naughty in the invocation to my lord. 49 So when he walked away from them and what they worship instead of Allah we gave him Ishaq and Ya’qub and each did we make a prophet. 50 And we gave them from our mercy and made for them a tongue of truth, high. 51 And mention Musa in the book. He was sincere and was a messenger, a prophet. 52 And we called him from the right-hand side of the Tur and brought him near as a confidant. 53 And we gave him from our mercy his brother Harun, a prophet. 54 And mention Isma’il in the book. He was true to the promise and was a messenger, a prophet. 55 And he used to command his people salat and zakat and was pleasing with his lord. 56 And mention Idris in the book. He was a truthful man, a prophet. 57 And we raised him to a high place. 58 Those are the ones Allah graced of the prophets of Adam’s offspring and of him we carried with Nuh and of Ibrahim’s offspring and Isra’il's and of those we guided and selected. When Al-Rahman’s verses are read to them they fell doing sujud and weeping. 59 Then after them successors succeeded who wasted salat and followed lusts and they will meet temptation. 60 Except he who has repented and believed and has done a righteous deed. Then those enter the Jannah and are not wronged at all. 61 Jannat of ‘Adn which Al-Rahman has promised his slaves in the ghayb. It was his promise having come. 62 They do not hear therein nonsense except peace. And theirs is their provision therein, early in the morning and in the afternoon. 63 That is the Jannah, which we make our slaves inherit, those who were fearing. 64 And we do not descend except by your lord’s command. His is what is in front of us and what is behind us and what is between that. And your lord was not oblivion. 65 Lord of the skies and of the Earth and what is between them, so worship him and be patient for his worship. Do you know a sami for him? 66 And man says: When I have died shall I be brought out alive? 67 Does man not remember that we created him before and he was nothing? 68 So by your lord we will gather them and the devils then we will bring them around Jahannam genuflecting. 69 Then we will spoil every party, those of them who are most severe against Al-Rahman in domineering. 70 Then we know those who are first therein getting burnt. 71 And there is none of you but is coming to it. It was upon your lord a decided requirement. 72 Then we save those who have feared and forsake the wrongdoers therein genuflecting. 73 And when our clear verses are read to them, those who have disbelieved said to those who have believed: Which of the two parties is better in place and lovelier in nadi? 74 And how many did we destroy before them of a century--they were better in furniture and appearance? 75 Say: Those who were in error, let Al-Rahman give them an extension until when they see what they have been promised, either the torture or the Hour, then they will know who is worse in place and weaker in soldiery. 76 And Allah increases those who have been guided in guidance. And the remaining things, the righteous deeds, are better with your lord as a recompense and better as a factor. 77 So have you seen the one who has disbelieved in our verses and said: I shall be given money and a child? 78 Has he come suddenly upon the ghayb or taken from Al-Rahman a covenant? 79 Not at all! We shall write what he says and extend the torture for him 80 And inherit from him what he says and he comes to us as an individual. 81 And they have taken gods instead of Allah that they may be honour for them. 82 Not at all! They will disbelieve in their worship and be an opponent against them. 83 Have you not seen that we have sent the devils upon the disbelievers, tanging them? 84 So do not hasten against them. We only count a number for them. 85 On a day we gather the fearers to Al-Rahman as a delegation. 86 And we drive the criminals to Jahannam thirsty. 87 They do not possess intercession except him who has taken a covenant from Al-Rahman. 88 And they said: Al-Rahman has taken a child. 89 You have come with an atrocious thing. 90 The skies almost crack therefrom and the Earth split and the mountains fall in destruction 91 That they have invoked for Al-Rahman a child. 92 And it is not seemly for Al-Rahman to take a child. 93 There is none in the skies and the Earth but he comes to Al-Rahman as a slave. 94 He has enumerated them and counted them. 95 And each of them comes to him on the day of resurrection as an individual. 96 Those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds, Al-Rahman will make affection for them. 97 So we have only facilitated it with your tongue that you may give good news therewith to the fearers and warn therewith a disputatious people. 98 And how many have we destroyed before them of a century? Do you perceive any of them or hear a low sound of them?
