1 Ta ha. 2 We have not sent down upon you the Quran for you to be wretched 3 But as an admonition for him who fears. 4 A tanzil from him who created the Earth and the high skies. 5 Al-Rahman ascended the throne. 6 His is what is in the skies and what is on the Earth and what is between them and what is beneath the soil. 7 And if you speak the speech loudly he knows the secret and the cache. 8 Allah--there is no god but him. His are the finest names. 9 And has the hadith of Musa come to you? 10 When he saw a fire and said to his family: Stay. I have perceived a fire. Perhaps I can bring you therefrom a brand or find guidance on the fire. 11 Then when he came to it he was called: Musa! 12 I am your lord so remove your shoes. You are in the sacred valley of Tuwa. 13 And I have chosen you so listen to what is inspired. 14 I am Allah. There is no god but me. So worship me and perform salat for my dhikr. 15 The Hour is coming. I almost hide it that every soul may be rewarded for what it attempts. 16 So do not let him who does not believe in it block you from it and has followed his desire that you perish. 17 And what is that in your right hand, Musa? 18 He said: It is my staff. I lean on it and bring down leaves with it for my sheep. And I have other uses in it. 19 He said: Throw it, Musa. 20 So he threw it and behold, it is a moving snake. 21 He said: Take it and do not fear. We shall return it to its first conduct. 22 And bring your hand near to your side. It comes out white without ill as another sign 23 That we may show you of our biggest signs. 24 Go to Fir’awn. He has played the tyrant. 25 He said: Lord, expand for me my chest 26 And ease for me my affair 27 And untie a knot from my tongue 28 That they may comprehend my speech. 29 And make me a minister from my family. 30 Harun, my brother. 31 Strengthen through him my might 32 And make him a partner in my affair 33 That we may praise you much 34 And remember you much. 35 You are a seer of us. 36 He said: Your request has been given, Musa. 37 And we have favoured you another time 38 When we inspired your mother what is inspired: 39 Slam him in the ark then slam him in the sea then throw it, the sea with the coast. An enemy to me and an enemy to him takes it. And I threw love upon you from me and to be made upon my eye. 40 When your sister walks and says: Shall I direct you to him who vouches for it? So we returned you to your mother that her eye might be cooled and not grieve. And you killed a soul but we saved you from sorrow and tried you with fascinations. Then you remained years among the family of Madyan. Then you came upon a fate, Musa. 41 And I produced you for myself. 42 Go, you and your brother with my signs and do not slacken in my dhikr. 43 Go to Fir’awn. He has played the tyrant. 44 Say tender speech to him. Perhaps he remembers or fears. 45 They said: Our lord, we fear that he will abuse us or play the tyrant. 46 He said: Do not fear. I am with you. I hear and see. 47 So go to him and say: We are your lord’s messengers so send with us the Banu Isra’il and do not torture them. We have brought you a sign from your lord. And peace is upon him who has followed the guidance. 48 We, we have been inspired that the torture is upon him who has accused of lying and turned away. 49 He said: So who is your lord, Musa? 50 He said: Our lord is the one who gave everything its creation then guided. 51 He said: Then what is the state of the first centuries? 52 He said: The knowledge of it is with my lord in a book. My lord does not stray or forget. 53 The one who made for you the Earth as a bed and inserted for you therein ways and sent down from the sky water then we brought out with it pairs of different vegetation. 54 Eat and pasture your cattle. In that there are signs for the possessors of intellect. 55 From it we created you and into it we return you and from it we bring you out another occasion. 56 And we showed him our signs, all of them, but he accused of lying and refused. 57 He said: Have you come to us to expel us from our land with your magic, Musa? 58 Then we will bring you magic the like of it. So make an appointment between us and you. We will not renege on it, we or you, a level place. 59 He said: Your appointment is the day of the adornment and that the people be gathered at forenoon. 60 Then Fir’awn turned away and formulated his scheme then came. 61 Musa said to them: Woe to you! Do not fabricate a lie against Allah that he destroy you with torture. And he who fabricated failed. 62 Then they disputed their affair among them and kept the confidential talk secret. 63 They said: These are two magicians who want to expel you from your land with their magic and cause your exemplary way to disappear. 64 So agree unanimously on your scheme then come in a line. And succeeded today has he who has overcome. 65 They said: Musa, either you throw or we are the first of those who have thrown. 66 He said: Rather, throw. And behold, their ropes and their staves he imagined by their magic that they chased. 67 Then Musa felt fear in himself. 68 We said: Do not fear. You, you are the highest. 69 And throw what is in your right hand. It will swallow what they have made. They have only made a magician’s witchcraft and the magician does not succeed where he has come. 70 So the magicians were thrown doing sujud. They said: We have believed in Harun’s and Musa’s lord. 71 He said: You have believed him before I give you permission. He is your chief, who taught you magic. So I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides and crucify you on the trunks of date palms and you shall know which of us is severer in torture and more lasting. 72 They said: We shall not excite you over what has come to us of the proofs and the one who split us. So decide what you are deciding. You only decide this dunya life. 73 We have believed in our lord that he may forgive us our sins and what you have forced on us by magic. And Allah is best and more lasting. 74 He who comes to his lord as a criminal, his is Jahannam. He does not die therein and he does not live. 75 And he who comes to him as a believer, he has done the righteous deeds and those, theirs are the high degrees. 76 Jannat of ‘Adn, rivers running beneath them, abiding therein indefinitely. And that is the recompense of him who has purified himself. 77 And we inspired Musa: Travel by night with my slaves and strike a way for them in the sea, dry, not fearing a path nor fearing. 78 And Fir’awn with his troops followed them but what covered them of the sea covered them. 79 And Fir’awn misguided his people and did not guide. 80 Banu Isra’il, we saved you from your enemy and agreed on a meeting with you on the right hand side of the Tur. And we sent down upon you the manna and the quail. 81 Eat of good things what we have provided you with and do not play the tyrant therein and my anger loosen upon you. And him whom my anger should loosen upon, he has sunk. 82 And I am a forgiver of him who has repented and believed and done a righteous deed then was guided. 83 And what has made you hasten from your people, Musa? 84 He said: They are those upon my track and I have hastened to you, lord, that you be pleased. 85 He said: But we have tempted your people after you and the Samaritan has misled them. 86 Then Musa returned to his people angry, sorry. He said: People, did your lord not make you a good promise? Then was the covenant long for you or did you want anger from your lord to loosen so that you reneged on my appointment? 87 They said: We have not reneged on your appointment by our volition but we have been made to carry burdens of the people’s ornaments and they threw them and thus the Samaritan threw. 88 Then he brought out for them a calf, a body with lowing. And they said: This is your god and Musa’s god but he forgot. 89 So did they not see not returning speech to them or possessing harm or benefit for them? 90 And Harun had said to them before: People, you have only been tested by it and your lord is Al-Rahman so follow me and obey my command. 91 They said: We shall not cease to be engaged in it until Musa returns to us. 92 He said: Harun, what prevented you when you saw them strayed 93 Not to follow me? Then have you disobeyed my command? 94 He said: Mother’s son, do not take me by my beard or by my head. I feared to say: You have distinguished between Banu Isra’il and have not waited for my speech. 95 He said: Then what is your motive, Samaritan? 96 He said: I saw what they did not see so I took a handful from the messenger’s track and threw it and thus did my soul tempt me. 97 He said: Then go. And yours in life is that you say: There is no touching. And yours is an appointment that you will not renege on. And look at your god which you have remained devoted to. We will burn it and blow it away into the sea as winnowing. 98 Your god is only Allah who there is no god but him. He has encompassed everything in knowledge. 99 Thus do we relate to you from news of what has preceded. And we have given you a dhikr from us. 100 He who has turned away from it, he bears on the day of resurrection a burden. 101 Abiding therein indefinitely and evil was it for them on the day of resurrection as a load. 102 On a day it is blown on the trumpet and we gather the criminals on that day blue. 103 They murmur among them: You have not remained but ten. 104 We are a knower of what they say when their exemplary in manner says: You have not remained but a day. 105 And they ask you about the mountains so say: My lord blows them away as winnowing. 106 Then he leaves them a flat plain. 107 You see neither crookedness therein nor slope. 108 On that day they follow the caller; there is no deviation for it. And the voices lowered themselves for Al-Rahman so you do not hear but a whisper. 109 On that day intercession does not benefit except him whom Al-Rahman has given permission and has been pleased with speech for him. 110 He knows what is in front of them and what is behind them and they do not fully understand it in knowledge. 111 And the faces were humbled before the living one, the qayyum. And failed has he who has carried wrong. 112 And he who does some of the righteous deeds and he is a believer, he fears neither wrong nor breaking. 113 And thus have we sent it down as an Arabic quran and explained in it of the threatening; perhaps they will fear or it will produce a dhikr for them. 114 So exalted be Allah the king, the true. And do not hurry with the Quran before its inspiration is completed to you, and say: Lord, increase me in knowledge. 115 And we made a covenant with Adam before but he forgot and we did not find resolve for him. 116 And when we said to the angels: Do sujud to Adam, they did sujud, except Iblis; he refused. 117 Then we said: Adam, this is an enemy to you and to your husband. So do not let him expel you two from the Jannah so you would be wretched. 118 Yours is not to be hungry therein nor to be naked. 119 And that you do not thirst therein nor immolate. 120 Then the Devil whispered to him. He said: Adam, shall I direct you to the Tree of Perpetuity and a dominion that does not wear out? 121 So they two ate from it and their pudenda appeared to them and they began to fasten upon them from the leaves of the Jannah. And Adam disobeyed his lord and strayed. 122 Then his lord chose him and repented for him and guided. 123 He said: You two get down from it, all, some of you an enemy to others. Then if guidance comes to you from me then he who has followed my guidance, he neither strays nor is wretched. 124 And he who has turned away from my dhikr, his is a straitened livelihood and we gather him on the day of resurrection blind. 125 He said: Lord, why did you assemble me blind when I was sighted? 126 He said: Thus did our signs come to you but you forgot them and thus are you today being forgotten. 127 And thus do we recompense him who has exceeded and has not believed in his lord’s signs. And the torture of the hereafter is severer and more lasting. 128 So has it not guided for them how many we destroyed before them of the centuries, walking in their dwellings? In that there are signs for the possessors of intelligence. 129 And had it not been for a word that had preceded from your lord, it would have been an obligation and a designated term. 130 So be patient regarding what they say and praise with the praise of your lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting and from the hours of the night. So praise and the ends of the day; perhaps you will be pleased. 131 And do not extend your eyes to what we have amused with, pairs of them, the flower of the dunya life, that we may try them therein. And your lord’s provision is better and more lasting. 132 And command your family salat and be patient therein. We do not ask you for provision; we provide you and the result is for taqwa. 133 And they have said: Why does he not bring us a sign from his lord? Has a proof of what is in the first sheets not come to them? 134 And had we destroyed them with torture before him they would have said: Our lord, why did you not send us a messenger so we might follow your verses before we were humiliated and disgraced? 135 Say: Each is lying in wait. So lie in wait. Then you will know who the companions of the even path are and who has been guided.
