1 People, fear your lord. The shaking of the Hour is a great thing. 2 On a day you see it every nursing woman neglects what she has suckled and every pregnant woman lays down her load and you see people intoxicated when they are not intoxicated but Allah’s torture is severe. 3 And among people is he who argues about Allah without knowledge and follows every stubborn devil. 4 It has been written upon him that he who has nominated him that he misguides him and he guides him to the torture of the blaze. 5 People, if you are in doubt about the resurrection, we have created you from dirt then from a drop then from a blood clot then from a gobbet, formed and unformed, that we may make clear for you. And we settle in the wombs what we will for a designated term then we bring you out as a child then that you may reach your maturity. And among you is he who is caused to die and among you is he who is returned to the lowest age so that he does not know anything after knowledge. And you see the Earth hamidah and when we have sent down water upon it it moves and increases and grows every joyous kind. 6 That is because Allah--he is the truth. And that he vivifies the dead and that he is mighty over everything. 7 And that the Hour is coming, there is no doubt about it, and that Allah raises those in the graves. 8 And among people is he who argues about Allah without knowledge or guidance or a bright book 9 Turning his side to misguide from the way of Allah. His is disgrace in the dunya and we make him taste on the day of resurrection the torture of the fire. 10 That is for what your hands have presented and that Allah is not unjust to the slaves. 11 And among people is he who worships Allah on an edge. And if good befalls him he is calm with it but if fitnah befalls him he turns on his face. He has lost the dunya and the hereafter. That--it is the obvious loss. 12 He invokes instead of Allah what does not harm him and what does not benefit him. That--it is the far straying. 13 He calls to one--his harm is closer than his benefit. Miserable was the mawla and miserable the intimate. 14 Allah admits those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds to jannat, rivers running beneath them. Allah does what he wants. 15 He who was thinking that Allah will not help him in the dunya and the hereafter, let him extend a cable to the sky then let him cut off, let him look whether his stratagem shall remove what acerbates. 16 And thus have we sent it down as clear verses and that Allah guides whom he wants. 17 Those who have believed and those who were Jewish and the Sabians and the Nasara and the Magians and those who have associated, Allah judges between them on the day of resurrection. Allah is a witness over everything. 18 Have you not seen that Allah, to him does sujud those in the skies and those on the Earth and the sun and the moon and the stars and the mountains and the trees and the beasts and many of the people? But many--the torture was rightly upon him. And he whom Allah despises, he has no honourer. Allah does what he wills. 19 These two disputants argue about their lord. But those who have disbelieved, thiyab of fire were cut for them. Hot water is poured over their heads, 20 Melts with it what is in their bellies, and skins. 21 And theirs are maqami' of iron. 22 Everytime they wanted to come out of it from grief they are returned to it. And taste the torture of the fire! 23 Allah admits those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds to jannat, rivers running beneath them. They are adorned with bracelets of gold and pearls and their garment therein is silk. 24 And they were guided to the good of speech and they were guided to the path of the praiseworthy. 25 Those who have disbelieved and hinder from the way of Allah and the Sacred Mosque which we have made for people, alike are the attendant and the visitor. And he who wants therein deviation, injustice, we make him taste painful torture. 26 And when we nominated for Ibrahim the place of the house, Do not associate with me anything and purify my house for the circumambulators and the standers and the bowers and the sujud-doers. 27 And announce among people the Hajj; they come to you on foot and on every lean thing; they come from every deep gorge 28 To witness benefits for them and mention Allah’s name on known days over what we have provided them with of the beast of cattle. So eat of it and feed the miserable man, the poor man. 29 Then let them complete their tafath and fulfill their vows and circumambulate the ancient house. 30 That and he who magnifies the hurumat of Allah, it is better for him with his lord. And cattle have been made lawful for you except what is read to you. So avoid the rijs from the idols and avoid false speech. 31 Hunafa to Lah, not associating with him. And he who associates with Allah, it is as though he has fallen from the sky and the bird has seized him or the wind blows him to a distant place. 32 That and he who magnifies the symbols of Allah, it is from the taqwa of hearts. 33 Yours therein are benefits for a designated term. Then their site is at the ancient house. 34 And for every nation have we made a rite that they may remember Allah’s name over what he has provided them with of the beast of cattle. And your god is one god, so surrender to him. And give good news to the humble. 35 Those when Allah has been mentioned--their hearts are in fear, and the patient over what has befallen them and the performers of salat, and of what we have provided them with they spend. 36 And the budn--we have made them for you of the sha'a’ir of Allah, for you there is good therein. So mention Allah’s name over them, lined up. And when their flanks have collapsed eat of them and feed the qani and the mu’tar. Thus have we subjected them to you; perhaps you will thank. 37 Allah will not get their meat or their blood but he gets the taqwa from you. Thus has he subjected them to you that you may make Allah big over what he has guided you to. And give good news to the good-doers. 38 Allah defends those who have believed. Allah does not love any bellower, ingrate. 39 Those who are fought have been permitted because they have been wronged. And Allah is able over their victory. 40 Those who have been removed from their homes without right except that they say: Our lord is Allah. And had it not been for Allah’s pushing people by one another, sawami' and biya' and salawat and mosques, wherein the name of Allah is mentioned much, would have been demolished. And Allah shall help him who helps him. Allah is strong, mighty. 41Those who, if we enabled them in the land, established salat and gave zakat and commanded kindness and forbade baseness. And Lah’s is the result of matters. 42 And if they call you a liar, Nuh’s people and Ad and Thamud accused of lying before them. 43 And Ibrahim’s people and Lut’s people 44 And the companions of Madyan. And Musa was called a liar so I granted the kafirun respite then I took them and how the nakir was! 45 And how many of a village did we destroy when it was wrongdoing, so it is desolate on its rooves and a ruined well and a built castle! 46 So have they not travelled in the land and they have hearts to comprehend with or ears to hear with? So the eyes are not blind but the hearts that are in the chests are blind. 47 And they ask you to hasten the torture. But Allah will not abandon his promise. And a day with your lord is like 1,000 years of what you count. 48 And how many of a village did I give respite to when it was wrongdoing? Then I took it and to me is the destiny. 49 Say: People, I am only an obvious nadhir to you. 50 So those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds--theirs is forgiveness and a generous provision. 51 And those who have striven against our verses, enfeebling--those are the companions of Jahim. 52 And we did not send before you any messenger or prophet but when he desired the Devil threw into his desire, and Allah abrogates what the Devil throws then Allah establishes his verses. And Allah is learned, wise. 53 To make what the Devil throws fitnah for those in whose hearts is disease and their hearts are hard. And the wrongdoers are in far schism. 54 And that those who have been given knowledge may know that it is the truth from your lord and believe in it and that their hearts may be humble to it. And Allah is guide of those who have believed to a straight path. 55 And those who have disbelieved continue to be in doubt about it until the Hour comes to them unexpectedly or the torture of a barren day comes to them. 56 The dominion on that day is Lah’s, he judges between them. So those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds are in the jannat of bliss. 57 And those who have disbelieved and have called our verses a lie, those--theirs is base torture. 58 And those who emigrated in the way of Allah then were killed or died, Allah gives them a good provision. And Allah, he is the best of providers. 59 He shall admit them to an entrance that pleases them. And Allah is learned, clement. 60 That, and he who has punished with the like of what he was punished with then was oppressed, Allah shall help him. Allah is pardoning, a forgiver. 61 That is because Allah thrusts the night into the day and thrusts the day into the night. And that Allah is a hearer, a seer. 62 That is because Allah, he is the truth and that what they invoke instead of him, it is falsehood. And that Allah, he is the high one, the big one. 63 Have you not seen that Allah has sent down water from the sky and the Earth grows green? Allah is nice, an expert. 64 His is what is in the skies and what is on the Earth. And Allah, he is the rich, the praiseworthy. 65 Have you not seen that Allah has subjected to you what is on the Earth? And the ships running in the sea by his command? And he holds the sky lest it falls on the Earth except with his permission. Allah is kind, merciful to people. 66 And he is the one who vivified you then he causes you to die then he vivifies you. Man is an ingrate. 67 For every nation have we made a rite. They perform it. So let them not dispute with you in the matter but call to your lord. You are on straight guidance. 68 And if they argue with you say: Allah knows what you do. 69 Allah judges between you on the day of resurrection concerning what you used to differ in. 70 Did you not know that Allah knows what is in the sky and the Earth? That is in a book. That is easy for Allah. 71 And they worship instead of Allah what he has not sent down authority for and what they have no knowledge of. And there is no helper for the wrongdoers. 72 And when our clear verses are read to them you recognise in the faces of those who have disbelieved baseness. They almost attack those who read our verses to them. Say: So shall I inform you of worse than that? The fire. Allah has promised it to those who have disbelieved and miserable was the destiny. 73 People, a similitude has been coined so listen to it. Those whom you invoke instead of Allah will not create a fly even if they gathered for it. And if the fly despoiled them of a thing they would not save it from it. Weakened was the seeker and the sought. 74 They have not estimated Allah with due worth. Allah is strong, mighty. 75 Allah chooses from the angels messengers and from people. Allah is a hearer, a seer. 76 He knows what is in front of them and what is behind them. And to Allah are matters returned. 77 Those who have believed, bow and do sujud and worship your lord and do good; perhaps you will succeed. 78 And wage jihad for Allah with his due jihad. He has selected you and has not put upon you in the religion any difficulty. The cult of your father Ibrahim. He named you Muslims before and in this, that the messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over people. So establish salat and give zakat and hang on to Allah. He is your mawla. So excellent was the mawla and excellent the helper.
