1 Ta sin mim. 2 Those are the signs of the clear book. 3 We read to you from the news of Musa and Fir’awn in truth for people who believe. 4 Fir’awn was lofty in the land and made its family parties, considering a band of them deficient in power, slaughtering their sons and letting their women live. He was of the corrupters. 5 And we want to grace those who had been considered deficient in power in the land and make them leaders and make them the inheritors 6 And to empower them in the land and to show Fir’awn and Haman and their troops among them what they were fearing. 7 And we inspired Musa’s mother: Suckle him but when you have feared for him throw him into the sea and do not fear or grieve. We are returning him to you and making him of the commissaries. 8 Then Fir’awn’s family picked him up that he might be an enemy and a grief to them. Fir’awn and Haman and their troops were sinners. 9 And Fir’awn’s woman said: An eye anti-inflammatory for me and for you. Do not kill him. Perhaps he will benefit us or we shall take him as a child. And they do not perceive. 10 And Musa’s mother’s heart became empty. If she had almost revealed regarding him had it not been that we had attached upon her heart that she might be of the believers. 11 And she said to his sister: Follow him. So she watched him from alongside and they do not perceive. 12 And we forbade for him wet nurses before, so she said: Shall I direct you to a household who will nurse him for you while they are advisors to him? 13 So we returned him to his mother so that her eye might cool and that she might not grieve and that she might know that Allah’s promise is true. But most of them do not know. 14 And when he reached his strength and became full-grown we gave him judgment and knowledge. And thus do we recompense the good-doers. 15 And he entered the city at a time of neglect of its people and found therein two men fighting each other, this one from his party and the other from his enemy’s. And the one from his party sought his help against the one from his enemy’s. So Musa struck him and killed him. He said: This is of the work of the Devil. He is an enemy, an obvious misleader. 16 He said: Lord, I have wronged myself so forgive me. Then he forgave him. He is the forgiver, the merciful. 17 He said: Lord, because you have graced me I will not be a supporter for the criminals. 18 So he became fearful in the city, watching, and behold, the one who asked him for help the previous day cries out to him for help. Musa said to him: You are an obvious seducer. 19 So when he wanted to seize the one who is an enemy to the two of them, he said: Musa, do you want to kill me as you killed a soul yesterday? You want nothing but to be a tyrant in the land and you do not want to be of the reformers. 20 And a man came chasing from the furthest part of the city. He said: Musa, the chiefs are consulting regarding you to kill you, so leave. I am of the advisors to you. 21 So he left it fearful, watching. He said: Lord, save me from the wrongdoing people. 22 And when he turned his face towards Madyan he said: Perhaps my lord will guide me to the right way. 23 And when he came to the water of Madyan he found upon it a nation of people watering and found instead of them two women keeping back. He said: What is your problem? They said: We will not water until the shepherds leave and our father is a very old man. 24 So he watered for them then turned away to the shade and said: Lord, I am poor of what you have sent down to me of good. 25 Then one of them came to him walking bashfully. She said: My father calls you that he may recompense you with recompense for what you have watered for us. So when he came to him and related to him the narrative he said: Do not fear. You have survived from the wrongdoing people. 26 One of them said: My father, hire him. The best of whom you have hired is the strong, the trustworthy. 27 He said: I want you to nikah one of these my two daughters that you should work for me for eight hijaj. But if you have completed ten, then it is from you. And I do not want to make things difficult for you. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the righteous. 28 He said: That is between me and you. Whichever of the two terms I have completed there is no unfairness against me. And Allah is an agent over what we say. 29 Then when Musa had completed the term and travelled with his family he caught sight of from the side of the Tur a fire. He said to his family: Stay. I have caught sight of a fire. Perhaps I shall bring you a report from it or a brand from the fire. Perhaps you will seek warmth. 30 But when he came to it he was called from the right-hand side of the bank of the wadi in the blessed patch from the tree: Musa, I am Allah, lord of the ‘alamin. 31 And: Throw your staff. But when he saw it shake as if it were a snake he turned tail fleeing and did not come after. Musa, advance and do not fear. You are of the safe. 32 Insert your hand into your pocket. It comes out white without evil. And gather to you your wing from fright. So those are two proofs from your lord to Fir’awn and his chiefs. They were fasiq people. 33 He said: Lord, I have killed a soul of them and fear that they will kill me. 34 And my brother Harun, he is more eloquent than I in tongue so send him with me as an aid to confirm me. I fear that they will call me a liar. 35 He said: We shall strengthen your upper arm by your brother and make an authority for you two so they do not arrive in you two. With our signs you two and he who has followed you two are the defeaters. 36 But when Musa came to them with our clear signs they said: This is nothing but fabricated magic and we have not heard of this among our first fathers. 37 And Musa said: My lord is a knower of him who has come with the guidance from him and him who has the result of the home. The wrongdoers do not succeed. 38 And Fir’awn said: Chiefs, I have not known for you any god other than me. So kindle for me, Haman, on the clay and make me a sarh; perhaps I shall look at Musa’s god. And I think him of the liars. 39 And he was arrogant, he and his troops in the land without a right, and they thought that they are not returned to us. 40 So we took him and his troops and threw them into the sea. So look how the result of the wrongdoers was. 41 And we made them leaders calling to the fire, and on the day of resurrection they are not helped. 42 And we caused a curse to follow them in this dunya, and on the day of resurrection they are of the maqbuhun. 43 And we gave Musa the Book after we had destroyed the first centuries as basa’ir for people and guidance and mercy; perhaps they will remember. 44 And you were not on the western side when we decided on the command for Musa and you were not of the witnesses. 45 But we constructed centuries and he was long-lived over them. And you were not a thawi in Madyan’s family reading our verses to them but we were senders. 46 And you were not at the side of the tur when we called. But as a mercy from your lord that you may warn a people whom no nadhir has come to before you; perhaps they will remember. 47 And were it not that a disaster should strike them for what their hands have offered then they should say: Our lord, why have you not sent us a messenger so we might follow your verses and be of the believers? 48 But when the truth came to them from us they said: Why has he not been given the like of what Musa was given? Did they not disbelieve in what Musa was given before? They said: Two magics attesting. And they said: We are kafirun in all. 49 Say: Bring a book from Allah better than they; I shall follow it, if you are truthful. 50 But if they have not answered you know that they only follow their desires. And who is more astray than he who has followed his desire without guidance from Allah? Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. 51 And we have delivered the speech to them; perhaps they will remember. 52 Those whom we gave the Book to before it, they believe in it. 53 And when it is read to them they said: We have believed in it. It is the truth from our lord. We were Muslims before it. 54 Those are given their wage twice because they were patient and they push back the evil deed with the good and spend from what we have provided them. 55 And when they heard the nonsense they turned away from it and they said: To us our deeds and to you your deeds. Peace be upon you. We do not seek the ignorant. 56 You do not guide him you have loved but Allah guides whom he wills. And he is a knower of the guided. 57 And they said: If we follow the guidance with you, we shall be snatched from our land. Have we not strengthened for them a secure sanctum to which fruits of everything are levied as provision from us? But most of them do not know. 58 And how many we destroyed of a village that was haughty in its living! Those are their residences. It has not dwelled after them except a little. And we were the inheritors. 59 And your lord was not destroying the villages until he sends in their mother a messenger reading to them our verses. And we were not destroyers of the villages except--and their people are wrongdoers. 60 And what you have been given of a thing, enjoyment of the dunya life and its adornment. And what is with Allah is better and more lasting. So do you not comprehend? 61 So is he whom we have promised a good promise, and he is meeting him, like him whom we have amused with the amusement of the dunya life then he on the day of resurrection is of those sent for? 62 And on a day he calls them and says: Where are my partners, those whom you used to claim? 63 Those upon whom the speech has been confirmed said: Our lord, these are the ones whom we seduced. We seduced them as we strayed. We have disowned to you. They were not worshipping us. 64 And it was said: Invoke your partners. So they invoked them but they did not answer them and they saw the torture. If they were guided! 65 And on a day he calls them and says: What did you answer the commissaries? 66 But the news was obscured from them on that day so they do not ask one another. 67 But as for him who has repented and believed and done a righteous deed, perhaps he will be of the successful. 68 And your lord creates what he wills and chooses. They did not have the choice. Praise be to Allah and exalted from what they associate! 69 And your lord knows what their chests conceal and what they reveal. 70 And he is Allah. There is no god but him. His is the praise in the first and the hereafter. And his is the judgment and to him you are returned. 71 Say: Have you seen if Allah made the night lasting for a long time upon you to the day of resurrection, who is a god other than Allah who brings you brightness? So do you not hear? 72 Say: Have you seen if Allah made the day lasting a long time upon you to the day of resurrection, who is a god other than Allah who brings you night that you dwell in? So do you not see? 73 And from his mercy he made for you the night and the day that you may dwell in it and seek of his favour; and perhaps you will thank. 74 And on a day he calls them and says: Where are my partners, those whom you used to claim? 75 And we withdrew from every nation a witness and said: Bring your proof. So they knew that the truth is Lah’s and what they used to fabricate strayed from them. 76 Qarun was of Musa’s people but he oppressed them. And we gave him of the treasures what its keys would have burdened the gang, the possessors of strength. When his people said to him: Do not rejoice. Allah does not love the rejoicing. 77 And seek in what Allah has given you, the hereafter home, and do not forget your share from the dunya. And do good as Allah has done good to you. And do not seek corruption in the land. Allah does not love the corrupters. 78 He said: I have only been given it on account of knowledge I have. Did he not know that Allah destroyed before him some of the centuries who were stronger than he in strength and more in mass? And the criminals are not asked about their sins. 79 So he went out to his people in his adornment. Those who want the dunya life said: Would that we had the like of what Qarun has been given. He is a possessor of great luck. 80 And those who were given knowledge said: Woe to you, Allah’s reward is better for him who has believed and done a righteous deed. And none receives it but the patient. 81 Then we sank the Earth with him and his home. Then he had no group to help him instead of Allah and he was not of the helped. 82 And it came to pass, those who had wished for his position yesterday say: Welladay! Allah extends the provision for whom he wills of his slaves and has power. Had Allah not been benevolent towards us, he would have sunk us. Welladay! The kafirun do not succeed. 83 That is the hereafter home. We fix it for those who do not want exaltation on the Earth or corruption. And the result is for the fearers. 84 He who has come with the good deed, his is better than it and he who comes with the evil deed, those who have done the evil deeds are not recompensed except for what they used to do. 85 The one who has imposed the Quran upon you is returning you to a repetition. Say: My lord is a knower of him who has come with the guidance and him who is in obvious error. 86 And you were not hoping for the book to be thrown to you except as mercy from your lord. So do not be an assistant for the kafirun. 87 And do not let them block you from Allah’s verses after when they have been sent down to you. And call to your lord. And do not be of the mushrikun. 88 And do not invoke another god with Allah. There is no god but him. Everything is perishing except his face. His is the judgment and to him you are returned.
