1 Alif lam mim. 2 Have people thought that they would be left because they say: We have believed and they are not tested? 3 And we tested those before them. So Allah shall know those who were truthful and he shall know the liars. 4 Or have those who do the evil deeds thought that they precede us? Evil was what they judge. 5 He who was hoping for Allah’s meeting, Allah’s term is coming. And he is the hearer, the learned. 6 And he who has waged jihad, he only wages jihad for himself. Allah is rich from the ‘alamin. 7 And those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds, we will atone for them their evil deeds and recompense them with the best of that which they used to do. 8 And we advised man goodness for his parents. And if they have waged jihad on you to make you associate with me what you have no knowledge of, do not obey them. To me is your return. Then I shall inform you of what you used to do. 9 And those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds, we will admit them among the righteous. 10 And among people are those who say: We have believed in Allah. But when he has been harmed in Allah he has made the people’s fitnah like Allah’s torture. And if victory comes from your lord they will say: We were with you. Is Allah not a knower of what is in the chests of the ‘alamin? 11 And Allah shall know those who have believed and he shall know the hypocrites. 12 And those who have disbelieved have said to those who have believed: Follow our way and we will bear your sins. But they are not going to bear their sins at all. They are liars. 13 But they shall carry their weights and weights with their weights. And they are asked on the day of resurrection about what they used to fabricate. 14 And we sent Nuh to his people and he remained among them 1,000 years but 50 years. Then the Flood took them when they were wrongdoers. 15 And we saved him and the companions of the ship and we made it a sign to the ‘alamin. 16 And Ibrahim, when he said to his people: Worship Allah and fear him. That is better for you if you know. 17 You only worship instead of Allah idols and you create falsehood. Those whom you worship instead of Allah do not possess provision for you. So seek the provision with Allah and worship him and be grateful to him. To him are you returned. 18 And if you accuse of lying then nations before you accused of lying. And nothing is on the messenger but the obvious notice. 19 Do they not see how Allah begins creation then repeats it? That is easy for Allah. 20 Say: Travel in the Earth and see how he began creation. Then Allah creates the last emergence. Allah is mighty over everything. 21 He tortures whom he wills and has mercy on whom he wills and to him are you turned. 22 And you do not escape into the Earth nor into the sky. And you do not have any protector or helper instead of Allah. 23 And those who have disbelieved in Allah’s verses and the meeting with him, those have despaired of my mercy. And those, theirs is painful torture. 24 And his people’s answer was nothing but that they said: Kill him or burn him. But Allah saved him from the fire. In that are signs for people who believe. 25 And he said: You have only taken idols instead of Allah out of affection among you in the dunya life. Then on the day of resurrection you renounce one another and curse one another and your abode is the fire and you have no helpers. 26 And Lut believed in him and said: I am emigrating to my lord. He is the mighty, the wise. 27 And we gave him Ishaq and Ya’qub and we put in his offspring the prophethood and the Book. And we gave him his wage in the dunya. And he in the hereafter is of the righteous. 28 And Lut when he said to his people: You commit fahishah that none has preceded you in of the ‘alamin. 29 Do you go with the men and cut the way and commit enormity in your assembly? And his people’s answer was nothing but that they said: Bring us Allah’s torture if you are of the truthful. 30 He said: Lord, help me against the corrupting people. 31 And when our messengers came to Ibrahim with the good news they said: We are destroying the people of this village. Its people were wrongdoers. 32 He said: Lut is in it. They said: We know who is in it. We shall save him and his family except his woman. She was of the previous ones. 33 And when our messengers came to Lut he was troubled because of them and was frustrated because of them. And they said: Do not fear or grieve. We are saving you and your family except your woman. She was of the previous ones. 34 We are bringing down upon the people of this village rijz from the sky because they were fasiq. 35 And we left a clear sign of it for people who comprehend. 36 And to Madyan their brother Shuaib. And he said: People, worship Allah and hope for the last day and do not act wickedly in the land as corruptors. 37 But they called him a liar and the earthquake took them and they became perching in their home. 38 And Ad and Thamud and it became clear to you from their dwellings. And the Devil adorned for them their deeds and blocked them from the way and they were sighted. 39 And Qarun and Fir’awn and Haman. And Musa came to them with the proofs but they were arrogant in the land and were not preceding. 40 So each we took for his sin. So of them he whom we sent a tempest on and of them he whom the cry took and of them he whom we sank the Earth with and of them he whom we drowned. And Allah would not wrong them but they were wronging themselves. 41 The similitude of those who have taken protectors instead of Allah is like the similitude of the spider that has taken a house. And the weakest of houses is the spider’s house, if they knew. 42 Allah knows what they invoke instead of him of a thing. And he is the mighty, the wise. 43 And those similitudes, we coin them for people and none comprehends them but the knowledgeable. 44 Allah created the skies and the Earth in truth. In that there is a sign for the believers. 45 Read what you have been inspired with of the book and perform salat. Salat forbids fahsha’ and baseness and Allah’s dhikr is bigger. And Allah knows what you do. 46 And do not argue with the People of the Book except in that which is best, except those who have wronged among them, and say: We have believed in that which has been sent down to us and sent down to you and our god and your God are one and we are Muslims to him. 47 And thus have we sent down to you the book. So those whom we gave the Book to believe in it. And among these is he who believes in it. And none rejects our verses but the kafirun. 48 And you were not reading before it any book nor writing it with your right hand; then the nullifiers would have doubted. 49 Rather, it is clear verses in the chests of those who have been given knowledge. And none rejects our verses but the wrongdoers. 50 And they have said: Why have signs not been sent down upon him from his lord? Say: The signs are only with Allah and I am only an obvious nadhir. 51 Has it not sufficed them that we have sent down upon you the book read to them? In that there is mercy and remembrance for people who believe. 52 Say: Allah was sufficient between me and you as a witness. He knows what is in the skies and the Earth. And those who have believed in falsehood and have disbelieved in Allah, those are the losers. 53 And they ask you to hasten the torture. And had it not been for a designated term the torture would have come to them. And it will come to them suddenly while they do not perceive. 54 They ask you to hasten the torture. And Jahannam is surrounding the kafirun. 55 On a day the torture covers them from above them and from beneath their feet and he says: Taste what you used to do. 56 My slaves who have believed, my Earth is wide so me, worship me. 57 Every soul is the taster of death. Then to us you are returned. 58 And those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds, we will house them from the Jannah, rooms, rivers running beneath them, abiding indefinitely therein. Excellent was the wage of the workers, 59 Those who have been patient and put their trust in their lord. 60 And how many a beast does not carry its provision? Allah provides for it and you. And he is the hearer, the learned. 61 And if you asked them who created the skies and the Earth and subjected the sun and the moon, they would say: Allah. So how are they deluded? 62 Allah extends the provision for whom he wills of his slaves and is able for him. Allah is learned in everything. 63 And if you asked them who sent down water from the sky and vivified the Earth therewith after its death, they would say: Allah. Say: Praise be to Lah. But most of them do not comprehend. 64 And this dunya life is nothing but fun and play. And the home of the hereafter is the animal, if they knew. 65 And when they have embarked in the ship they have invoked Allah being sincere towards him in religion. But when he has saved them to the land, behold, they associate 66 To disbelieve in what we have given them and to amuse themselves. But they will know. 67 Have they not seen that we have made a secure sanctum and people are taken forcibly from around them? So do they believe in falsehood and disbelieve in Allah’s grace? 68 And who is more unjust than he who has fabricated a lie against Allah or has called the truth a lie when it has come to him? Is there not in Jahannam a shelter for the kafirun? 69 And those who do jihad for us, we will guide them to our ways. And Allah is with the good-doers.
