1 Alif lam mim. 2 Allah--there is no god but him, the living one, the qayyum. 3 He has sent down upon you the book in truth confirming what is in front of him and he sent down the Torah and the Injil 4 Before, guidance for people, and he sent down the Furqan. Those who have disbelieved in Allah’s verses have severe torture. And Allah is mighty, the one of vengeance. 5 Allah--nothing on the Earth nor in the sky dodges him. 6 He is the one who shapes you in the wombs how he wills. There is no god but him, the mighty, the wise. 7 He is the one who sent down upon you the book; of it are muhkamat verses. They are the mother of the book and others are mutashabihat. As for those in whose hearts is aberration, they follow what he copied from it, seeking fitnah and seeking its interpretation. And none knows its interpretation but Allah. And the firm in knowledge say: We have believed in it. All is from our lord. And none remembers except the possessors of albab. 8 Our lord, let our hearts not deviate after you have guided us, and give us mercy from your presence. You are the giver. 9 Our lord, you are the gatherer of people to a day wherein there is no doubt. Allah does not lag behind the term. 10 Those who have disbelieved, neither their money nor their children will avail them against Allah, and those--they are the fuel of the fire. 11 Like the custom of Fir’awn’s family and those before them, they called our verses a lie so Allah took them for their sins. And Allah is severe in punishment. 12 Say to those who have disbelieved: You will be defeated and gathered to Jahannam, and miserable was the bed. 13 You had a sign in the two bands that met. One band fighting in the way of Allah and another disbelieving. They see them as two likenesses of them with the sight of the eye. And Allah supports with his help whom he wills. In that is a lesson for the possessors of sight. 14 Adorned has been for people the love of lusts--of women and sons and amassed qanatir of gold and silver and branded horses and cattle and tilth. That is the goods of the dunya life but Allah has the loveliness of the retreat. 15 Say: Shall I inform you of better than that? For those who have feared, with their lord are jannat, rivers running beneath them, abiding indefinitely therein, and purified husbands and pleasure from Allah. And Allah is a seer of the slaves. 16 Those who say: Our lord, we have believed so forgive us our sins and protect us from the torture of the fire. 17 The patient and the truthful and the obedient and the spenders and those who ask for forgiveness in the bewitchments. 18 Allah has testified that there is no god but him and the angels and the possessors of knowledge, standing in equity. There is no god but him, the mighty, the wise. 19 The religion with Allah is Islam. And those who were given the Book did not differ except after knowledge came to them wrongly among them. And he who disbelieves in Allah’s verses, Allah is quick in account. 20 And if they argue with you say: I have surrendered my face to Lah and he who has followed me. And say to those who were given the Book and the ummiyun: Have you surrendered? Then if they have surrendered then are they guided. But if they turn away then only the notice is upon you. And Allah is seer of the slaves. 21 Those who disbelieve in Allah’s verses and kill the prophets without right and kill those who command equity among people--give them good news of painful torture. 22 Those are the ones whose deeds have become worthless in the dunya and the hereafter. And they have no helpers. 23 Have you not seen those who were given a share of the Book? They are called to Allah’s book to judge among them then a party of them turns away and they are averse. 24 That is because they said: The fire will not touch us except for a few days. And deluded them in their religion has what they used to fabricate. 25 Then how when we have gathered them for a day, there is no doubt about it? And every soul is paid in full what it has earned and they are not wronged. 26 Say: Allahumma, owner of the dominion, you give the dominion to whom you will and take away the dominion from whom you will and honour whom you will and vulgarise whom you will. In your hand is good. You are mighty over everything. 27 You thrust the night into the day and thrust the day into the night and bring out the living man from the dead man and bring the dead man out of the living and give provision to whom you will without account. 28 Let the believers not take the kafirun as protectors instead of the believers. And he who does that does not have in anything from Allah except that you fear them as a precaution. And Allah warns you of himself. And to Allah is the destiny. 29 Say: If you conceal what is in your chests or reveal it, Allah knows it. And he knows what is in the skies and what is on the Earth. And Allah is mighty over everything. 30 The day every soul finds what it has done of good presented and what it has done of evil it wishes that there were a far distance between it and it. And Allah warns you of himself. And Allah is kind to the slaves. 31 Say: If you love Allah then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is a forgiver, merciful. 32 Say: Obey Allah and the messenger. Then if they turn away then Allah does not love the kafirun. 33 Allah chose Adam and Nuh and Ibrahim’s family and Imran’s family over the ‘alamin. 34 Offspring of one another. And Allah is a hearer, learned. 35 When Imran’s woman said: Lord, I have vowed to you what is in my belly, dedicated. So accept from me. You, you are the hearer, the learned. 36 Then when she had laid her she said: Lord, I have laid her, a female. And Allah is a knower of what she had laid and the male is not like the female. And I have named her Maryam and I seek refuge for her in you and her offspring from the rajim Devil. 37 So her lord accepted her well and she caused her to sprout well and we put her in the care of Zakariyya. Whenever Zakariyya entered the mihrab upon her he found provision with her. He said: Maryam, whence do you have this? She said: It is from Allah. Allah gives provision to whom he wills without account. 38 There Zakariyya invoked his lord. He said: Lord, give me from your presence offspring. You are the hearer of invocation. 39 Then the angels called him while he was standing, praying in the mihrab. Allah gives you good news of Yahya, confirming a word from Allah, and a chief and a continent man and a prophet among the righteous. 40 He said: Lord, how can I have a boy and bulk has reached me and my woman is infertile? He said: Thus: Allah does what he wills. 41 He said: Lord, make me a sign. He said: Your sign is not to speak to people for three days except with gesture. And mention your lord much and praise in the evening and the early morning. 42 And when the angels said: Maryam, Allah has chosen you and purified you and chosen you over the women of the ‘alamin. 43 Maryam, be obedient to your lord and do sujud and bow with the bowers. 44 That is from the news of the ghayb. We inspire you with it. And you were not in their presence when they threw their pens as to which of them takes charge of Maryam. And you were not in their presence when they dispute. 45 When the angels said: Maryam, Allah gives you good news of a word from him. His name is The Messiah Isa Son Of Maryam, a dignitary in the dunya and the hereafter and of the Muqarrabun. 46 And he speaks to people in the cradle and in middle age and is among the righteous. 47 She said: Lord, how can I have a child when a man has not touched me? He said: Thus does Allah create what he wills. When he decides a matter he only says to it: Be and it is. 48 And he teaches him the Book and the Wisdom and the Torah and the Injil. 49 And a messenger to Banu Isra’il: I have come to you with a sign from your lord that I create for you from clay like the form of a bird and blow into it and it is a bird with Allah’s permission. And I heal the blind and the leper and I vivify the dead with Allah’s permission. And I inform you of what you eat and what you lay by in your houses. In that there is a sign for you if you are believers. 50 Confirming what is in front of me of the Torah and to permit for you some of that which had been forbidden to you and I have come to you with a sign from your lord, so fear Allah and follow me. 51 Allah is my lord and your lord so worship him. This is a straight path. 52 Then when Isa perceived kufr among them he said: Who are my helpers to Allah? The Hawariyun said: We are Allah’s helpers. We have believed in Allah, and bear witness that we are Muslims. 53 Our lord, we have believed in what you have sent down and we have followed the messenger, so write us with the witnesses. 54 And they deceived and Allah deceived. And Allah is the best of deceivers. 55 When Allah said: Isa, I am causing you to die and am raising you to me and purifying you of those who disbelieved and I am putting those who followed you above those who disbelieved to the day of resurrection. Then to me is your return and I judge between you concerning what you were differing in. 56 And as for those who disbelieved, I torture them with severe torture, in the dunya and the hereafter. And they have no helpers. 57 And as for those who believed and did the righteous deeds, we compensate them fully with their wage. And Allah does not love the wrongdoers. 58 That do we read upon you of the verses and the wise Dhikr. 59 The example of Isa with Allah is as the example of Adam. He created him from dirt then said to him: Be and he is. 60 The truth from your lord so do not be of the doubters. 61 So he who argues with you about it after what has come to you of knowledge, say: Come, let us call our sons and your sons and our women and your women and ourselves and yourselves then let us execrate and put the curse of Allah on the liars. 62 This, it is the true story. And there is no god but Allah. And Allah, he is the mighty, the wise. 63 And if they turn away, Allah knows the corrupters. 64 Say: People of the Book, come to a sawa’ word between us and you that we do not worship but Allah nor associate with him at all nor take one another as lords instead of Allah. Then if they turn away say: Bear witness that we are Muslims. 65 People of the Book, why do you argue concerning Ibrahim when the Torah and the Injil were not sent down except after him? So do you not comprehend? 66 You, those, you have argued about what you have knowledge of, so why do you argue about what you do not have knowledge of? And Allah knows and you do not know. 67 Ibrahim was not a Jew nor a Nasrani but a Hanif, a Muslim, and was not of the mushrikun. 68 The first man of the people with Ibrahim are those who have followed him, and this prophet and those who have believed. And Allah is the protector of the believers. 69 A band of the People of the Book have wished to misguide you but they do not misguide except themselves and they do not perceive. 70 People of the Book, why do you disbelieve in Allah’s verses when you testify? 71 People of the Book, why do you intermingle the truth with falsehood and conceal the truth when you know? 72 And a band of the People of the Book have said: Believe in what has been sent down upon those who have believed at the beginning of the day and disbelieve at the end of it. Perhaps they will return. 73 And do not believe except him who has followed your religion. Say: The guidance is Allah’s guidance, lest the like of what has been given to you be given to someone or they argue with you with your lord. Say: The favour is in Allah’s hand. He gives it to whom he wills and Allah is wide, learned. 74 He specialises with his mercy whom he wills. And Allah is the possessor of the great favour. 75 And of the People of the Book is he who, if you feel safe from him with a qintar, he returns it to you. And among them is he who, if you feel safe from him with a dinar, he does not return it to you except what you have lasted standing over him. That is because they have said: There is not a way over us among the ummiyun. And they say a lie concerning Allah while they know. 76 No, he who has fulfilled his covenant and has feared, Allah loves the fearers. 77 Those who buy Allah’s covenant and their oaths at a low price, those--there is no share for them in the hereafter and Allah does not speak to them or look at them on the day of resurrection or purify them and theirs is painful torture. 78 And among them is a party who distort their tongues with the Book that you might think it from the Book and it is not from the Book and they say: It is from Allah. And it is not from Allah. And they say a lie against Allah when they know. 79 It was not for a human being that Allah should give him the Book and the wisdom and the prophethood then he says to people: Be slaves to me instead of Allah but: Be rabbaniyun because you have been teaching the Book and because you have been studying. 80 And he does not command you to take the angels and the prophets as lords. Would he command you to kufr after when you are Muslims? 81 And when Allah took the covenant of the prophets: What I have given you of a book and wisdom then a messenger has come to you confirming what is with you, you shall believe in him and help him. He said: Have you ratified and taken my compact upon that? They said: We have ratified. He said: Then bear witness and I am with you among the witnesses. 82 So those who have turned away after that, those are the fasiqun. 83 So is it other than Allah’s religion they seek? And to him have surrendered those in the skies and the Earth, willingly and unwillingly, and to him are they returned. 84 Say: We have believed in Allah and what was sent down upon us and what was sent down upon Ibrahim and Isma’il and Ishaq and Ya’qub and the tribes and what was given to Musa and Isa and the prophets from their lord. We do not distinguish between any of them and we are Muslims to him. 85 And he who seeks other than Islam as a religion, it will not be accepted from him and he in the hereafter is among the losers. 86 How will Allah guide a people that has disbelieved after their belief and has testified that the messenger is true and the proofs have come to them? And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. 87 Those, their recompense is that upon them is the curse of Allah and the angels and the people altogether. 88 Abiding therein indefinitely. The torture is not lightened from them and they are not regarded. 89 Except those who have repented after that and reformed. Then Allah is a forgiver, merciful. 90 Those who have disbelieved after their faith, then they have increased in kufr. Their repentance will not be accepted and those, they are the straying. 91 Those who have disbelieved and died while kuffar, the fulness of the Earth of gold will not be accepted from any of them even if he ransomed it. Those, theirs is painful torture and they have no helpers. 92 You will not attain piety until you spend of what you love. And what you spend of a thing, Allah knows of it. 93 All food was permitted for the Banu Isra’il except what Isra’il had forbidden himself before the Torah is sent down. Say: So bring the Torah and read it if you are truthful. 94 So he who has fabricated a lie against Allah after that, then those, they are the wrongdoers. 95 Say: Allah has told the truth so follow the cult of Ibrahim a Hanif. And he was not of the mushrikun. 96 The first house placed for people is that in Bakkah, blessed and a guidance for the ‘alamin. 97 Therein are clear signs, the Station of Ibrahim, and he who entered it was safe. And Lah’s, upon people is the Hijj of the House, he who was able a way to it. And he who has disbelieved, then Allah is rich from the ‘alamin. 98 Say: People of the Book, why do you disbelieve in Allah’s verses when Allah is a witness over what you do? 99 Say: People of the Book, why do you hinder from the way of Allah, seeking it as crookedness when you are witnesses? And Allah is not unaware of what you do. 100 Those who have believed, if you obey a party from those given the Book they will bring you back after your faith as kafirun. 101 And how could you disbelieve when Allah’s verses are read to you and his messenger is among you? And he who clings to Allah has been guided to a straight path. 102 Those who have believed, fear Allah. A right are precautions of him. And do not die except when you are Muslims. 103 And hold firmly to Allah’s rope altogether and do not separate. And remember Allah’s grace upon you when you were enemies and he tamed between your hearts and you became brothers by his grace. And you were on the edge of a pit of the fire and he rescued you from it. Thus Allah clarifies his verses for you. Perhaps you will be guided. 104 And let there be among you a nation calling to good and commanding kindness and forbidding baseness. And those are the successful. 105 And do not be like those who separated and differed after what had come to them--the proofs. And those, theirs is great torture. 106 The day faces turn white and faces turn black. And as for those whose faces have turned black: Have you disbelieved after your belief? Then taste the torture for what you used to disbelieve. 107 And as for those whose faces have turned white, they are in Allah’s mercy. They are abiding therein indefinitely. 108 These are Allah’s verses. We read them to you in truth. And Allah does not want wrong for the ‘alamin. 109 And Lah’s is what is in the skies and what is on the Earth. And to Allah are matters returned. 110 You were the best nation taken out for people, commanding kindness and forbidding baseness and believing in Allah. And had the People of the Book believed they would have had good. Among them are the believers and most of them are the fasiqun. 111 They will not harm you except harm. And if they fight you, they will turn their backsides on you then they are not helped. 112 Humiliation has been struck upon them wherever they have been met with except with a rope from Allah and a rope from people. And they came back with anger from Allah and poverty was struck upon them. That is because they used to disbelieve in Allah’s verses and they kill the prophets without right. That is because they have disbelieved and used to transgress. 113 They are not equal. Among the People of the Book is a nation standing reading Allah's verses during the hours of the night and they do sujud. 114 They believe in Allah and the last day and command kindness and forbid baseness and hasten in good deeds. And those are of the righteous. 115 And what they do of good they will not disbelieve in it. And Allah is a knower of the fearers. 116 Those who have disbelieved, their monies will not avail them, nor their children, against Allah at all and those are the companions of the fire. They abide therein indefinitely. 117 The similitude of what they spend in this dunya life is like the similitude of a wind wherein is severe cold. It struck the tilth of a people that wronged themselves and destroyed it. And Allah did not wrong them but they wrong themselves. 118 Those who have believed, do not take a clique instead of you, not neglecting you craziness. They have wished what has distressed you. Hatred has appeared from their mouths and what their chests conceal is bigger. We have clarified the verses for you if you are comprehending. 119 You, those, you love them and they do not love you and you believe in the book, all of it. And when they have met you they have said: We have believed. And when alone they have bitten the fingertips at you from rage. Say: Die in your rage. Allah is learned in that in the chests. 120 If good touches you it grieves them and if evil strikes you they rejoice in it. And if you are patient and fear, their trick does not harm you at all. Allah is encompassing of what they do. 121 And when you left your family early to post the believers in positions for the fight. And Allah is a hearer, learned. 122 When two bands among you grieved that they lost heart, Allah being their protector. And in Allah let the believers put their trust. 123 And Allah helped you at Badr while you were weak. So fear Allah; perhaps you are grateful. 124 When you say to the believers: Will it not be sufficient for you that your lord aids you with 3,000 of the angels sent down? 125 Yes, if you are patient and fear and they come to you immediately, this your lord aids you with 5,000 of the angels marked. 126 And Allah has not made it but good news for you and that your hearts may be content with it. And victory is not but from Allah, the mighty, the wise. 127 To cut off a party of those who have disbelieved or suppress them so they veer failing. 128 You have nothing of the matter whether he repents for them or tortures them. And they are wrongdoers. 129 And Lah’s is what is in the skies and what is on the Earth. He forgives whom he wills and tortures whom he wills. And Allah is forgiving, merciful. 130 Those who have believed, do not consume interest, doubling, multiplication. And fear Allah; perhaps you will succeed. 131 And fear the fire which has been prepared for the kafirun 132 And obey Allah and the messenger; perhaps you will be shown mercy. 133 And hasten to forgiveness from your lord and a jannah. Its breadth is the skies and the Earth, prepared for the fearers. 134 Those who spend in prosperity and calamity and those restraining rage and those pardoning people and Allah loves the good-doers. 135 And those when they have done fahishah or wronged themselves, they have remembered Allah and have asked for forgiveness for their sins. And who forgives sins but Allah? And they did not persist in what they did while they know. 136 Those, their recompense is forgiveness from their lord and jannat, rivers running beneath them, abiding therein indefinitely. And excellent was the workers’ wage. 137 Customs have passed away before you so travel in the Earth and look how the result of those who accused of lying was. 138 This is a statement for the people and guidance and an admonition for the fearers. 139 And do not weaken and do not grieve and you are the superior ones if you are believers. 140 If an ulcer has touched you an ulcer the like of it has touched the people. And those days, we alternate them among the people and that Allah may know those who have believed and he takes martyrs from you. And Allah does not love the wrongdoers. 141 And that Allah may purge those who have believed and destroy the kafirun. 142 Or did you think that you would enter the Jannah while Allah had not yet known those who had waged jihad among you and known the patient? 143 And you used to wish for death before you met it and then you saw it while you were looking. 144 And Muhammad is nothing but a messenger. The messengers passed away before him. So if he dies or is killed, you turn back on your heels? And he who turns back on his heels will not harm Allah at all. And Allah will reward the grateful. 145 And it was not for a soul to die except with Allah’s permission, a scheduled book. And he who wants the recompense of the dunya, we give him thereof; and he who wants the recompense of the hereafter, we give him thereof. And we shall reward the grateful. 146 And how many a prophet fought? With him many ribbiyyun. But they did not lose heart for what afflicted them in the way of Allah nor did they weaken nor did they give in. And Allah loves the patient. 147 And their speech was nothing but that they said: Our lord, forgive us our sins and our excess in our affair and make our feet firm and grant us victory over the kafirun people. 148 So Allah gave them the reward of the dunya and the goodness of the reward of the hereafter. And Allah loves the good-doers. 149 Those who have believed, if you obey those who have disbelieved, they will turn you away on your heels then you will veer as losers. 150 Rather, Allah is your mawla and he is the best of helpers. 151 We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved because they have associated with Allah; no authority for it was sent down. And their shelter is the fire. And miserable was the shelter of the wrongdoers. 152 And Allah verified his promise to you when you kill them with his permission until when you lost heart and contended concerning the command and disobeyed after what he showed you what you love. Among you is he who wants the dunya and among you he who wants the hereafter. Then he turned you from them to test you. And he pardoned you. And Allah is a possessor of favour for the believers. 153 When you go up and do not distort upon anyone and the messenger calls you in your rear. So he remunerated you with grief for grief so that you do not grieve over what you missed out on nor what befell you. And Allah is an expert in what you do. 154 Then he sent down upon you after the grief security--drowsiness covering a band of you and a band whose souls distressed them, thinking of Allah other than the truth. The thought of the Jahiliyyah, saying: Do we have anything from the affair? Say: The affair, all of it, is Lah’s. They hide in themselves what they do not reveal to you. They say: If we had something from the affair we would not have been killed here. Say: Had you been in your houses those whom killing was written upon would have gone out to their beds. And that Allah might test what is in your chests and that he might purge what is in your hearts. And Allah is learned in that in the chests. 155 Those who turned away among you on a day the two throngs met--the Devil only made them slip for some of what they had earned. And Allah pardoned them. Allah is a forgiver, clement. 156 Those who have believed, do not be like those who have disbelieved and have said to their brothers when they travelled in the land or were fighting: Had they been with us they would not have died and they would not have been killed, that Allah might make that grief in their hearts. And Allah vivifies and causes to die and Allah is a seer of what you do. 157 And if you are killed in the way of Allah or die, forgiveness from Allah and mercy are better than what they gather. 158 And if you die or are killed, to Allah are you gathered. 159 So because of mercy from Allah you dealt gently with them. And had you been rude, harsh of heart, they would have dispersed around you. So pardon them and forgive them and consult them in the matter. Then when you have decided, put your trust in Allah. Allah loves the trustful. 160 If Allah helps you, you have no defeater, and if he deserts you, who is the one who helps you after him? And in Allah let the believers put their trust. 161 And it was not for a prophet to embezzle. And he who embezzles brings what he has embezzled on the day of resurrection. Then every soul is paid in full what it has earned and they are not wronged. 162 So is he who follows Allah’s pleasure as he who returns resentfully from Allah and his shelter is Jahannam and miserable was the destiny? 163 They are degrees with Allah and Allah is a seer of what they do. 164 Allah was benevolent to the believers when he raised among them a messenger from themselves reading to them his verses and purifying them and teaching them the book and the wisdom although they were before in obvious error. 165 And when a disaster has struck you, you had struck twice the like of it. You said: Whence is this? Say: It is from yourselves. Allah is mighty over everything. 166 And what befell you on the day the two throngs met with Allah’s permission and that he might know the believers 167 And that he might know those who played the hypocrite. And it was said to them: Come, fight in the way of Allah or push back. They said: Had we known fighting we would have followed you. They to kufr on that day were closer than they to faith, saying with their mouths what is not in their hearts. And Allah is a knower of what they conceal. 168 Those who have said of their brothers when they sat: Had they obeyed us they would not have been killed. Say: Then avert death from yourselves, if you are truthful. 169 And do not think those who have been killed in the way of Allah are dead. Rather, alive, with their lord; they are provided for, 170 Rejoicing in what Allah has given them of his favour, and they receive good news about those who have not followed them of those left behind, that there is no fear upon them nor do they grieve. 171 They receive good news of grace from Allah and favour and that Allah does not squander the believers’ wage. 172 Those who have responded to Lah and the messenger after the ulcer has afflicted them, for those who have acted good among them and have feared there is a great wage. 173 Those to whom the people said: The people have gathered against you so fear them. But it increased them in faith and they said: Our sufficiency is Allah and excellent was the agent. 174 So they turned around with grace from Allah and favour, no evil touched them. And they followed the pleasure of Allah and Allah is a possessor of great favour. 175 That is only the Devil that frightens his protectors so do not fear them but fear me if you are believers. 176 And let those who hasten into kufr not grieve you. They will not harm Allah at all. Allah wants not to make them a share in the hereafter. And theirs is great torture. 177 Those who have bought kufr with faith will not harm Allah at all and theirs is painful torture. 178 And let those who have disbelieved not think that we give them respite, good for themselves. We only give them respite that they may increase in iniquity. And theirs is base torture. 179 Allah would not leave the believers on what you are on until he might distinguish the bad one from the good. And Allah would not apprise you of the ghayb but Allah chooses from his messengers whom he wills, so believe in Allah and his messengers, and if you believe and fear, you have a great wage. 180 And let those who are stingy with what Allah has given them from his favour not think it is a good for them. Rather it is an evil for them. What they were stingy with will encircle on the day of resurrection. And Lah’s is the inheritance of the skies and the Earth. And Allah is an expert in what you do. 181 Allah has heard the speech of those who have said: Allah is poor and we are rich. We shall write what they have said and their killing the prophets without right and say: Taste the torture of the fire. 182 That is because of what their hands have offered and that Allah is not an evildoer to the slaves. 183 Those who said: Allah has recognised from us that we should not believe a messenger until he brings us a qurban which the fire consumes. Say: Messengers came before me with the proofs and with what you speak. So why did you kill them if you are truthful? 184 So if they have called you a liar then messengers were called liars before you who came with the proofs and the Zubur and the bright book. 185 Every soul tastes death and your wages are only paid in full on the day of resurrection. Then he who has been displaced from the fire and admitted to the Jannah has succeeded. And the dunya life is nothing but the enjoyment of delusion. 186 You shall be tested in your monies and yourselves and hear from those who were given the Book before you and from those who have associated much harm. And if you are patient and fear, that is from the determination of matters. 187 And when Allah took a covenant of those who were given the Book: You shall make it clear to people and not conceal it. But they threw it behind their backs and bought it at a low price. So miserable was what they buy. 188 Do not think that those who rejoice in what they have brought and who love to be praised for what they have not done--so do not think that they are going to escape from the torture. And theirs is painful torture. 189 And Lah’s is the dominion of the skies and the Earth. And Allah is mighty over everything. 190 In the creation of the skies and the Earth and the difference of the night and the day are signs for the possessors of albab. 191 Those who remember Allah standing and sitting and on their sides and ponder on the creation of the skies and the Earth. Our lord, you have not created this in vain. Praise be to you so save us from the torture of the fire. 192 Our lord, you, him you admit to the fire, you have disgraced him. And there are no helpers for the wrongdoers. 193 Our lord, we have heard a caller calling to the faith: Believe in your lord. So we have believed. Our lord, so forgive us our sins and atone for us our evil deeds and cause us to die with the pious. 194 Our lord, and give us what you have promised us through your messengers and do not disgrace us on the day of resurrection. You do not break the appointment. 195 Then their lord responded to them: I do not waste a deed of a worker among you, of male or female, one another’s. So those who emigrated and were expelled from their homes and were harmed in my way and fought and were killed, I will atone for them their evil deeds and admit them to jannat, rivers running beneath them. A reward from Allah. And Allah, with him is the best reward. 196 Do not let the instability of those who have disbelieved in the country delude you. 197 A little enjoyment then their shelter is Jahannam and miserable was the bed. 198 But those who have feared their lord, theirs are jannat, rivers running beneath them, abiding therein indefinitely, a lodging from Allah. And what is with Allah is best for the righteous. 199 And among the People of the Book are those who believe in Allah and what has been sent down to you and what has been sent down to them, humble towards Lah. They do not buy Allah’s verses at a low price. Those, for them is their wage with their lord. Allah is the quick in account. 200 Those who have believed, be patient and bear stoutly and be constant and fear Allah; perhaps you will succeed.
