1 Alif lam mim. 2 The Romans have been defeated 3 In the nearest part of the Earth and they after their defeat will defeat, 4 In a bid’ of years. Lah’s is the affair before and after. And on that day the believers rejoice 5 In Allah’s victory. He grants victory to whom he wills. And he is the mighty, the merciful. 6 Allah’s promise--Allah does not lag behind his promise but most people do not know. 7 They know the appearance of the dunya life but they, of the hereafter, are unmindful. 8 Have they not pondered within themselves? Allah did not create the skies and the Earth and what is between them except in truth and a designated term. And many of the people are kafirun in the meeting of their lord. 9 Have they not travelled in the Earth and looked how the result of those before them was? They were stronger than they in strength and ploughed the land and constructed it more than what they had constructed it. And their messengers came to them with the proofs. So Allah would not wrong them but they were wronging themselves. 10 Then the result of those who did evil was evil because they had called Allah’s verses a lie and would mock them. 11 Allah begins creation then repeats it then to him you are returned. 12 And on a day the Hour comes the criminals despair. 13 And they did not have among their partners intercessors and were kafirun in their partners. 14 And on a day the Hour comes, that day they disperse. 15 Then as for those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds, they are happy in a meadow. 16 And as for those who have disbelieved and have called our verses and the meeting of the hereafter a lie, those are sent for into the torture. 17 So praise be to Allah when you reach the evening and when you reach the morning. 18 And his is the praise in the skies and the Earth and in the evening and when you reach noon. 19 He brings out the living one from the dead one and brings out the dead one from the living one and vivifies the Earth after its death and thus are you brought out. 20 And of his signs is that he created you from dirt then behold, you are a man, you spread out. 21 And of his signs is that he created for you from yourselves husbands to dwell in. And he put between you affection and mercy. In that are signs for people who ponder. 22 And of his signs is the creation of the skies and the Earth and the difference in your tongues and your colours. In that there are signs for the ‘alamin. 23 And of his signs is your sleep in the night and the day and your seeking of his favour. In that there are signs for people who hear. 24 And of his signs he shows you the lightning--fear and hope, and he sends down water from the sky and vivifies the Earth therewith after its death. In that there are signs for people who comprehend. 25 And of his signs is that the sky and the Earth stand by his command. Then when he calls you from the Earth, behold, you come out. 26 And his are those in the skies and the Earth. All are obedient to him. 27 And he is the one who begins creation then repeats it and it is easier for him. And his is the similitude, the high one, in the skies and the Earth. And he is the mighty, the wise. 28 He has given you a similitude from yourselves. Do you have of what your right hands have possessed any partners in what we have provided you with, so you are equal therein, fearing them as you fear yourselves? Thus do we detail the verses for people who comprehend. 29 Rather, those who have done wrong have followed their desires without knowledge. So who guides him whom Allah has misguided? And they have no helpers. 30 So set your face to the Hanif religion. Allah’s fitrah which he has split people on. There is no change to Allah’s creation. That is the worthy religion but most people do not know. 31 Repentant to him and fear him and perform salat and do not be of the mushrikun. 32 Of those who have broken up their religion and were parties, every party rejoicing in what they have. 33 And when harm has touched people they have invoked their lord repenting to him. Then when he has caused them to taste mercy from him behold, a party of them associate with their lord 34 To disbelieve in what we have given them. So enjoy and you will know. 35 Or have we sent upon them authority and it speaks of what they were associating with him? 36 And when we have caused people to taste mercy they have rejoiced in it. And if an evil hits them for what their hands have offered, behold, they despair. 37 Have they not seen that Allah spreads the provision for whom he wills and straitens? 38 So give the relative his right and the poor man and the traveller. That is best for those who want the face of Allah. And those, they are the successful. 39 And what you have given from interest to increase in people’s monies, they do not increase with Allah. And what you have given from zakat, wanting the face of Allah, those are the doubled. 40 Allah is the one who has created you then provided for you then causes you to die then vivifies you. Are there any of your partners who does any of that of a thing? Praise be to him and exalted from what they associate! 41 Corruption has appeared in the land and the sea for what the hands of the people have earned that he may make them taste some of that which they have done; perhaps they will return. 42 Say: Travel in the Earth and look how the result of those before was. Most of them were mushrikun. 43 So set your face to the worthy religion before a day comes that has no motive from Allah. On that day they are divided. 44 He who has disbelieved then against him is his kufr. And those who have done a good deed then for themselves do they spread 45 That he may recompense those who have believed and done the righteous deeds from his favour. He does not love the kafirun. 46 And of his signs is that he sends the winds as bearers of good news and that he may cause you to taste some of his mercy and that the ships may run by his command and that you may seek some of his favour, and perhaps you will be grateful. 47 And we sent before you messengers to their people and they came to them with the proofs then we took retribution on those who had committed crime. And it was a right upon us to help the believers. 48 Allah is the one who sends the winds and they stimulate clouds and he spreads them in the sky how he wills and makes them fragments so you see the drizzle come out from their midst. Then when he has struck therewith whom he wills of his slaves behold, they rejoice. 49 And certainly they were before it is sent down upon them, before it, despairing. 50 So look at the effect of Allah’s mercy, how he vivifies the Earth after its death. That, he vivifies the dead. And he is mighty over everything. 51 And if we sent a wind and they saw it turn yellow, they would keep disbelieving after it. 52 So you do not make the dead hear nor make the deaf hear the call when they have turned tail fleeing. 53 And you cannot guide the blind man from their error. You do not make to hear but him who believes in our verses so they are Muslims. 54 Allah is the one who created you from weakness then made after weakness strength then made after strength weakness and grey hair. He creates what he wills and he is the learned, the capable. 55 And on a day the Hour comes the criminals swear they have not remained but an hour. Thus were they deluded. 56 And those who had been given the knowledge and the faith said: You remained in Allah’s book to the day of rising. And this is the day of rising but you did not know. 57 So on that day their excuse does not benefit those who have wronged and they are not asked for favour. 58 And we have given for people in this Quran of every similitude. And if you have brought them a verse those who have disbelieved will say: You are nothing but pretenders. 59 Thus does Allah stamp the hearts of those who do not know. 60 So be patient. Allah’s promise is true. And do not let those who are not certain consider you light.
