1 Alif lam mim. 2 Those are the signs of the wise book. 3 Guidance and mercy to the good-doers. 4 Those who perform salat and give the zakat and they in the hereafter are certain. 5 Those are on guidance from their lord. And those are the successful. 6 And of the people is he who buys the fun of hadith to misguide from the way of Allah without knowledge and to take it as a quip. Those, theirs is base torture. 7 And when our verses are read to him he has turned away arrogantly as though he had not heard them, as though in his ears was deafness. So give him good news of painful torture. 8 Those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds, theirs are jannat of bliss. 9 Abiding indefinitely therein. Allah’s promise is true. And he is the mighty, the wise. 10 He created the skies without columns that you see and threw into the Earth stabilisers lest it shake with you. And he dispersed thereon of every beast. And we sent down water from the sky. Then we caused to grow thereon of every noble pair. 11 This is Allah’s creation so show me what those instead of him have created. Rather, the wrongdoers are in obvious error. 12 And we gave Luqman wisdom: Be grateful to Lah. And he who is grateful, he is only grateful for himself. And he who was ungrateful, Allah is rich, praiseworthy. 13 And when Luqman said to his son while he was exhorting him: My son, do not associate with Allah. Shirk is a great wrong. 14 And we advised man for his parents. His mother carried him in weakness upon weakness and his weaning is in two years: Be grateful to me and to your parents. To me is the destiny. 15 And if they have waged jihad on you to make you associate with me what you have no knowledge of, then do not obey them. And accompany them in the dunya decently and follow a way of him who has turned to me. Then to me is your return then I shall inform you of what you used to do. 16 My son, it, if it be the weight of a grain of mustard and it be in a rock or in the skies or on the Earth, Allah brings it. Allah is nice, an expert. 17 My son, perform salat and command kindness and forbid baseness and be patient over what has hit you. That is of the determination of affairs. 18 And do not turn your cheek to people and do not walk in the land gleefully. Allah does not love every self-conceited, proud man. 19 And be just in your walk and lower your voice. The most hideous of voices is the voice of donkeys. 20 Have you not seen that Allah subjected to you what is in the skies and what is on the Earth and bestowed upon you his graces, visible and invisible? And of people is he who argues about Allah without knowledge or guidance or a bright book. 21 And when it was said to them: Follow what Allah has sent down, they said: Rather, we follow what we found our fathers on. Even if the Devil was calling them to the torture of the blaze? 22 And he who surrenders his face to Allah while a good-doer has clung to the firmest noose. And to Allah is the result of affairs. 23 And he who has disbelieved, let his kufr not grieve you. To us is their return then we shall inform them of what they did. Allah is learned in that of the chests. 24 We amuse them a little then we force them to a thick torture. 25 And if you ask them: Who created the skies and the Earth? They will say: Allah. Say: Praise be to Lah. But most of them do not know. 26 Lah’s is what is in the skies and the Earth. Allah is the rich, the praiseworthy. 27 And were what is on the Earth of a tree pens and the sea spreading it after it seven seas, Allah’s words would not be exhausted. Allah is mighty, wise. 28 Your creation and your resurrection are nothing but as one soul. Allah is a hearer, a seer. 29 Have you not seen that Allah inserts the night into the day and inserts the day into the night and subjected the sun and the moon, all running for a designated term and that Allah is an expert in what you do? 30 That is because Allah is the truth and that what they invoke instead of him is falsehood and that Allah is the high, the big. 31 Have you not seen that the ships run in the sea by Allah’s grace that he may show you of his signs? In that there are signs for every patient, grateful man. 32 And when a wave like shadows covered them they invoked Allah being sincere towards him in religion. But when he saved them to the land, among them one frugal. And none renounces our verses but every treacherous, ungrateful man. 33 People, fear your lord and fear a day a father does not recompense for his child nor one begotten, he recompenses for his father at all. Allah’s promise is true so do not let the dunya life delude you nor let the deluder delude you about Allah. 34 Allah, with him is the knowledge of the Hour and he sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. And a soul does not know what it earns tomorrow nor does a soul know in what land it dies. Allah is learned, an expert.
