1 Ha mim. 2 By the clear book. 3 We have made it an Arabic quran; perhaps you will comprehend. 4 It is in the mother of the book with us, high, wise. 5 So should we strike from you the Dhikr, as remission, because you were an extravagant people? 6 And how many a prophet did we send among the first ones? 7 And no prophet comes to them but they would mock him. 8 And we destroyed stronger than they in violence and the similitude of the first ones has passed. 9 And if you asked them: Who created the skies and the Earth? They would say: The mighty, the learned created them. 10 The one who made for you the Earth a bed and made for you therein ways; perhaps you will be guided. 11 And the one who has sent down water from the sky by quantity then have we reanimated therewith a dead country. Thus are you brought out. 12 And the one who created all the pairs and made for you some of the ships and the cattle, what you ride 13 To sit firmly on their backs then you remember your lord’s grace when you have sat firmly on them and say: Praise be to the one who has subjected this to us and we were not capable of it. 14 And we are tipped over to our lord. 15 And they made for him a part from his slaves. Man is clearly ungrateful. 16 Or has he taken daughters from what he creates and chosen sons for you? 17 And when one of them has been given good news of what he has coined a similitude to Al-Rahman his face has remained darkening and he is furious. 18 Then is he who is brought up in bijou and he is unclear in argument? 19 And they have made the angels, those who are Al-Rahman’s slaves, females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be written and they asked. 20 And they have said: Had Al-Rahman willed we would not have worshipped them. They have no knowledge of that. They do nothing but conjecture. 21 Or did we give them a book before it and they are adhering to it? 22 Rather, they have said: We found our fathers on a nation and we are guided on their tracks. 23 And thus did we not send before you into a village any nadhir but its affluent men said: We found our fathers on a nation and we are following on their tracks. 24 He said: Even if I brought you better guidance than what your fathers found thereon? They said: We are kafirun in what you have been sent with. 25 So we took revenge on them. So look how the result of the lie-claimers was! 26 And when Ibrahim said to his father and his people: I am free of what you worship 27 Except the one who split me and he will guide me. 28 And he made it a remaining word among his posterity. Perhaps they will return. 29 Rather, I amused them and their fathers until the truth and an obvious messenger came to them. 30 And when the truth came to them they said: This is magic and we are kafirun in it. 31 And they said: Why was this quran not sent down upon a great man from the two villages? 32 Do they distribute your lord’s mercy? We distribute their livelihood among them in the dunya life and raise some of them above others in degrees that they may take one another in corvee. And your lord’s mercy is better than what they gather. 33 And were it not that people would be one nation we would have made for those who disbelieve in Al-Rahman for their houses rooves of silver and stairs upon which to ascend 34 And for their houses doors and beds upon which to recline 35 And an ornament. And all that is nothing but the enjoyment of the dunya life. And the hereafter with your lord is for the fearers. 36 And he who turns away from Al-Rahman’s dhikr, we send him a devil and he is a qarin to him. 37 And they block them from the way and think that they are guided. 38 Until when he has come to us he has said: Would that there were the distance of the two rising places between me and you! And miserable was the qarin. 39 And the day will not benefit you when you have wronged that you are taking part in the torture. 40 So do you cause the deaf to hear or guide the blind and him who was in clear error? 41 And whether we take you away we are avengers on them. 42 Or we show you that which we have promised them, we are powerful over them. 43 So grab that which you have been inspired with. You are on a straight path. 44 And it is a dhikr for you and for your people and you will be asked. 45 And ask him we sent before you of our messengers, did we make instead of Al-Rahman gods to be worshipped? 46 And we sent Musa with our signs to Fir’awn and his chiefs and he said: I am a messenger of the lord of the ‘alamin. 47 But when he came to them with our signs, behold, they laugh at them. 48 And we do not show them any sign but it is bigger than its sister and we took them with the torture; perhaps they will return. 49 And they said: Magician, invoke your lord for us by what he has covenanted with you. We are guided. 50 But when we removed the torture from them, behold, they renege. 51 And Fir’awn called among his people. He said: People, is the dominion of Egypt not mine and these rivers running beneath me? So do you not see? 52 Or am I better than this who is base and almost does not explain? 53 So why have bracelets of gold not been thrown upon him or the angels come with him joined? 54 So he persuaded his people and they obeyed him. They were fasiq people. 55 So when they angered us we took revenge on them and drowned them all. 56 And we made them antecessors and a similitude for the others. 57 And when the son of Maryam was presented as a similitude, behold, your people turn from it. 58 And they said: Are our gods better or is he? They did not present it to you but as an argument. Rather, they are a disputatious people. 59 He is nothing but a slave whom we graced and we made him a similitude for the Banu Isra’il. 60 And were we willing we would have put angels among you succeeding in the land. 61 And he is knowledge of the Hour. So do not doubt about it and follow me. This is a straight path. 62 And do not let the Devil block you. He is an obvious enemy to you. 63 And when Isa came with the proofs he said: I have come to you with wisdom and to make clear for you some of that which you differ in. So fear Allah and obey me. 64 Allah, he is my lord and your lord so worship him. This is a straight path. 65 But the parties from among them differed so woe to those who have wronged on account of torture of a painful day. 66 Are they looking but for the Hour that it should come to them suddenly while they do not perceive? 67 Friends on that day are an enemy to one another except the fearers. 68 Slaves, there is no fear upon you today nor do you grieve. 69 Those who believed in our verses and were Muslims. 70 Enter the Jannah, you and your husbands, gladdened. 71 Dishes of gold and cups circulate for them. And therein is what the souls desire and delights the eyes and you abide therein indefinitely. 72 And that is the Jannah which you were made to inherit for what you used to do. 73 For you therein is much fruit; of it you eat. 74 The criminals are in a torture of Jahannam, abiding indefinitely. 75 It is not eased from them while they despair therein. 76 And we did not wrong them but they were the wrongdoers. 77 And they called: Malik, let your lord kill us. He said: You are staying. 78 We have come to you with the truth but most of you hate the truth. 79 Or have they attested to a matter? Then we are attesting. 80 Or do they think that we do not hear their secret and their confidential talk? Yes, and our messengers are with them writing. 81 Say: If Al-Rahman had a child I would be the first of the worshippers. 82 Praise be to the lord of the skies and the Earth, the lord of the throne, from what they ascribe! 83 So leave them to wade and play until they meet their day which they are promised. 84 And he is the one who is god in the sky and god in the Earth. And he is the wise, the learned. 85 And blessed be the one whose is the dominion of the skies and the Earth and what is between them and has the knowledge of the Hour and to him are you returned. 86 And those they invoke instead of him do not possess intercession except him who has borne witness in truth and they know. 87 And if you asked them who created them they would say: Allah. So how are they deluded? 88 And his saying: Lord, these are a people who do not believe. 89 So excuse them and say: Peace. And they will know.
