1 Ha mim. 2 The tanzil of the book from Allah the mighty, the wise. 3 In the skies and the Earth are signs for the believers. 4 And in your creation and what he spreads of beast are signs for people who are certain. 5 And the difference of night and day and what Allah has sent down from the sky from provision and has vivified therewith the Earth after its death and the exchange of the winds are signs for people who comprehend. 6 Those are Allah’s verses. We read them to you in truth. So in what hadith after Allah and his verses do they believe? 7 Woe to every immoral imposter 8 Who hears Allah’s verses read to him then persists arrogantly as though he had not heard them. So give him good news of painful torture. 9 And when he has known anything from our verses has taken them as a quip. Those--theirs is base torture. 10 Behind them is Jahannam and what they have earned does not avail them at all nor what they have taken instead of Allah as protectors. And theirs is great torture. 11 This is guidance. And those who have disbelieved in their lord’s verses have torture from painful rijz. 12 Allah is the one who subjected to you the sea that the ships might run therein by his command and that you might seek of his favour and perhaps you will be grateful. 13 And he subjected to you what is in the skies and what is on the Earth, all from him. In that are signs for people who ponder. 14 Tell those who have believed to forgive those who do not hope for the days of Allah that he may recompense a people for what they used to earn. 15 He who has done a righteous deed, it is for his soul, and he who has done evil, it is against it. Then to your lord you are returned. 16 And we gave the Banu Isra’il the Book and the power and the prophethood and we provided them from the good things and we preferred them to the ‘alamin. 17 And we gave them proofs from the command and they did not differ except after what the knowledge had come to them out of oppression between them. Your lord decides between them on the day of resurrection concerning what they used to differ about. 18 Then we put you on a law from the command so follow it and do not follow the desires of those who do not know. 19 They will not avail you against Allah at all. And the wrongdoers are protectors of one another and Allah is protector of the fearers. 20 These are insights for people and guidance and mercy for people who are certain. 21 Or have those who have perpetrated the evil deeds thought that we would make them like those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds equal in their life and in their death? Evil was what they judge. 22 And Allah created the skies and the Earth in truth and that every soul might be recompensed for what it had earned and they are not wronged. 23 So have you seen him who has taken his desire as his god and whom Allah has misguided knowingly and has sealed his hearing and his heart and has put a veil over his eyesight? Then who guides him after Allah? So do you not remember? 24 And they have said: It is nothing but our dunya life. We die and we live and nothing destroys us but time. And they have no knowledge of that. They do nothing but suppose. 25 And when our clear verses are read to them their argument was nothing but that they have said: Bring our fathers if you are truthful. 26 Say: Allah vivifies you then makes you die then gathers you to the day of resurrection; there is no doubt about it. But most people do not know. 27 And Lah’s is the dominion of the skies and the Earth and on a day the Hour comes, that day the nullifiers lose. 28 And you see every nation perching. Every nation is called to its book. Today you are recompensed for what you used to do. 29 This book of ours speaks about you in truth. We used to reproduce what you did. 30 So as for those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds, their lord admits them into his mercy. That is the clear win. 31 And as for those who have disbelieved, so were my verses not read to you? But you were arrogant and were criminal people. 32 And when it was said: Allah’s promise is true and the Hour--there is no doubt about it, you said: We do not know what the Hour is. We think nothing but assumption and we are not sure. 33 And evil deeds of what they did appeared to them and what they used to mock surrounded them. 34 And it was said: Today we forget you as you forgot the meeting of this day of yours and your shelter is the fire and you have no helpers. 35 That is because you took Allah’s verses as a quip and the dunya life deluded you. So today they are not taken out of it nor are they asked for favour. 36 So Lah’s is the praise, the lord of the skies and the lord of the Earth, the lord of the ‘alamin. 37 And his is the pride in the skies and the Earth and he is the mighty, the wise.
