1 Those who have believed, fulfill the agreements. The beast of cattle has been made lawful for you except what is read to you, not being permitted to hunt when you are in Ihram. Allah judges what he wants. 2 Those who have believed, do not permit Allah’s rites nor the sacred month nor the hadi nor the garlanded animals nor those coming to the Sacred House, seeking favour from their lord and pleasure. And when you have come out of Ihram then hunt. And let hatred for a people as they repelled you from the Sacred Mosque not incite you to transgress. And help one another in righteousness but do not help one another in sin and oppression. And fear Allah. Allah is severe in punishment. 3 Forbidden to you have been dead animals and blood and pork and what has been permitted to other than Allah and the strangled and the fatally struck and that which has had a fatal fall and the gored and what the wild animal has eaten except what you have slaughtered and what has been sacrificed on the nusub and that you seek division by divining arrows. That is fisq. Today those who have disbelieved have despaired of your religion so do not fear them but fear me. Today I have completed your religion for you and perfected my grace upon you and have approved Islam for you as a religion. So he who has been forced by starvation not inclining to sin, Allah is a forgiver, merciful. 4 They ask you what has been permitted for them. Say: Permitted for you have been the good things and what you have taught of your hunting animals, trained; you teach them of what Allah has taught you. So eat of what they have caught for you. And mention Allah’s name over it and fear Allah. Allah is quick in account. 5 Today have the good things been permitted for you and the food of those who were given the Book is permitted for you and your food is permitted for them. And the muhsanat of the believers and the muhsanat of those who were given the Book before you when you have given them their wages, fortified, not musafihun or takers of paramours. And he who disbelieves the faith, his work has failed and he in the hereafter is of the losers. 6 Those who have believed, when you stand for salat wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows and wipe your heads and your feet up to the ankles. But if you are junub, purify yourselves. But if you are ill or on a journey or one of you has come from crapping or has touched women but has not found water, then do tayammum with good plateau then wipe your faces and your hands with it. Allah does not want to make any difficulty for you but wants to purify you and to perfect his grace upon you. Perhaps you will thank. 7 And remember Allah’s grace upon you and his covenant which he contracted you with when you said: We have heard and obeyed. And fear Allah. Allah is learned in that in the chests. 8 Those who have believed, be supporters for Lah, witnesses in equity and do not let hatred of a people prevent you from acting justly. Act justly; it is closer to taqwa. And fear Allah. Allah is an expert in what you do. 9 Allah has promised those who have believed and have done good deeds--theirs is forgiveness and a great wage. 10 And those who have disbelieved and have called our verses a lie--those are the companions of jahim. 11 Those who have believed, remember Allah’s grace upon you when a people determined to stretch their hands out towards you but he turned their hands aside from you. And fear Allah. And in Allah let the believers put their trust. 12 And Allah took a covenant of the Banu Isra’il and we raised among them 12 captains. And Allah said: I am with you if you establish salat and give the zakat and believe in my messengers and honour them and give Allah a good loan. I will atone for your evil deeds and admit you to jannat, rivers running beneath them. But he who has disbelieved after that among you, he has strayed from the evenness of the way. 13 So because of their criticism of their covenant we cursed them and made their hearts hard. They distort the words from their places and forgot a share of what they had been reminded of. And you still discover a traitress among them except a few of them. But pardon them and reform. Allah loves the good-doers. 14 And from those who said: We are Nasara, we took their covenant but they forgot a share of what they had been reminded of. So we aroused enmity and hatred among them until the day of resurrection. And Allah will inform them of what they used to do. 15 People of the Book, our messenger has come to you making clear to you much of what you used to conceal of the Book and pardoning much. A light and a clear book have come to you from Allah. 16 Allah guides therewith those who have followed his pleasure to the ways of peace and brings them out of the darknesses into the light with his permission and guides them to a straight path. 17 Disbelieved have those who have said: Allah, he is the Messiah the son of Maryam. Say: Then who dominates against Allah in a thing if he wants to destroy the Messiah the son of Maryam and his mother and all those on the Earth? And Lah’s is the dominion of the skies and the Earth and what is between them. He creates what he wills and Allah is mighty over everything. 18 And the Jews and the Nasara said: We are the sons of Allah and his beloved. Say: So why does he torture you for your sins? Rather, you are human among those he created. He forgives whom he wills and tortures whom he wills. And Lah’s is the dominion of the skies and the Earth and what is between them and to him is the destiny. 19 People of the Book, our messenger has come to you, making clear for you concerning the interval of the messengers lest you say: No bringer of good news or nadhir has come to us. A bringer of good news and a nadhir has come to you. And Allah is mighty over everything. 20 And when Musa said to his people: People, remember Allah’s grace upon you when he made prophets among you and made you kings and gave you what he had not given to anyone of the ‘alamin. 21 People, enter the Holy Land which Allah has written for you and do not turn on your backsides. Then you turn as losers. 22 They said: Musa, therein is a tyrant people and we will not enter it until they leave it, and if they leave it we shall enter. 23 Two men of those who fear, whom Allah had graced, said: Enter upon them by the gate and when you enter it you will be victors. So put your trust in Allah if you are believers. 24 They said: Musa, we shall never enter it as long as they are in it. So go, you and your lord and fight. We are sitting here. 25 He said: Lord, I do not have power except over myself and my brother, so separate between us and the fasiq people. 26 He said: Then is it forbidden to them for 40 years; they wander on the Earth. So do not despair over the fasiq people. 27 And read to them the news of the two sons of Adam in truth, when they offered a qurban and it was accepted from one of them but was not accepted from the other. He said: I will kill you. He said: Allah only accepts from the fearers. 28 If you stretch your hand towards me to kill me I do not stretch my hand towards you to kill you. I fear Allah, the lord of the ‘alamin. 29 I want you to return with my sin and your sin and you to be of the companions of the fire, and that is the recompense of the wrongdoers. 30 So his soul enticed him to kill his brother. So he killed him and he became of the losers. 31 And Allah raised a crow, searching in the earth, to show him how to hide the abomination of his brother. He said: Woe is me! Was I incapable of being like this crow and hide the abomination of my brother? So he became of the regretful. 32 From that term we wrote upon the Banu Isra’il that he who killed a soul for other than a soul or corruption in the land, it is as though he had killed all people and he who saved it, it is as though he had saved all people. And our messengers came to them with the proofs then many of them after that exceed in the land. 33 The recompense of those who war against Allah and his messenger and chase corruption in the land is only that they be massacred or crucified or have their hands and their feet cut off on opposite sides or be exiled from the land. That for them is disgrace in the dunya and theirs in the hereafter is great torture. 34 Except those who have repented before you have power over them, then know that Allah is a forgiver, merciful. 35 Those who have believed, fear Allah and seek the means to him and wage jihad in his way. Perhaps you will succeed. 36 Those who have disbelieved, had they what is in all the Earth and the like of it with it to ransom therewith from the torture of the day of resurrection, it would not be accepted from them and theirs is painful torture. 37 They want to come out of the fire and they are not going to come out of it. And theirs is lasting torture. 38 And the male thief and the female thief--cut off their hands as repayment for what they have earned as an exemplary punishment from Allah. And Allah is mighty, wise. 39 But he who repents after his injustice and reforms--Allah repents for him. Allah is a forgiver, merciful. 40 Did you not know that Allah--his is the dominion of the skies and the Earth? He tortures whom he wills and forgives whom he wills. And Allah is mighty over everything. 41 Messenger, let those who hasten in kufr not grieve you, of those who have said: We have believed with their mouths and their hearts have not believed and of those who were Jewish. Hearers of the lie, hearers of other people who have not come to you. They distort the words after their places saying: If you were given this, take it and if you were not given it, watch out. And for whom Allah wants his fitnah you will not be the master for him against Allah at all. Those are the ones whose hearts Allah has not wanted to purify. Theirs in the dunya is disgrace and theirs in the hereafter is great torture. 42 Hearers of the lie, gluttons for illegal possession. So if they come to you, judge among them or turn away from them. And if you turn away from them, they will not harm you at all. And if you judge, judge among them with equity. Allah loves the equitable. 43 And how do they make you a judge when they have the Torah wherein is Allah’s judgment? Then they turn away after that and those are not believers. 44 We sent down the Torah; therein is guidance and light. The prophets, those who have surrendered for those who were Jewish, judge by it, and the rabbaniyun and the rabbis what they were entrusted with of Allah’s Book and they were witnesses over it. So do not fear people but fear me. And do not buy my verses at a low price. And those who have not judged by what Allah has sent down--those are the kafirun. 45 And we wrote for them therein: The soul for the soul and the eye for the eye and the nose for the nose and the ear for the ear and the tooth for the tooth and the wounds for the wounds as retaliation. But he who has given charity therewith then it is atonement for it. And those who have not judged by what Allah has sent down then those are the wrongdoers. 46 And we sent on their tracks Isa son of Maryam, confirming what is in front of him of the Torah, and we gave him the Injil. Therein is guidance and light and confirming what is in front of him of the Torah and guidance and exhortation for the fearers. 47 And let the People of the Injil judge by what Allah has sent down therein. And those who have not judged by what Allah has sent down then those are the fasiqun. 48 And we have sent down to you the book in truth, confirming what is in front of him of the Book and governing over it. So judge between them by what Allah has sent down and do not follow their desires when some of the truth has come to you. For all of you have we made a bill and a curriculum. And had Allah willed he would have made you one nation but to test you in what he has given you. So race to goods. To Allah is all your return then he informs you of what you used to differ in. 49 And judge among them by what Allah has sent down and do not follow their desires and watch out for them lest they tempt you from some of what Allah has sent down to you. And if they turn away, know that Allah only wants to afflict them for some of their sins. And many of the people are fasiqun. 50 So is it the judgment of the Jahiliyyah they seek? And who is better than Allah in judgment for people who are certain? 51 Those who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Nasara as protectors. Some of them are protectors of others. And he who takes them as protectors among you, he is of them. Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. 52 And you see those in whose hearts is a disease hastening among them saying: We fear that a calamity may strike us. But perhaps Allah brings victory or a matter from him. Then they become regretful of what they had kept secret within themselves. 53 And those who have believed say: Are these those who swore the strongest of their oaths that they are with you? Their deeds have become worthless and they have become losers. 54 Those who have believed, he who turns away among you from his religion, Allah will bring a people he loves and who love him, humble towards the believers, stern towards the kafirun, waging jihad in the way of Allah and not fearing criticism of a critic. That is Allah’s favour. He gives it to whom he wills. And Allah is wide, learned. 55 Your protector is only Allah and his messenger and those who have believed, those who perform salat and give the zakat and they are bowers. 56 And he who takes Allah and his messenger and those who have believed as a protector, Allah’s party, they are the victorious. 57 Those who have believed, do not take those who have taken your religion as a quip and a game from those who were given the Book before you and the kuffar as protectors. And fear Allah if you are believers. 58 And when you have called to salat they have taken it as a quip and a game. That is because they are a people who do not comprehend. 59 Say: People of the Book, do you venge us except that we have believed in Allah and what has been sent down to us and what was sent down before and that most of you are fasiqun? 60 Say: Shall I inform you of worse than that as a reward from Allah? Those whom Allah cursed and got angry with and made of them monkeys and pigs and worshipped the taghut. Those are worse in position and more astray from the evenness of the way. 61 And when they have come to you they have said: We have believed. But they have entered with kufr and they have gone out with it. And Allah is a knower of what they used to conceal. 62 And you see many of them hastening into sin and oppressing and their consuming illegal possession. Miserable was what they were doing. 63 Why do the rabaniyyun and the rabbis not forbid them their sinful speech and their consuming illegal possession? Miserable was what they were doing. 64 And the Jews have said: Allah’s hand is manacled. Their hands have been manacled and they have been cursed for what they have said. Rather, his hands are outstretched. He spends how he wills. And he shall increase many of them, what has been sent down to you from your lord, in despotism and kufr. And we have thrown enmity and hatred among them to the day of resurrection. Every time they have kindled a fire for war Allah has put it out. And they chase corruption in the land. And Allah does not love the corrupters. 65 And had the People of the Book believed and feared we would have atoned for their evil deeds and admitted them to the jannat of bliss. 66 And had they established the Torah and the Injil and what has been sent down to them from their lord, they would have eaten above them and below their feet. Among them is a frugal nation and many of them--evil is what they do. 67 Messenger, send what has been sent down to you from your lord and if you have not done so then you have not sent his message. And Allah protects you from people. Allah does not guide the kafirun people. 68 Say: People of the Book, you are on nothing until you establish the Torah and the Injil and what has been sent down to you from your lord. And increases many of them, what has been sent down to you from your lord, in tyranny and kufr. So do not grieve over the kafirun people. 69 Those who have believed and those who were Jewish and the Sabians and the Nasara, he who has believed in Allah and the last day and has done a righteous deed, there is no fear upon them and they do not grieve. 70 We took a covenant of the Banu Isra’il and sent them messengers. Whenever a messenger came to them with what their souls do not desire, a party they denied and a party they kill. 71 And they thought that there would be no fitnah so they went blind and deaf. Then Allah repented for them then they went blind and deaf, many of them. And Allah is a seer of what they do. 72 Those who have said: Allah, he is the Messiah the son of Maryam, have disbelieved. And the Messiah said: Banu Isra’il, worship Allah, my lord and your lord. He who associates with Allah, Allah has forbidden him the Jannah and his shelter is the fire. And the wrongdoers have no helpers. 73 Those who have said: Allah is the third of three have disbelieved. And there is no god but one god and if they have not desisted from saying it, painful torture will touch those who have disbelieved among them. 74 So do they not repent to Allah and ask him for forgiveness? And Allah is a forgiver, merciful. 75 The Messiah the son of Maryam is nothing but a messenger. The messengers passed away before him and his mother is truthful. The two of them used to eat food. See how we make the signs clear to them. Then see how deluded they are! 76 Say: Do you worship instead of Allah what has no power for harm or benefit for you? And Allah is the hearer, the learned. 77 Say: People of the Book, do not exceed in your religion other than the truth and do not follow the desires of a people who strayed before, and they misled many and they strayed from the evenness of the way. 78 Those who disbelieved of the Banu Isra'il were cursed by the tongue of Dawud and Isa son of Maryam. That was because they disobeyed and used to transgress. 79 They were not forbidding one another baseness that they did. Miserable was what they were doing. 80 You see many of them taking those who have disbelieved as protectors. Miserable was what their souls offered for them that Allah was angry with them and in the torture they abide indefinitely. 81 And were they believing in Allah and the prophet and what was sent down to him they would not have taken them as protectors but many of them are fasiqun. 82 You will find the strongest of people in enmity to those who have believed the Jews and those who have associated; and you will find the nearest of them in affection to those who have believed those who have said: We are Nasara. That is because among them are priests and monks and that they are not arrogant. 83 And when they have heard what has been sent down to the messenger you see their eyes overflowing with tears from what they have recognised of the truth. They say: Our lord, we have believed so write us with the witnesses. 84 And what do we have not believing in Allah and what has come to us of the truth? And we desire that our lord admits us with the righteous people. 85 So Allah has remunerated them for what they have said with jannat, rivers running beneath them, abiding indefinitely therein. And that is the recompense of the good-doers. 86 And those who have disbelieved and called our verses a lie, those are the companions of Jahim. 87 Those who have believed, do not forbid good things what Allah has permitted you and do not transgress. Allah does not love the transgressors. 88 And eat of what Allah has provided you, halal, good. And fear Allah, the one whom you are believers in. 89 Allah does not censure you for nonsense in your oaths but censures you for what you have contracted of the oaths. So its expiation is the feeding of ten needy people of an average of what you feed your family or their clothing or freeing a neck. But he who has not found then fasting for three days. That is an expiation for your oaths when you have sworn. And guard your oaths. Thus Allah clarifies his verses for you; perhaps you will thank. 90 Those who have believed, wine and maysir and ansab and divining arrows are only rijs from the Devil’s work, so avoid it; perhaps you will succeed. 91 The Devil only wants to cause enmity and hatred to fall between you in wine and maysir and block you from Allah’s dhikr and from salat. So are you abstainers? 92 And obey Allah and obey the messenger and watch out. And if you turn away then know the clear notice only is upon our messenger. 93 A misdemeanour is not upon those who have believed and have done the righteous deeds for what they ate when what they have feared and believed and done the righteous deeds then feared and believed then feared and done good, and Allah loves the good-doers. 94 Those who have believed, Allah tests you in something of hunting that your hands and your spears get that Allah may know him who fears him in the ghayb. And he who has transgressed after that has painful torture. 95 Those who have believed, do not kill game while you are hurum. And he who has killed it among you intentionally, a penalty the like of what he has killed of cattle, two just men among you judging it as a hadi reaching the Ka’bah or an expiation--feeding needy people or an equivalent of that in fasting that he may taste an evil consequence of his deed. Allah has pardoned what has passed and he who has returned, Allah takes vengeance on him. And Allah is mighty, a possessor of vengeance. 96 Game of the sea and its food has been permitted for you as enjoyment for you and for the caravan and forbidden for you game of the land as long as you are hurum. And fear Allah, the one whom you are being gathered to. 97 Allah has made the Ka’bah, the Sacred House, an establishment for people, and the sacred month and the hadi and the garlands. That is that you may know that Allah knows what is in the skies and what is on the Earth and that Allah is learned in everything. 98 Know that Allah is the severe in punishment and that Allah is a forgiver, merciful. 99 Nothing is upon the messenger but the notice. And Allah knows what you reveal and what you conceal. 100 Say: Not equal are the malignant and the good even if the abundance of the malignant thing has pleased you. So fear Allah, possessors of albab; perhaps you will succeed. 101 Those who have believed, do not ask about things if they become clear to you might displease you and if you ask about it when the Quran is being sent down it would become clear to you. Allah has pardoned it. Allah is a forgiver, clement. 102 A people before you asked about them then became kafirun thereby. 103 Allah did not make any Bahirah or Saibah or Wasilah or Hami but those who disbelieved fabricate the lie against Allah, and most of them do not comprehend. 104 And when it was said to them: Come to what Allah has sent down and to the messenger, they said: Our sufficiency is what we found our fathers on. Even though their fathers were not knowing anything or guided. 105 Those who have believed, upon you yourselves. He who has strayed does not harm you when you have been guided. To Allah is the return of you all. Then he informs you of what you used to do. 106 Those who have believed, testimony among you when death has attended one of you, at the time of the will two just men among you or two others other than you if you are travelling in the land and the calamity of death strikes you. Apprehend the two after salat then they will swear by Allah if you doubt. We shall not buy it at a price even if he was a close relative nor conceal Allah’s testimony. We would then be of those who make a mistake. 107 Then if it has been discovered that the two have merited iniquity then two others will stand in their place of those who have merited over them, the first two, and they will swear by Allah. Our testimony is truer than their testimony and we have not transgressed. We would then be of the wrongdoers. 108 That is nearer that they bring the testimony on its face or they fear that oaths would be rejected after their oaths. And fear Allah and hear. And Allah does not guide the fasiq people. 109 On a day Allah gathers the messengers and says: What did you answer? They said: We have no knowledge. You, you are the knower of the ghuyub. 110 When Allah said: Isa son of Maryam, remember my grace upon you and upon your mother when I supported you with the Holy Spirit when you speak to the people in the cradle and in middle age. And when I taught you the book and the wisdom and the Torah and the Injil. And when you create from the clay as the form of the bird with my permission and blow into it and it is a bird with my permission and you heal the blind man and the leper with my permission and when you bring out the dead with my permission. And when I restrained the Banu Isra’il from you when you brought them proofs and those who disbelieved of them said: This is nothing but obvious magic. 111 And when I inspired the Hawariyun to believe in me and in my messenger they said: We have believed and bear witness that we are Muslims. 112 When the Hawariyun said: Isa son of Maryam, is your lord able to send down to us a table from the sky? He said: Fear Allah if you are believers. 113 They said: We want to eat from it and for our hearts to be satisfied and know that you have told us the truth and for us to be over it of the witnesses. 114 Isa son of Maryam said: Allahumma our lord, send down upon us a table from the sky being for us a festival for the first of us and the last of us and a sign from you. And provide us, and you are the best of providers. 115 Allah said: I am sending it down upon you so he who disbelieves after among you I torture him whom I do not torture anyone of the ‘alimin. 116 And when Allah said: Isa son of Maryam, did you say to people, Take me and my mother as two gods instead of Allah? He said: Praise be to you! It is not for me to say what I have no right to. If I had said it, you would have known. You know what is in my soul but I do not know what is in your soul. You are the knower of the ghuyub. 117 I did not tell them except what you commanded me: Worship Allah, my lord and your lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them and when you caused me to die you were the watchman over them and you are a witness over everything. 118 If you torture them they are your slaves and if you forgive them you are the mighty, the wise. 119 Allah said: This is a day their truthfulness benefits the truthful. Theirs are jannat, rivers running beneath them, abiding therein forever. Allah was pleased with them and they were pleased with him. That is the great win. 120 Lah’s is the dominion of the skies and the Earth and what is in them. And he is mighty over everything.
