1 What is in the skies and what is on the Earth has praised Lah. And he is the mighty, the wise. 2 He is the one who expelled those who had disbelieved of the People of the Book from their homes at the first banishment. You did not think that they would come out and they thought that their fortresses would defend them against Allah. But Allah came to them from where they did not take into consideration and he cast terror into their hearts, they destroyed their houses with their hands and the hands of the believers. So learn a lesson, possessors of eyesight. 3 And had Allah not written evacuation upon them he would have tortured them in the dunya and theirs in the hereafter is the torture of the fire. 4 That is because they opposed Allah and his messenger. And he who opposes Allah, Allah is the severe in punishment. 5 What you cut down of a linah or left them standing on their roots, by Allah’s permission and that he might disgrace the fasiqun. 6 And what Allah gave as booty to his messenger from them you did not agitate for it of horses or a mount but Allah gives power to his messengers over whom he wills. And Allah is mighty over everything. 7 What Allah has given as booty to his messenger from the people of the villages is for Lah and for his messenger and for the relative and the orphans and the poor and the traveller that it not be a circuit among the rich among you. And what the messenger has given you, take it and what he has forbidden you, desist. And fear Allah. Allah is the severe in punishment. 8 For the poor of the emigrants who have been expelled from their homes and their monies seeking favour from Allah and pleasure and helping Allah and his messenger. Those are the truthful. 9 And those who have taken over the home and faith from before them love him who has emigrated to them and they do not find in their chests need from what they were given and prefer to themselves even if straitness were with them. And he who is guarded against the stinginess of his soul, those are the successful. 10 And those who came after them saying: Our lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and do not put rancour in our hearts towards those who have believed. Our lord, you are kind, merciful. 11 Have you not seen those who have played the hypocrite saying to their brothers, those who have disbelieved of the People of the Book: If you are expelled we will go out with you and will never obey anyone concerning you and if you are fought we will help you? And Allah bears witness that they are liars. 12 If they are expelled they will not go out with them and if they are fought they will not help them. And if they help them they will turn their backsides. Then they will not be helped. 13 You are more severe in dread in their chests than Allah. That is because they are a people who do not comprehend. 14 They do not fight you altogether except in fortified villages or from behind walls. Their horribleness among them is severe. You would think them whole and their hearts are differing. That is because they are a people who do not comprehend. 15 Like the example of those before them, near. They tasted the evil consequence of their affair and theirs is painful torture. 16 Like the example of the Devil, when he said to man: Disbelieve. But when he disbelieved he said: I am innocent of you. I fear Allah, lord of the ‘alamin. 17 So their result was that they are in the fire abiding therein indefinitely. And that is the recompense of the wrongdoers. 18 Those who have believed, fear Allah and let a soul look at what it has offered for tomorrow, and fear Allah. Allah is an expert in what you do. 19 And do not be like those who forgot Allah and he made them forget themselves. Those are the fasiqun. 20 Not equal are the companions of the fire and the companions of the Jannah. The companions of the Jannah are the victors. 21 Had we sent down this quran on a mountain you would have seen it devout, cracked from fear of Allah. And those similitudes we give to people; perhaps they will reflect. 22 He is Allah, the one who--. There is no god but him. The knower of the ghayb and the testimony. He is Al-Rahman, the merciful. 23 He is Allah, who is no god but him, the king, the holy one, the peace, the believer, the dominant, the mighty, the tyrant, the arrogant. Praise be to Allah from what they associate! 24 He is Allah, the creator, the bari’, the shaper. His are the finest names. What is in the skies and the Earth praises him. And he is the mighty, the wise.
