1 Praise be to Lah who created the skies and the Earth and made the darknesses and the light. Then those who disbelieved make equal to their lord. 2 He is the one who created you from clay then foreordained a term and a named term with him. Then you doubt. 3 And he is Allah in the skies and on the Earth. He knows your secret and your announcement and he knows what you earn. 4 And no sign of the signs of their lord comes to them but they were turning away from it. 5 So they called the truth a lie when it came to them and news of what they used to mock will come to them. 6 Have they not seen how many of a century we destroyed before them? We firmly established them on the Earth what we had not firmly established for you. And we sent the sky upon them, an outflowing. And we made the rivers, running beneath them. Then we destroyed them for their sins and we constructed a century, others, after them. 7 And had we sent down upon you a book in qirtas and they had touched it with their hands, those who have disbelieved would have said: This is nothing but obvious magic. 8 And they have said: Why has an angel not been sent down upon him? And had we sent down an angel the matter would have been decided then they would not see. 9 And had we made him an angel we would have made him a man and we would have intermingled them what they intermingle. 10 And messengers before you were mocked but what they would mock at surrounded those who ridiculed among them. 11 Say: Travel in the land then see how the result of those accusing of lying was. 12 Say: Whose is what is in the skies and the Earth? Say: Lah’s. He has written mercy upon himself. He gathers you to the day of resurrection. There is no doubt therein. Those who have lost themselves, so they do not believe. 13 And his is what has dwelt in the night and the day and he is the hearer, the learned. 14 Say: Is it other than Allah that I should take as a protector, the splitter of the skies and the Earth, and he feeds and is not fed? Say: I have been commanded to be the first of those who have surrendered and you are not to be of the mushrikun. 15 Say: I fear if I disobeyed my lord torture of a mighty day. 16 He who is turned away from it that day, he has had mercy on him. And that is the obvious win. 17 And if Allah touches you with harm then there is no discoverer for it but him. And if he touches you with good then he is mighty over everything. 18 And he is the despot above his slaves. And he is the wise, the expert. 19 Say: Which thing is bigger as a testimony? Say: Allah is a witness between me and you and I have been inspired with this Quran that I may warn you therewith and whom it has reached. Do you testify that with Allah there are other gods? Say: I do not testify. Say: He is only one god. And I am free from what you associate. 20 Those we have given the Book to recognise him as they recognise their sons. Those who have lost themselves, they do not believe. 21 And who is more unjust than he who has fabricated a lie against Allah or has called his verses a lie? The wrongdoers do not succeed. 22 And on a day we gather them all then we say to those who have associated: Where are your partners whom you used to summon? 23 Then their fitnah was not except that they said: By Allah our lord, we were not mushrikun. 24 Look how they lied against themselves. And what they used to fabricate strayed from them. 25 And among them are those who listen to you and we have put coverings on their hearts lest they comprehend it and in their ears is deafness. And if they see every verse they do not believe in it. Until when they have come to you arguing with you saying to those who have disbelieved: This is nothing but the tales of the first ones. 26 And they forbid from it and they keep away from it. And they destroy nothing but themselves and they do not perceive. 27 And were you to see when they were stood on the fire; they said: Would that we were brought back and we would not call our lord’s verses a lie and we would be of the believers. 28 Rather, what they used to conceal before has appeared for them. And had they been brought back they would have returned to what they had been forbidden and they are liars. 29 And they said: It is nothing but our dunya life and we are not going to be raised. 30 And were you to see when they were stood on their lord. He said: Is this not the truth? They said: Yes, by our lord. He said: So taste the torture because you used to disbelieve. 31 Lost have those who have denied the meeting of Allah, until when the Hour came to them suddenly they said: Our grief over what we had neglected therein! And they bear their burdens on their backs. Not at all! Evil was what they bear. 32 And the dunya life is nothing but a game and fun and the home of the hereafter is good for those who fear. So do you not comprehend? 33 Maybe we know that it grieves you, that which they say. And they do not call you a liar but the wrongdoers reject Allah’s verses. 34 And messengers were called liars before you but they were patient concerning what they were accused of lying and they were harmed until our help came to them. And none changes Allah’s words and some news of the commissaries has come to you. 35 And if their shunning was becoming too difficult for you then if you were able to seek a tunnel in the Earth or a ladder in the sky so that you might bring them a sign. And had Allah willed he would have gathered them on the guidance. So do not be of the ignorant. 36 Only those who hear respond. And the dead, Allah raises them then to him are they returned. 37 And they have said: Why has a sign from his lord not been sent down upon him? Say: Allah is capable of sending down a sign but most of them do not know. 38 And there is no beast on the Earth nor bird that flies with its two wings but are nations the likes of you. We have neglected nothing in the book. Then to their lord are they gathered. 39 And those who have called our verses a lie are deaf and dumb, in the darknesses. He whom Allah wills, he misguides him and he whom he wills, he puts him on a straight path. 40 Say: Have you seen if the torture of Allah came to you or the Hour came to you, is it other than Allah you would invoke, if you are truthful? 41 Rather, him you invoke and he would remove what you invoke to him if he willed and you forget what you associate. 42 And we sent to nations before you and we took them with combat and calamity; perhaps they would grow humble. 43 So why when our horribleness came to them were they not humble? But their hearts became hardened and the Devil adorned for them what they used to do. 44 So when they forgot what they had been reminded of we opened upon them the gates of everything until when they rejoiced in what they had been given, we took them suddenly and when they were despairing. 45 So cut off was the origin of the people, those who had done wrong. And praise be to Lah, lord of the ‘alamin. 46 Say: Have you seen if Allah took your hearing and your eyesight and sealed your hearts, who is a god other than Allah that would bring you it? Look how we explain the verses then they turn away. 47 Say: Have you seen if Allah’s torture came to you suddenly or publicly, would any but the wrongdoing people be destroyed? 48 And we do not send commissaries except as bearers of good news and warners. So those who have believed and reformed--there is no fear upon them nor do they grieve. 49 And those who have called our verses a lie the torture touches them for what they used to be fasiq about. 50 Say: I do not tell you I have Allah’s treasures or know the ghayb or tell you I am an angel. I do not follow but what I am inspired with. Say: Is the blind man equal to the seeing man? So do you not ponder? 51 And warn thereby those who fear that they are gathered to their lord they have no protector or intercessor instead of him; perhaps they will fear. 52 And do not dismiss those who invoke their lord in the early morning and the evening wanting his face. Their account of anything is not upon you and your account is not upon them of anything. So were you to dismiss them you would be of the wrongdoers. 53 And thus do we try some of them by others that they may say: Are these Allah has been benevolent to from among us? Is Allah not a knower of the grateful? 54 And when those who believe in our verses have come to you, say: Peace be upon you. Your lord has written mercy upon himself that he who has done evil among you in ignorance then has repented after it and has reformed, then that he is a forgiver, merciful. 55 And thus do we detail the verses and to make the way of the criminals clear. 56 Say: I have been forbidden to worship those whom you invoke instead of Allah. Say: I do not follow your desires. I would have strayed then and would not be of the guided. 57 Say: I am on a proof from my lord and you have called it a lie. I do not have what you seek to hasten of it. The judgment is not but for Lah. He relates the truth and he is the best of separators. 58 Say: Were what you seek to hasten of it with me the matter would have been decided between me and you. And Allah is a knower of the wrongdoers. 59 And he has the keys of the ghayb; none knows them but him. And he knows what is in the land and the sea. And no leaf falls but he knows it. And not a grain in the darknesses of the Earth nor wet nor dry but it is in a clear book. 60 And he is the one who causes you to die at night and he knows what you have offended in the day. Then he raises you therein that a designated term may be completed. Then to him is your return then he informs you of what you used to do. 61 And he is the despot over his slaves and he sends keepers over you until when death has come to one of you our messengers have caused him to die and they are not negligent. 62 Then they have been sent back to Allah their true mawla. Indeed, his is the judgment? And he is the quickest of the accountants. 63 Say: Who saves you from the darknesses of the land and the sea? You invoke him in obtestation and surreptitiously. If he has saved us from this we shall be of the grateful. 64 Say: Allah saves you from it and from every apprehension then you associate. 65 Say: He is capable of raising torture from above you or from beneath your feet upon you or intermingling you as partisans and making some of you taste horribleness of others. Look how we explain the verses; perhaps you will comprehend. 66 And your people have called it a lie while it is the truth. Say: I am not an agent over you. 67 For all news there is a scene and you will know. 68 And when you have seen those who wade into our verses, turn away from them until they wade into hadith other than it. And if the Devil causes you to forget, do not sit after the remembrance with the wrongoing people. 69 And it is not upon those who fear of their account of anything but a remembrance; perhaps they will fear. 70 And leave those who have taken their religion as a game and fun and the dunya life has beguiled them. And remind therewith lest a soul be handed over for destruction for what it has earned. It has instead of Allah no protector or intercessor. And if it should offer every ransom, it would not be taken from it. Those are those who have been handed over for destruction for what they have earned. Theirs is a drink of boiling water and painful torture because they used to disbelieve. 71 Say: Shall we invoke instead of Allah what neither benefits us nor harms us and we are brought back on our heels after when Allah has guided us? Like the one whom the Devil has enticed on the Earth, a confused man he has companions who call him to guidance: Come to us. Say: Allah’s guidance, it is the guidance and we have been commanded to surrender to the lord of the ‘alamin. 72 And to perform salat. And fear him. And he is the one to whom you are gathered. 73 And he is the one who created the skies and the Earth in truth. And on a day he says: Be and it is. His speech is the truth. And his is the dominion on a day it is blown on the trumpet. The knower of the ghayb and the testimony. And he is the wise, the expert. 74 And when Ibrahim said to his father: Azar! Do you take idols as gods? I see you and your people in obvious error. 75 And thus do we show Ibrahim the kingdom of the skies and the Earth that he may be of the certain. 76 So when the night covered over him he saw a planet. He said: This is my lord. But when it set he said: I do not like the setters. 77 And when he saw the moon rising he said: This is my lord. But when it set he said: If my lord has not guided me I shall be of the straying people. 78 And when he saw the sun rising he said: This is my lord. This is bigger. But when it set he said: People, I am innocent of what you associate. 79 I have turned my face to the one who ripped apart the skies and the Earth, a Hanif, and I am not of the mushrikun. 80 And his people argued with him. He said: Do you argue with me about Allah when he has guided me? And I do not fear what you associate with him except that my lord wills something. My lord has encompassed everything in knowledge. So do you not remember? 81 And how could I fear what you have associated while you do not fear that you have associated with Allah what he has not sent down authority for upon you? So which of the two parties has more right to security if you know? 82 Those who have believed and have not intermingled their faith with wrongdoing. Those, theirs is security and they are guided. 83 And that is our argument. We gave it to Ibrahim against his people. We raise by degrees whom we will. Your lord is wise, learned. 84 And we gave him Ishaq and Ya’qub, all did we guide. And Nuh did we guide before and of his offspring Dawud and Sulayman and Ayyub and Yusuf and Musa and Harun. And thus do we reward the good-doers. 85 And Zakariyya and Yahya and Isa and Ilyas, all are of the righteous. 86 And Isma’il and Alyasa and Yunus and Lut and all did we prefer to the ‘alamin. 87 And of their fathers and their offsprings and their brothers--and we chose them and guided them to a straight path. 88 That is Allah’s guidance. He guides therewith whom he wills of his slaves. And had they associated, what they used to do would have become worthless for them. 89 Those are the ones whom we gave the Book and the judgment and the prophethood to. But if these disbelieve then we have authorised it to a people who are not kafirun in it. 90 Those are the ones whom Allah has guided so of their guidance follow. Say: I do not ask you for a wage for it. It is nothing but a remembrance for the ‘alamin. 91 And they have not estimated Allah with his true estimation when they have said: Allah has not sent down anything upon a human being. Say: Who sent down the Book which Musa brought, light and guidance for people? You make it qaratis; you reveal it and you conceal much. And you were taught what you did not know, you nor your fathers. Say: Allah. Then leave them playing in their involvement. 92 And this is a book; we have sent it down, blessed, confirming that which is in front of it and that you may warn the mother of the villages and those who are around it. And those who believe in the hereafter believe in it and they are guarding over their salat. 93 And who is more unjust than he who has fabricated a lie against Allah or said: I have been inspired, and was not inspired at all and he who has said: I shall send down the like of what Allah has sent down? And were you to see when the wrongdoers are in death throes and the angels stretch out their hands: Expel your souls! Today you are recompensed with the torture of abasement because you used to say other than the truth against Allah and were arrogant towards his verses. 94 And you have come to us alone as we created you the first time and you have left what we bestowed upon you behind your backs. And we do not see your intercessors with you, those you claimed that they were partners among you. It has been severed between you and gone astray from you has what you used to claim. 95 Allah is the splitter of the grain and of the date pit. He brings out the living man from the dead man and is bringing out the dead man from the living man. That is Allah so how are you deluded? 96 The splitter of the daybreak and he made the night a time for rest and the sun and the moon a calculation. That is the projection of the mighty, the learned. 97 And he is the one who made for you the stars to be guided by in the darknesses of the land and the sea. We have detailed the signs for people who know. 98 And he is the one who constructed you from one soul, so a lodging and a warehouse. We have detailed the verses for people who comprehend. 99 And he is the one who has sent down water from the sky then we have brought out with it vegetation of everything. Then we have brought out from it greensward, we bring out from it grain, amassed. And from the date palm, from its pollen clusters hanging low. And jannat of grapes and the olives and the pomegranates resembling and not resembling. Look at its fruit when it has borne fruit and its ripening. In that there are signs for people who believe. 100 And they have made partners for Lah--the jinn and he has created them and they have falsely attributed to him sons and daughters without knowledge. Praise be to him and exalted from what they attribute! 101 The originator of the skies and the Earth. How can he have a child when he has not had a girlfriend? And he created everything. And he is a knower of everything. 102 That is Allah your lord. There is no god but him, the creator of everything, so worship him. And he is an agent over everything. 103 Eyesight does not grasp him and he grasps eyesight and he is the gentle, the expert. 104 Insights have come to you from your lord. So he who has seen then it is for his soul and he who has gone blind then it is against it. And I am not a keeper over you. 105 And thus do we explain the signs and that they may say: You have studied and that we may make it clear for people who know. 106 Follow what you have been inspired with from your lord. There is no god but him and turn away from the mushrikun. 107 And had Allah willed they would not have associated and we have not made you a keeper over them and you are not an agent over them. 108 And do not abuse those they invoke instead of Allah so they abuse Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus have we adorned for every nation their work. Then to their lord is their return and he informs them of what they used to do. 109 And they swear by Allah the strongest of their oaths that if a sign came to them they would believe in it. Say: The signs are only with Allah. And what makes you perceive that when it comes they do not believe? 110 And we flip their hearts and their eyesight as they did not believe in it the first time. And we leave them wandering blindly in their tyranny. 111 And had we sent down to them the angels and the dead had spoken to them and we had gathered before them everything face to face, they would not believe except that Allah wills. But most of them are ignorant. 112 And thus did we make for every prophet an enemy--devils of man and jinn, inspiring one another with the ornament of speech in delusion. But had your lord willed they would not have done it, so leave them and what they fabricate. 113 And that the hearts of those who do not believe in the hereafter may incline to it and that they may be pleased with it and that they may commit what they are committing. 114 So is it other than Allah I seek as a judge when he is the one who has sent down to you the book, detailed? And those whom we gave the Book to know that it is sent down from your lord in truth, so do not be of the doubters. 115 And your lord’s word was fulfilled in truth and justice. None changes his words and he is the hearer, the learned. 116 And if you obey most of those in the land they will misguide you from the way of Allah. They follow nothing but assumption and they but guess. 117 Your lord, he is a knower of who strays from his way and he is the knower of the guided. 118 So eat of what Allah’s name has been mentioned over, if you are believers in his verses. 119 And what is wrong with you not to eat of what Allah’s name has been mentioned over? And he has detailed for you what he has forbidden you except what you have been compelled to. And many mislead by their desires without knowledge. Your lord, he is a knower of the transgressors. 120 And leave open sin and its interior. Those who earn sin will be recompensed for what they used to commit. 121 And do not eat of what Allah’s name has not been mentioned over and it is fisq. And the devils inspire their protectors to dispute with you. And if you obeyed them you would be mushrikun. 122 Is he who was dead and we vivified him and we made light for him, walking thereby among the people, like him the like of him in the darknesses, he is not about to come out of them? Thus has been adorned for the kafirun what they were doing. 123 And thus have we put in every village its biggest criminals to deceive therein. And they do not deceive except against themselves and they do not perceive. 124 And when a verse has come to them they have said: We shall not believe until the like of what was given the messengers of Allah is given. Allah is a knower of where he puts his message. Servility from Allah will afflict those who have committed crime and severe torture for what they were deceiving. 125 Whomever Allah wants to guide, he expands his chest to Islam. And whomever he wants to misguide, he makes his chest tight and constricted as though he were climbing into the sky. Thus Allah puts rijs on those who do not believe. 126 And this is a path of your lord, straight. We have detailed the verses for people who remember. 127 Theirs is the home of peace with their lord. And he is their protector for what they used to do. 128 And on a day he gathers them all: Company of jinn, you have deemed excessive of men. And their protectors among men said: Our lord, some of us have enjoyed others and we have reached our term which you postponed for us. He said: The fire is your shelter, abiding therein indefinitely except what Allah has willed. Your lord is wise, learned. 129 And thus do we appoint protectors, some of the wrongdoers to others, for what they used to earn. 130 Company of jinn and men, did there not come to you messengers from you relating to you my verses and warning you of a meeting of this your day? They said: We have borne witness against ourselves. And the dunya life has beguiled them and they have borne witness against themselves that they were kafirun. 131 That is because your lord was not destroying the villages for wrongdoing and their people unaware. 132 And for all are degrees of what they have done. And your lord is not unaware of what they do. 133 And your lord is the rich, the possessor of mercy. If he willed he would do away with you and appoint as successors after you what he wills as he constructed you from the offspring of other people. 134 What you are promised is coming. And you are not going to escape. 135 Say: People, work on your position. I am a worker. And you will know who has the result of the home. The wrongdoers do not succeed. 136 And they have placed a share for Lah out of what he has created of the tilth and the cattle and said: This is for Lah, by their claim. And this is for our partners. But what was for their partners, it does not arrive at Allah and what was for Lah, it arrives at their partners. Evil was what they judge. 137 And thus have their partners adorned for many of the mushrikun the killing of their children that they may annihilate them and intermingle their religion for them. And had Allah willed they would not have done it. So leave them and what they fabricate. 138 And they have said: This is cattle and tilth, forbidden, none eats them but whom we will, by their claim. And cattle, their backs have been forbidden and cattle they do not mention the name of Allah over, as vilification against him. He will recompense them for what they used to fabricate. 139 And they have said: What is in the bellies of these cattle is exclusively for our males and forbidden for our husbands. And if it is a dead creature then they are partners therein. He will recompense them for their attribution. He is wise, learned. 140 Lost have those who have killed their children--folly without knowledge and they have forbidden what Allah has provided them with, calumniation against Allah. They have strayed and they were not guided. 141 And he is the one who has created jannat, trellised and untrellised, and date palms and fields, different are its food, and olives and pomegranates, similar and dissimilar. Eat of its fruit when it has borne fruit and give its due on the day of its harvest. And do not be extravagant. He does not love the extravagant. 142 And of cattle, as cargo and as a rug. Eat of what Allah has provided you with and do not follow the steps of the Devil. He is an obvious enemy for you. 143 Eight pairs--of the sheep two and of the goats two. Say: Has he forbidden two males or the two females or what the wombs of the two females contain? Inform me with knowledge if you are truthful. 144 And of the camels two and of the cows two. Say: Has he forbidden two males or the two females or what the wombs of the two females contain? Or were you witnesses when Allah bequeathed you this? So who is more unjust than one who has fabricated a lie against Allah to misguide people without knowledge? Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. 145 Say: I do not find in what I have been inspired with something forbidden to a feeder who eats it except that it be a dead creature or blood shed or pork. And it is rijs or fisq that has been dedicated to other than Allah. And he who has been compelled not desiring nor returning then your lord is a forgiver, merciful. 146 And we forbade those who were Jewish every clawed creature and of the cows and the sheep we forbade them their fats except what their backs carried or the entrails or what is mixed with bone. That is their recompense for their outrage and we are truthful. 147 But if they have called you a liar then say: Your lord is a possessor of wide mercy. And his horribleness is not returned from the criminal people. 148 Those who have associated will say: Had Allah willed we would not have associated nor our fathers nor would we have forbidden something. Thus did those before them accuse of lying until they tasted our horribleness. Say: Do you have any knowledge? Then bring it out for us. You follow nothing but assumption and you do nothing but conjecture. 149 Say: So Lah’s is the critical argument. And had he willed he would have guided you all. 150 Say: Come, your witnesses, those who testify that Allah has forbidden this. And if they have testified then do not testify with them. And do not follow the desires of those who have called our verses a lie and those who do not believe in the hereafter, and they make equal to their lord. 151 Say: Come, I shall read what your lord has forbidden you: Not to associate with him at all and kindness to parents and do not kill your children out of destitution; we provide you and them. And do not approach fawahish, what was visible of them and what was hidden. And do not kill the soul that Allah has forbidden except by right. That has he advised you with; perhaps you will comprehend. 152 And do not approach the orphan’s money except with that which is best until he reaches his maturity. And fulfill the measure and the balance with equity. We do not trouble a soul except as to its ability. And when you have spoken be just, even if he were a relative. And fulfill Allah’s covenant. That has he advised you with; perhaps you will remember. 153 And that this is my path, straight, so follow it. And do not follow the ways, then they scatter you from his way. That has he advised you with; perhaps you will fear. 154 Then we gave Musa the Book, perfection upon him who did good and a minute exposition for everything and guidance and a mercy; perhaps they will believe in the meeting of their lord. 155 And this is a book--we have sent it down, blessed, so follow it and fear; perhaps you will be shown mercy. 156 Lest you say: The Book was only sent down upon two cliques before us and we were unaware of their studying. 157 Or you say: Had the Book been sent down upon us we would have been more guided than they. So a proof has come to you from your lord and guidance and mercy. So who is more unjust than he who has called Allah’s verses a lie and has turned away from them? We shall recompense those who turn away from our verses, the evil of the torture because they used to turn away. 158 Do they look except that the angels come to them or your lord comes or some of your lord’s signs come? On a day some of your lord’s signs come its faith will not benefit a soul, it had not believed before or earned good in its faith. Say: Wait. We are waiting. 159 Those who have separated their religion and were parties, you are not of them in anything. Their affair is only to Allah then he informs them of what they used to do. 160 He who has brought a good deed, he has ten the likes of them. And he who has brought an evil deed, he is not recompensed except the like of it and they are not wronged. 161 Say: I, my lord has guided me to a straight path, a worthy religion, the cult of Ibrahim, a Hanif. And he was not of the mushrikun. 162 Say: My salat and my rites and my living and my dying are for Lah, lord of the ‘alamin. 163 No partner has he. And with that have I been commanded and I am the first of the Muslims. 164 Say: Is it other than Allah I should seek as a lord while he is lord of everything? And every soul does not earn except against it and a bearer does not bear another’s burden. Then to your lord is your return and he informs you of what you were differing in. 165 And he is the one who made you successors of the Earth and raised some of you above others in degrees to test you in what he has given you. Your lord is quick in punishment and he is a forgiver, merciful.
