1 Those who have believed, do not take my enemy and your enemy as protectors, throwing them affection when they have disbelieved in what has come to you of the truth, expelling the messenger and you because you believe in Allah your lord. If you come out to wage jihad in my way and seeking my pleasure. You confide in them with affection but I am a knower of what you have concealed and what you have announced. And he who does it among you has strayed from the sameness of the way. 2 If they seize you they will be enemies to you and extend their hands and their tongues with evil to you and they have wished that you would disbelieve. 3 Your wombs will not benefit you nor your children on the day of resurrection. He decides between you. And Allah is a seer of what you do. 4 You had a good exemplar in Ibrahim and those with him when they said to their people: We are exempt from you and from what you worship instead of Allah. We have renounced you and enmity and hatred has appeared between us and you forever until you believe in Allah alone. Except the speech of Ibrahim to his father: I will ask for forgiveness for you and I do not possess for you against Allah a thing. Our lord, in you we have put our trust and to you we have turned and to you is the destiny. 5 Our lord, do not make us fitnah for those who have disbelieved and forgive us, our lord. You, you are the mighty, the wise. 6 You had in them a good model for him who was hoping in Allah and the last day. And he who turns away, then Allah is the rich, the praiseworthy. 7 Perhaps Allah will put affection between you and those among whom you have been enemies with. And Allah is one powerful. And Allah is a forgiver, merciful. 8 Allah does not forbid you from those who have not fought you in the religion and have not expelled you from your homes that you be good towards them and act equitably towards them. Allah loves the equitable. 9 Allah only forbids you from those who have fought you in the religion and have expelled you from your homes and have assisted in your expulsion that you take them for protectors. And those who take them for protectors, those, they are the wrongdoers. 10 Those who have believed, when the believing women have come to you as emigrants, examine them. Allah is a knower of their faith. And if you know them to be believers, do not return them to the kuffar. They are not lawful for them and they are not lawful for them. And give them what they have spent. And there is no misdemeanour upon you to futter them when you have given them their wages. And do not grab matrimony with the kawafir, and ask for what you have spent and let them ask for what they have spent. That is Allah’s judgment. He judges between you. And Allah is learned, wise. 11 And if a thing of your husbands has escaped from you to the kuffar and you have made an interchange then give those whose husbands have gone the like of what they have spent. And fear Allah whom you are believers in. 12 Prophet, when the believing women come to you pledging allegiance to you that they would not associate with Allah at all nor to steal nor to fornicate nor to kill their children nor to bring vilification, fabricating it between their hands and their feet, nor to disobey you in kindness then pledge allegiance to them and ask for forgiveness for them from Allah. Allah is a forgiver, merciful. 13 Those who have believed, do not take as protectors a people whom Allah was angry with. They despair of the hereafter as the kuffar have despaired of the companions of the graves.
