1 Nun. By the pen and what they yastur. 2 You are not, by your lord’s grace, a jinni-possessed man. 3 And yours is an ungrateful wage. 4 And you are of great character. 5 So you will see and they will see 6 Which of you is maftun. 7 Your lord, he is a knower of him who has strayed from his way and he is a knower of the guided. 8 So do not obey those who accuse of lying. 9 They have wished that you would flatter so they flatter. 10 And do not obey every base swearer, 11 A backbiter, a scandalmonger with gossip, 12 A preventer of good, a sinful transgressor, 13 Coarse-grained, after that ignoble. 14 Because he was a possessor of money and sons. 15 When our verses are read to him, he said: Tales of the first ones. 16 We shall brand him on the snout. 17 We tested them as we tested the companions of the jannah when they swore to divide it in the morning 18 And not excepting. 19 So a circulator from your lord circulated upon it while they were sleeping. 20 So it became like a stack of seed. 21 And they called in the morning: 22 Leave early in the morning to your tilth if you are dividers. 23 So they set out while they were talking privately together: 24 A poor man will not enter it upon you today. 25 And they left early in the morning in sullenness able. 26 But when they saw it they said: We are lost. 27 Rather, we are destitute. 28 The midmost of them said: Did I not say to you: Why do you not praise? 29 They said: Praise be to our lord! We were wrongdoers. 30 Then they turned to one another blaming. 31 They said: Woe is us! We were tyrants. 32 Perhaps our lord will substitute for us better than it. We seek our lord. 33 Thus is the torture. And the torture of the hereafter is bigger, if they knew. 34 For the fearers with their lord are the jannat of bliss. 35 So shall we make the Muslims like the criminals? 36 What is wrong with you, how do you judge? 37 Or do you have a book wherein you study? 38 You have therein what you choose. 39 Or do you have oaths upon us reaching to the day of resurrection? You have what you judge. 40 Ask them which of them is a leader in that. 41 Or do they have partners? Let them bring their partners if they are truthful. 42 On a day it is uncovered from a leg and they are called to sujud but they cannot. 43 Their eyesight devout, humiliation covers them. And they were called to sujud while they were sound. 44 So leave me and him who says that this hadith is a lie. We shall tempt them from where they do not know. 45 And I shall give them respite. My scheme is solid. 46 Or you ask them for a wage and they are laden with liability? 47 Or is the ghayb with them so they write? 48 So be patient for your lord’s judgment and do not be like the companion of the whale when he invoked while he was confined. 49 Had grace from his lord not overtaken him he would have been thrown outdoors while detestable. 50 But his lord chose him and made him of the righteous. 51 And those who have disbelieved would almost make you slip by their eyesight when they have heard the dhikr and they say: He is jinni-possessed. 52 And it is nothing but a dhikr for the ‘alamin.
