1 They ask you about the spoils. Say: The spoils are Lah’s and the messenger’s. So fear Allah and reform your disagreement and obey Allah and his messenger if you are believers. 2 The believers are only those whose hearts have been in fright when Allah has been mentioned and when his verses have been read to them, they have increased them in faith and in their lord they put their trust. 3 Those who perform the salat and spend from what we have provided them. 4 Those are the believers truly. Theirs are degrees with their lord and forgiveness and a generous provision. 5 As your lord took you out of your house in truth and a party of the believers dislike. 6 They argue with you concerning the truth after it has become clear as though they were being driven to death while they were looking. 7 And when Allah promises you one of the two bands that you should have and you wish that you would have other than that of the arms. And Allah wants to enforce the truth with his words and cut the roots of the kafirun. 8 To force the truth and invalidate falsehood, even if the criminals have disliked. 9 When you ask your lord for help and he responded to you: I am aiding you with 1,000 of the angels one after the other. 10 And Allah made it nothing but good news and that your hearts might be calm therewith. And victory is nothing but from Allah. Allah is mighty, wise. 11 When he covers you with drowsiness as serenity from him and sends down water upon you from the sky to purify you with it and take away the Devil’s rijz from you. And to bind on your hearts and make feet firm with it. 12 When your lord inspires the angels: I am with you so make those who have believed firm. I shall throw terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved. So strike above the necks and strike from them every distal phalanx. 13 That is because they have opposed Allah and his messenger. And he who opposes Allah and his messenger, Allah is the severe in punishment. 14 That--So taste it. And that for the kafirun is the torture of the fire. 15 Those who have believed, when you have met those who have disbelieved advancing, do not turn your backsides on them. 16 And he who turns his backside on them that day except as avoiding for fighting or withdrawing to a group has returned with anger from Allah and his shelter is Jahannam. And miserable was the destiny. 17 And you did not kill them but Allah killed them. And you did not throw when you threw but Allah threw and to test the believers with a good affliction from him. Allah is a hearer, learned. 18 That and that Allah weakens the kafirun’s trick. 19 If you ask for conquest, the conquest has come to you. And if you cease, it is good for you. And if you return, we return. And your band will not avail you at all, even if they were many. And that Allah is with the believers. 20 Those who have believed, obey Allah and his messenger. And do not turn away from him while you hear. 21 And do not be like those who have said: We have heard, while they do not hear. 22 The worst of beasts with Allah are the deaf, the mute--those who do not comprehend. 23 And had Allah known good in them he would have made them hear. And had he made them hear they would have turned away while they were averse. 24 Those who have believed, respond to Lah and to his messenger when he has called you to what vivifies you. And know that Allah shifts between a man and his heart and that to him are you gathered. 25 And fear fitnah that does not hit those who have wronged among you especially. And know that Allah is the severe in punishment. 26 And remember when you were few, found weak in the land, fearing that people might do away with you, and he lodged you and supported you with his help and provided you from the good things; perhaps you will thank. 27 Those who have believed, do not betray Allah and the messenger and betray your trusts while you know. 28 And know that your monies and your children are fitnah. And that Allah--with him is a great wage. 29 Those who have believed, if you fear Allah he will make a furqan for you and atone your evil deeds for you and forgive you. And Allah is the possessor of the great favour. 30 And when those who have disbelieved deceive against you to corroborate you or kill you or expel you. And they deceive and Allah deceives. And Allah is the best of deceivers. 31 And when our verses are read to them they have said: We have heard. If we will we would say the like of this. This is nothing but the tales of the first ones. 32 And when they said: Allahumma, if this was the truth from you, rain stones from the sky upon us or bring us painful torture. 33 And Allah would not torture them while you were among them and Allah was not one to torture them while they ask for forgiveness. 34 And what do they have that Allah should not torture them while they block from the Sacred Mosque and were not its protectors? Its protectors are nothing but the fearers but most of them do not know. 35 And their salat at the house was nothing but whistling and clapping. So taste the torture because you used to disbelieve. 36 Those who have disbelieved spend their monies to block from the way of Allah. So they will spend them then it will be a regret for them then they will be defeated and those who have disbelieved will be gathered to Jahannam. 37 That Allah may distinguish the malignant one from the good and put the malignant one on one another and pile him up, all and put him in Jahannam. Those are the losers. 38 Say to those who have disbelieved: If they cease they will be forgiven what has passed. And if they return, the sunnah of the first ones has passed. 39 And fight them until there is no fitnah and all the religion is Lah’s. But if they cease, Allah is a seer of what they do. 40 And if they turn away, know that Allah is your mawla. Excellent was the mawla and excellent the helper. 41 And know that what you have plundered of a thing, that Lah’s is a fifth of it and the messenger’s and the relatives’ and the orphans’ and the needy ones’ and the traveller’s, if you believe in Allah and what we sent down upon our slave on the day of the Furqan, a day the two crowds met. And Allah is mighty over everything. 42 When you are on the nearer bank and they on the further bank and the convoy lower than you. And had you made an appointment you would have differed in the appointment. But that Allah might decide a matter that was done that he might destroy him who perished on a proof and keep alive him who lived on a proof. And Allah is a hearer, learned. 43 When Allah shows you them in your dream as few and had he shown you them as many you would have lost heart and disputed concerning the matter but Allah protected. He is learned in that in the chests. 44 And when he shows you them when you met in your eyes as few and reduces you in their eyes that Allah may decide a matter that was done. And to Allah the matters return. 45 Those who have believed, when you have met a band, be firm and remember Allah much; perhaps you will succeed. 46 And obey Allah and his messenger and do not contend so that you fail and your wind go, and be patient. Allah is with the patient. 47 And do not be like those who came out of their homes swaggeringly and to be seen by people and who block from the way of Allah. And Allah is encompassing what they do. 48 And when the Devil adorned for them their deeds and said: There is no defeater for you today of people and I am a neighbour to you. But when the two bands saw each other he turned back on his heels and said: I am innocent of you. I see what you do not see. I fear Allah. And Allah is the severe in punishment. 49 When the hypocrites and those in whose hearts is disease say: Their religion has deluded these. And he who puts his trust in Allah, Allah is mighty, wise. 50 And if you saw when the angels cause those who have disbelieved to die hitting their faces and their backsides: And taste the torture of the fire. 51 That is for what their hands have offered. And that Allah is not an evildoer to the slaves. 52 Like the habitude of Fir’awn’s family and those before them. They disbelieved in Allah’s verses so Allah took them for their sins. Allah is strong and the severe in punishment. 53 That is because Allah was not one to change grace that he had bestowed upon a people until they should change what is in themselves. And that Allah is a hearer, learned. 54 Like the habitude of Fir’awn’s family and those before them. They called their lord’s verses a lie so we destroyed them for their sins and we drowned Fir’awn’s family and all were wrongdoers. 55 The worst of beasts with Allah are those who have disbelieved and they do not believe. 56 Those you have covenanted with then they break their covenant every time while they do not fear. 57 So if you meet them in war, startle with them him behind them; perhaps they will remember. 58 And if you fear betrayal from a people, throw to them on equal terms. Allah does not love the betrayers. 59 And let those who have disbelieved not think that they have preceded. They do not escape. 60 And prepare for them what you can of strength and of a team of horses, terrifying therewith Allah’s enemy and your enemy and others instead of them. You do not know them; Allah knows them. And what you spend of anything in the way of Allah is paid in full to you and you are not wronged. 61 And if they have inclined to peace, incline to it. And put your trust in Allah. He is the hearer, the learned. 62 And if they want to deceive you, Allah is your sufficiency. He is the one who has supported you with his help and with the believers. 63 And he has united between their hearts. Had you spent all what is on the Earth you would not have united between their hearts but Allah has united between them. He is mighty, wise. 64 Prophet, your sufficiency is Allah and he who has followed you of the believers. 65 Prophet, incite the believers to fight. If there are among you 20 patient ones, they will defeat 200. And if there are among you 100, they will defeat 1,000 of those who have disbelieved, because they are a people who do not comprehend. 66 Now Allah has lightened for you and he knew that there is weakness in you. So if there are among you 100 patient, they will defeat 200. And if there are among you 1,000, they will defeat 2,000 with Allah’s permission. And Allah is with the patient. 67 It was not for a prophet that he should have prisoners until he should injure in the land. You want the display of the dunya and Allah wants the hereafter. And Allah is mighty, wise. 68 Had a book from Allah not preceded, great torture would have touched you for what you took. 69 So eat of what you have plundered--halal, good, and fear Allah. Allah is a forgiver, merciful. 70 Prophet, say to him who is in your hands of the prisoners: If Allah knows good in your hearts, he will give you better than what was taken from you and forgive you. And Allah is a forgiver, merciful. 71 And if they want to betray you, they betrayed Allah before. So he has enabled some of them. And Allah is learned, wise. 72 Those who have believed and emigrated and waged jihad with their monies and their souls in the way of Allah and those who have lodged and helped, those--they are one another’s protectors. And those who have believed and have not emigrated, you do not have any of their protection from anything until they emigrate. And if they have sought your help in the religion, upon you is the help except against a people between you and them is a covenant. And Allah is a seer of what you do. 73 And those who have disbelieved, they are one another’s protectors. Except you do it there will be fitnah in the land and big corruption. 74 And those who have believed and emigrated and waged jihad in the way of Allah and those who have lodged and helped, those are the believers truly. Theirs is forgiveness and a generous provision. 75 And those who believed afterwards and emigrated and waged jihad with you, those are of you. And the possessors of wombs are nearer to one another in Allah’s book. Allah is learned in everything.
