1 By the sun and its forenoon, 2 By the moon when it has read it, 3 By the day when it has revealed it, 4 By the night when it covers it, 5 By the sky and what built it, 6 By the Earth and what spread it, 7 By a soul and what smoothed it. 8 And he inspired it with its licentiousness and its taqwa. 9 Succeeded has he who has purified it. 10 Failed has he who has corrupted it. 11 Thamud accused of lying by its despotism, 12 When the most burdensome of them was sent out. 13 But Allah’s messenger said to them: Allah’s cow camel and her drink. 14 But they called him a liar and hamstrung her. So their lord growled at them for their sin and levelled it. 15 And he does not fear its consequence.
