In the Quran, were Adam and the unnamed Eve wearing clothes?
S 7:27 Banu Adam, let the Devil not tempt you as he expelled your parents from the Jannah, stripping them of their clothes to show them their pudenda. He sees you, he and his tribe, from where you do not see them. We have made the devils protectors for those who do not believe.
So they wore clothes but Satan stripped them of their clothes? In another verse they fasten leaves together to make clothing.
S 20:121 So they two ate from it and their pudenda appeared to them and they began to fasten upon them from the leaves of the Jannah. And Adam disobeyed his lord and strayed.
In the one verse Satan stripped them of their clothes, in another their pudenda appeared to them after they had eaten from the tree.
In non-Quranic hadith we read:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'The (people of) Bani Israel used to take bath naked (all together) looking at each other. The Prophet (ﷺ) Moses used to take a bath alone. They said, 'By Allah! Nothing prevents Moses from taking a bath with us except that he has a scrotal hernia.' So once Moses went out to take a bath and put his clothes over a stone and then that stone ran away with his clothes. Moses followed that stone saying, "My clothes, O stone! My clothes, O stone! till the people of Bani Israel saw him and said, 'By Allah, Moses has got no defect in his body. Moses took his clothes and began to beat the stone." Abu Huraira added, "By Allah! There are still six or seven marks present on the stone from that excessive beating."
Allah makes a stone steal Musa's clothes.
In the verse above Satan expels them. A further verse:
S 2:36 Then the Devil tripped them from it and expelled them from what they were in. And we said: Get down, an enemy to one another. And you have a lodging and goods on the Earth for a time.
S 20:117 Then we said: Adam, this is an enemy to you and to your husband. So do not let him expel you two from the Jannah so you would be wretched.
In S 2:36, do both Satan and Allah expel them?
In the following verse, Allah expels them:
S 2:38 We said: Get down from it all of you! And when guidance comes to you from me then those who have followed my guidance, there is no fear upon them nor do they grieve.
According to al-Tabari, they were covered in feathers until they ate.
