The Injil

In this post I shall list a number of passages that explicitly mention the word Injil.

S 3:3 He has sent down upon you the book in truth confirming what is in front of him and he sent down the Torah and the Injil

S 3:48 And he teaches him the Book and the Wisdom and the Torah and the Injil.

S 3:65 People of the Book, why do you argue concerning Ibrahim when the Torah and the Injil were not sent down except after him? So do you not comprehend?

S 5:46 And we sent on their tracks Isa son of Maryam, confirming what is in front of him of the Torah, and we gave him the Injil. Therein is guidance and light and confirming what is in front of him of the Torah and guidance and exhortation for the fearers.

Therein is guidance and light. There is no was in the text. The Injil confirms, not confirmed. There is guidance and exhortation for the fearers, which would include Muslims.

S 5:47 And let the People of the Injil judge by what Allah has sent down therein. And those who have not judged by what Allah has sent down then those are the fasiqun.

How can they judge by the Injil if it has been corrupted?

S 5:66 And had they established the Torah and the Injil and what has been sent down to them from their lord, they would have eaten above them and below their feet. Among them is a frugal nation and many of them--evil is what they do.

S 5:68 Say: People of the Book, you are on nothing until you establish the Torah and the Injil and what has been sent down to you from your lord. And increases many of them, what has been sent down to you from your lord, in tyranny and kufr. So do not grieve over the kafirun people.

Christians and Jews stand on nothing until they establish the Injil, "and what has been sent down to you from your lord". This second part presumably means the Quran. But weren't the Torah and Injil supposedly 'sent down' from Allah, supposedly their lord?

S 5:110 When Allah said: Isa son of Maryam, remember my grace upon you and upon your mother when I supported you with the holy spirit when you speak to the people in the cradle and in middle age. And when I taught you the book and the wisdom and the Torah and the Injil. And when you create from the clay as the form of the bird with my permission and blow into it and it is a bird with my permission and you heal the blind man and the leper with my permission and when you bring out the dead with my permission. And when I restrained the Banu Isra’il from you when you brought them proofs and those who disbelieved of them said: This is nothing but obvious magic.

If the Torah and the Injil are books, then is "the wisdom" too a book? Wisdom Literature comes to mind, which isn't one book. And what is "the book"? The Bible?

S 7:157 Those who follow the messenger, the ummi prophet, whom they find written with them in the Torah and the Injil. He commands them kindness and forbids them baseness and declares lawful for them the good things and declares unlawful for them the bad and lays their burden from them and the shackles that were on them. So those who have believed in him and aided him and helped him and followed the light that was sent down with him, those are the successful.

S 9:111 Allah has bought from the believers their souls and their monies because theirs is the Jannah. They fight in the way of Allah. They kill and are killed. A promise upon him, a law, in the Torah and the Injil and the Quran. And who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? So rejoice in your sale which you have contracted. And that, it is the great win.

Where in the Torah and the Injil is this law binding upon Allah to be found?

S 57:27 Then we sent after on their tracks our messengers and we sent after Isa son of Maryam and gave him the Injil. And we put kindness and mercy in the hearts of those who followed him. And monasticism, they innovated it. We did not write it upon them but the seeking of Allah’s pleasure but they did not observe it with its right care. So we gave those who had believed among them their wage and many of them are fasiqun.
