S 2:275 Those who consume interest do not stand up except as the one whom the Devil fumbles with with touch stands up. That is because they have said: Selling is only the like of interest. And Allah has permitted selling and forbidden interest. So he whom admonition from his lord has come to and he has ceased, his is what has passed and his affair is to Allah and he who has returned, those are the companions of the fire, they abide therein indefinitely.

S 2:276 Allah annihilates interest and increases the charities. And Allah does not love every immoral ingrate.

S 2:278 Those who have believed, fear Allah and leave what has remained of interest if you are believers.

S 3:130 Those who have believed, do not consume interest, doubling, multiplication. And fear Allah; perhaps you will succeed.

S 4:161 And their taking of interest when they had been forbidden from it and their consuming the monies of the people unlawfully. And we have prepared for the kafirun among them painful torture.

S 30:39 And what you have given from interest to increase in people’s monies, they do not increase with Allah. And what you have given from zakat, wanting the face of Allah, those are the doubled.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

"There are seventy degrees of usury, the least of which is equivalent to a man having intercourse with his mother."

Usama b. Zaid reported the Prophet as saying, "Credit involves usury.” In a version he said, "There is no usury when payment is made on the spot.” (Bukhari and Muslim.)

‘Umar reported God's Messenger as saying, "Gold for gold is usury unless both hand over on the spot*; silver for silver is usury unless both hand over on the spot; wheat for wheat is usury unless both hand over on the spot; barley for barley is usury unless both hand over on the spot; dates for dates is usury unless both hand over on the spot." (Bukhari and Muslim.) *"the Arabic is ha’ waha’ meaning literally "take and take”.

Narrated Abu Juhaifa:

The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade the use of the price of blood and the price of a dog, the one who takes (eats) usury the one who gives usury, the woman who practises tattooing and the woman who gets herself tattooed.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:

The last Verse (in the Qur'an) revealed to the Prophet (ﷺ) was the Verse dealing with usury (i.e. Riba).

It was narrated that 'Umar bin Khattab said:

"The last thing to be revealed was the Verse on usury but the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) died before he had explained it to us. So give up usury (interest) and doubtful things."

But isn't quran clear? It needs to be explained?

Narrated AbuUmamah:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: If anyone intercedes for his brother and he presents a gift to him for it and he accepts it, he approaches a great door of the doors of usury.

It was narrated from Ibn Mas'ud that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:

"There is no one who deals in usury a great deal (to increase his wealth) but he will end up with little (i.e., his wealth will be decreased)."

Abu Burda b. Abu Musa said:

I came to Medina and met 'Abdallah b. Salam who said, "You are in a land in which usury is common, so when anyone owes you anything and presents you with a load of straw, or a load of barley, or a rope of lucerne grass, do not accept it for it is usury." Bukhari transmitted it.

Narrated AbuHurayrah:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: A time is certainly coming to mankind when only the receiver of usury will remain, and if he does not receive it, some of its vapour will reach him. Ibn Isa said: Some of its dust will reach him.

Abu Huraira reported God's Messenger as saying, "On the night when I was taken up to heaven I came upon people whose bellies were like houses and contained snakes which could be seen from outside their bellies. I asked Gabriel who they were and he told me that they were people who had practised usury.” Ahmad and Ibn Majah transmitted it.
