The Quran 'confirms':

S 2:41 And believe in what I have sent down confirming what is with you and do not be the first kafir of it. And do not buy my verses at a low price and me then you fear.

S 2:91 And when it was said to them: Believe in what Allah has sent down, they said: We believe in what was sent down upon us. And they disbelieve in what is behind it, when it is the truth confirming what they have. Say: So why do you kill Allah’s prophets before, if you are believers?

S 2:97 Say: He who was an enemy to Jibril, he sent it down upon your heart with Allah’s permission, confirming what is in front of it and as guidance and good news for the believers.

S 2:101 And when a messenger came to them from Allah confirming what is with them, a party of those who were given the Book chucked Allah’s book behind their backs as though they do not know.

S 3:3 He has sent down upon you the book in truth confirming what is in front of him and he sent down the Torah and the Injil

Allah supposedly 'sent down' the Torah and the (fourfold) Gospel.

S 3:50 Confirming what is in front of me of the Torah and to permit for you some of that which had been forbidden to you and I have come to you with a sign from your lord, so fear Allah and follow me.

S 3:81 And when Allah took the covenant of the prophets: What I have given you of a book and wisdom then a messenger has come to you confirming what is with you, you shall believe in him and help him. He said: Have you ratified and taken my compact upon that? They said: We have ratified. He said: Then bear witness and I am with you among the witnesses.

S 4:47 Those who have been given the Book, believe in what we have sent down confirming what you have before we efface faces and repel them onto their backsides or curse them as we cursed the companions of the Sabbath! And Allah’s command was done.

S 5:46 And we sent on their tracks Isa son of Maryam, confirming what is in front of him of the Torah, and we gave him the Injil. Therein is guidance and light and confirming what is in front of him of the Torah and guidance and exhortation for the fearers.

S 5:48 And we have sent down to you the book with truth, confirming what is in front of him of the Book and governing over it. So judge between them by what Allah has sent down and do not follow their desires when some of the truth has come to you. For all of you have we made a bill and a curriculum. And had Allah willed he would have made you one nation but to test you in what he has given you. So race to goods. To Allah is all your return then he informs you of what you used to differ in.

S 6:92 And this is a book; we have sent it down, blessed, confirming that which is in front of it and that you may warn the mother of the villages and those who are around it. And those who believe in the hereafter believe in it and they are guarding over their salat.

S 35:31 And which we have inspired you with of the book. It is the truth, confirming what is in front of it. Allah is an expert in his slaves, a seer.

S 46:12 And before it is the book of Moses as a guideline and a mercy. And this is a book confirming in Arabic to warn those who have done wrong and good news for the good-doers.

S 46:30 They said: Our people, we have heard a book sent down after Musa confirming what is in front of it, guiding to the truth and to a straight way.

S 61:6 And when Isa son of Maryam said: Banu Isra’il, I am Allah’s messenger to you, confirming what is in front of me of the Torah and as one giving the good news of a messenger coming after me, called Ahmad. But when he came to them with the proofs they said: This is obvious magic.

Would Isa and Allah be confirming the work attributed to some other deity?

A number of Islamic prophets, real or otherwise, have names that incorporate the Divine Name. Zakariya means 'Jah Remembers'. Yahya means 'Jah Is Gracious'. If we accept that Isa is the true Arabic form of Jesus, then it would mean 'Jah is Salvation'. This Divine Name is found in the Bible. Would Allah have had prophets whose names incorporated the name of another deity?

The author wants it understood that the Bible is Allah's work.

People of the Book.

A number of times the author calls Christians and Jews 'the People of the Book'. See my post on this term. https://philhoraia.wixsite.com/website/post/on-the-term-people-of-the-book

S 2:105 Those who have disbelieved of the People of the Book do not like, nor the mushrikun, that any good should be sent down upon you from your lord. And Allah favours with his mercy whom he wills. And Allah is the possessor of the great favour.

S 2:109 Many of the People of the Book have desired bringing you back after your faith as kuffar out of envy from themselves after what the truth became clear to them. So pardon and overlook until Allah comes with his command. Allah is almighty.

S 3:64 Say: People of the Book, come to a sawa’ word between us and you that we do not worship but Allah nor associate with him at all nor take one another as lords instead of Allah. Then if they turn away say: Bear witness that we are Muslims.

S 3:65 People of the Book, why do you argue concerning Ibrahim when the Torah and the Injil were not sent down except after him? So do you not comprehend?

S 3:69 A band of the People of the Book have wished to misguide you but they do not misguide except themselves and they do not perceive.

S 3:70 People of the Book, why do you disbelieve in Allah’s verses when you testify?

S 3:71 People of the Book, why do you intermingle the truth with falsehood and conceal the truth when you know?

S 3:72 And a band of the People of the Book have said: Believe in what has been sent down upon those who have believed at the beginning of the day and disbelieve at the end of it, that they may perhaps return.

S 3:75 And of the People of the Book is he who, if you feel safe from him with a qintar, he returns it to you. And among them is he who, if you feel safe from him with a dinar, he does not return it to you except what you have lasted standing over him. That is because they have said: There is not a way over us among the ummiyun. And they say a lie concerning Allah while they know.

S 3:98 Say: People of the Book, why do you disbelieve in Allah’s verses when Allah is a witness over what you do?

S 3:99 Say: People of the Book, why do you hinder from the way of Allah, seeking it as crookedness when you are witnesses? And Allah is not unaware of what you do.

S 3:110 You were the best nation taken out for people, commanding kindness and forbidding baseness and believing in Allah. And had the People of the Book believed they would have had good. Among them are the believers and most of them are the fasiqun.

S 3:113 They are not equal. Among the People of the Book is a nation standing reading the verses of Allah during the hours of the night and they do sujud.

S 3:199 And among the People of the Book are those who believe in Allah and what has been sent down to you and what has been sent down to them, humble towards Lah. They do not buy Allah’s verses at a low price. Those, for them is their wage with their lord. Allah is the quick in account.

S 4:123 It is not by your wishes nor the wishes of the People of the Book. He who does ill is rewarded for it and does not find for him a protector or helper instead of Allah.

S 4:153 The People of the Book ask you to bring down upon them a book from the sky. And they had asked Musa greater than that and said: Show us Allah overtly. So the thunderbolt took them for their wrongdoing. Then they took the calf after what the proofs had come to them then we pardoned for that. And we gave Musa clear authority.

S 4:159 And there is none of the People of the Book but shall believe in it before his death. And on the day of resurrection he is a witness against them.

Regarding this verse, see: Observations on Surah an-Nisa' 4:159

S 4:171 People of the Book, do not exceed in your religion nor say about Allah but the truth. The Messiah Isa the son of Maryam is only a messenger of Allah’s and his word which he threw to Maryam and spirit from him. So believe in Allah and his messengers and do not say Three. Cease; it is better for you. Allah is only one god. Praise be to him that he should have a child! His is what is in the skies and what is on the Earth. And Allah was sufficient as an agent.

S 5:15 People of the Book, our messenger has come to you making clear to you much of what you used to conceal of the Book and pardoning much. A light and a clear book have come to you from Allah.

S 5:19 People of the Book, our messenger has come to you, making clear for you concerning the interval of the messengers lest you say: No bringer of good news or nadhir has come to us. A bringer of good news and a nadhir has come to you. And Allah is almighty.

S 5:59 Say: People of the Book, do you venge us except that we have believed in Allah and what has been sent down to us and what was sent down before and that most of you are fasiqun?

S 5:65 And had the People of the Book believed and feared we would have atoned for their evil deeds and admitted them to the jannat of bliss.

S 5:68 Say: People of the Book, you are on nothing until you establish the Torah and the Injil and what has been sent down to you from your lord. And increases many of them, what has been sent down to you from your lord, in tyranny and kufr. So do not grieve over the kafirun people.

S 5:77 Say: People of the Book, do not exceed in your religion other than the truth and do not follow the desires of a people who strayed before, and they misled many and they strayed from the evenness of the way.

S 29:46 And do not argue with the People of the Book except in that which is best, except those who have wronged among them, and say: We have believed in that which has been sent down to us and sent down to you and our god and your God are one and we are Muslims to him.

S 33:26 And he sent down those who had aided them of the People of the Book from their strongholds and threw terror into their hearts. A party you kill and a party you capture.

S 57:29 Lest the People of the Book know they do not have power over anything from Allah’s favour and that the favour is in Allah’s hand. He gives it to whom he wills. And Allah is the possessor of the great favour.

S 59:2 He is the one who expelled those who had disbelieved of the People of the Book from their homes at the first banishment. You did not think that they would come out and they thought that their fortresses would defend them against Allah. But Allah came to them from where they did not take into consideration and he cast terror into their hearts, they destroyed their houses with their hands and the hands of the believers. So learn a lesson, possessors of eyesight.

S 59:11 Have you not seen those who have played the hypocrite saying to their brothers, those who have disbelieved of the People of the Book: If you are expelled we will go out with you and will never obey anyone concerning you and if you are fought we will help you? And Allah bears witness that they are liars.

S 98:1 Those who had disbelieved of the People of the Book and of the mushrikun were not to be dissolved until the proof should come to them,

S 98:6 Those who have disbelieved of the People of the Book and of the mushrikun are in the fire of Jahannam, abiding therein indefinitely. Those--they are the worst of creatures.

What book? The Bible is known in Arabic as Al-Kitab Al-Muqaddas, 'The Holy Book'. In the founder of Islam's mind this consisted of the Torah and the Injil. The Torah itself often stands for the whole Old Testament and the Injil for the whole New Testament.

The Book given to Musa.

Musa, we are told, was given a book. Although not explicitly stated, this is understood to be the Torah. See: Surah al-Maa'ida 5:44

S 2:53 And when we gave Musa the Book and the Furqan; perhaps you will be guided.

S 2:87 And we gave Musa the Book and sent the messengers after him. And we gave Isa son of Maryam the proofs and supported him with the Holy Spirit. So has every time a messenger come to you with what your souls do not desire you have been arrogant? So a party you accused of lying and a party you kill.

S 6:154 Then we gave Musa the Book, perfection upon him who did good and a minute exposition for everything and guidance and a mercy; perhaps they will believe in the meeting of their lord.

S 11:110 And we gave Musa the Book but it was differed concerning it. And had it not been for a word that preceded from your lord it would have been decided between them. And they are in suspicious doubt about it.

S 17:2 And we gave Musa the book and made it a guide for the Banu Isra'il: Not to take an agent instead of me.

S 23:49 And we gave Musa the Book; perhaps they would be guided.

S 25:35 And we gave Musa the Book and we put with him his brother Harun as a minister.

S 28:43 And we gave Musa the book after what we had destroyed the first centuries as basa’ir for people and guidance and mercy; perhaps they will remember.

S 32:23 And we gave Musa the Book so do not be in doubt about his meeting. And we made it a guide for the Banu Isra’il.

S 40:53 says that Musa was given the guidance, and that the Israelites were caused to inherit 'the book'.

And we gave Musa the guidance and caused the Banu Isra'il to inherit the book,

S 41:45 And we gave Musa the Book but it was differed therein. And had speech not preceded from your lord it would have been decided between them. And they are in doubt about it, feeling doubt.

Those given the Book.

A number of passages speak of 'those given the Book'.

S 2:101 And when a messenger came to them from Allah confirming what is with them, a party of those who were given the Book chucked Allah’s book behind their backs as though they do not know.

S 2:144 It may be we see the turning of your face to the sky so we turn you to a qiblah that you will be pleased with. So turn your face towards the Sacred Mosque and wherever you are turn your faces towards it. And those who were given the Book know that it is the truth from their lord. And Allah is not unaware of what they do.

S 2:145 Even if you had brought those who had been given the Book all signs, they would not have followed your qiblah and you are not a follower of their qiblah. And they are not a follower of each other’s qiblah. And if you followed their desires after what has come to you of knowledge, you would then be of the wrongdoers.

S 2:146 Those whom we gave the Book to recognise it as they recognise their sons. And a party of them conceals the truth when they know.

S 3:19 The religion with Allah is Islam. And those who were given the Book did not differ except after what knowledge came to them wrongly among them. And he who disbelieves in Allah’s verses, Allah is quick in account.

S 3:20 And if they argue with you say: I have surrendered my face to Lah and he who has followed me. And say to those who were given the Book and the ummiyun: Have you surrendered? Then if they have surrendered then are they guided. But if they turn away then only the notice is upon you. And Allah is seer of the slaves.

S 3:23 speaks of those 'given a share of the Book'.

Have you not seen those who were given a share of the Book? They are called to Allah’s book to judge among them then a party of them turns away and they are averse.

S 3:100 Those who have believed, if you obey a party from those given the Book they will bring you back after your faith as kafirun.

S 3:186 You shall be tested in your monies and yourselves and hear from those who were given the Book before you and from those who have associated much harm. And if you are patient and fear, that is from the determination of matters.

S 3:187 And when Allah took a covenant of those who were given the Book: You shall make it clear to people and not conceal it. But they threw it behind their backs and bought it at a low price. So miserable was what they buy.

S 4:44 speaks of those "given a share of the Book'".

Have you not looked at those who were given a share of the Book buying error and wanting you to stray from the way?

S 4:47 Those who have been given the Book, believe in what we have sent down confirming what you have before we efface faces and repel them onto their backsides or curse them as we cursed the companions of the Sabbath! And Allah’s command was done.

S 4:51 Have you not looked at those who were given a share of the Book? They believe in al-jibt and al-taghut and say for those who have disbelieved: These are more guided than those who have believed as to the way.

S 4:131 And Lah’s is what is in the skies and what is on the Earth. And we advised those who had been given the Book before you and you to fear Allah. But if you disbelieve then Lah’s is what is in the skies and what is on the Earth. And Allah was rich, praiseworthy.

S 5:5 Today have the good things been permitted for you and the food of those who were given the Book is permitted for you and your food is permitted for them. And the muhsanat of the believers and the muhsanat of those who were given the Book before you when you have given them their wages, fortified, not musafihun or takers of paramours. And he who disbelieves the faith, his work has failed and he in the hereafter is of the losers.

S 5:57 Those who have believed, do not take those who have taken your religion as a quip and a game from those who were given the Book before you and the kuffar as protectors. And fear Allah if you are believers.

S 9:29 Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the last day and do not forbid what Allah and his messenger have forbidden and do not submit to the religion of truth of those who were given the Book until they give the jizyah from subjection while they are abased.

S 57:16 Has it not come for those who have believed for their hearts to yield to Allah’s dhikr and what has come down of the truth? And that they should not be like those who were given the Book before and the appointed time was long for them so their hearts hardened and many of them are fasiqun.

Another title given to Christians and Jews is The People of the Dhikr. https://philhoraia.wixsite.com/website/post/dhikr

S 74:31 And we have not made the companions of the fire but angels. And we have not made their number except as fitnah for those who have disbelieved that those who were given the Book may be certain and that those who have believed may increase in faith and that those who were given the Book and the believers may not doubt and that those in whose hearts is disease and the kafirun may say: What did Allah want by this example? Thus Allah misguides whom he wills and guides whom he wills. And none knows your lord’s troops but him. And it is nothing but a remembrance for the human being.

S 98:4 And those who were given the Book did not disperse except after what the proof came to them.

Those we gave the Book to.

S 2:121 Those we gave the Book to read it with its right chanting. Those believe in it. And he who disbelieves in it, those are the losers.

S 2:146 Those whom we gave the Book to recognise it as they recognise their sons. And a party of them conceals the truth when they know.

S 4:54 states that Ibrahim's family was given the Book.

Or do they envy people for what Allah has given them from his favour? But we gave Ibrahim’s family the Book and the Wisdom and we gave them a great dominion.

S 6:20 Those we have given the Book to recognise him as they recognise their sons. Those who have lost themselves, they do not believe.

S 6:89 Those are the ones whom we gave the Book and the judgment and the prophethood to. But if these disbelieve then we have authorised it to a people who are not kafirun in it.

S 6:114 So is it other than Allah I seek as a judge when he is the one who has sent down to you the detailed book? And those whom we gave the Book to know that it is sent down from your lord with truth, so do not be of the doubters.

S 13:36 And those we gave the Book to rejoice over what has been sent down to you and among the parties is he who denies some of it. Say: I have only been commanded to worship Allah and not to associate with him. To him I call and to him is a repenting.

S 28:52 Those whom we gave the Book to before it, they believe in it.

S 29:47 And thus have we sent down to you the book. So those whom we gave the Book to believe in it. And among these is he who believes in it. And none rejects our verses but the kafirun.

S 37:117 And we gave them the clarifying Book.
