In S 17:40 we read: Then has your lord chosen for you sons and taken from the angels females? You say a great speech.

S 37:150 Or did we create the angels females while they were witnesses?

S 43:19 And they have made the angels, those who are Al-Rahman’s slaves, females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be written and they asked.

S 53:27-28 Those who do not believe in the hereafter give the angels the denomination of the female. / And they have no knowledge of it. They follow nothing but assumption. And assumption does not avail against the truth at all.

But below we come across female designations for what are apparently angels.

S 13:11 He has mu’aqqibat in front of him and behind him who guard him from Allah’s command. Allah does not change what is with a people until they change what is with themselves. And when Allah has wanted evil with a people there is no cause for it and they have no governor instead of him.

S 77:3 And The Spreaders-Out as a spreading,

S 77:4 And The Separators as a separation,

S 77:5 And Al-Mulqiyat of a dhikr

S 79:1 By Al-Nazi’at as a drowning,
