S 7:46 And between them is a screen and on the heights are men recognising all by their mark. And they called to the companions of the Jannah: Peace be upon you. They have not entered it and they hope

S 17:45 And when you read the Quran we put between you and those who do not believe in the hereafter a concealed screen.

S 19:17 And she took from them a screen. Then we sent to her our spirit and it assumed for her the likeness of a regular man.

S 33:53 Those who have believed, do not enter the prophet’s houses except when permission is given you for food, without waiting for its preparation. But when you are invited, enter, and when you have tasted, disperse and do not seek to remain for hadith. That was harming the prophet and he is shy of you. And Allah is not shy of the truth. And when you ask them for gain, ask them from behind a screen. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts. And it was not for you to harm Allah’s messenger nor to futter his husbands after him ever. That was a horrible thing with Allah.

S 38:32 And he said: I have loved the love of the good over my lord’s dhikr until they were hidden with the hijab.

S 41:5 And they said: Our hearts are in coverings from what you call us to and in our ears there is deafness and between us and you there is a hijab. So work; we are working.

S 42:51 And it was not for a human being that Allah should speak to him except by inspiration or from behind a hijab or that he should send a messenger and inspire with his permission what he wills. He is high, wise.

Today the primary meaning of hijab outside of Arabic-speaking areas is that of an Islamic head covering. This is the secondary meaning. Regarding the head covering, see my posts:
