Isa Son of Maryam

We are repeatedly told that Isa was the son of Maryam.

S 2:87 And we gave Musa the Book and sent the messengers after him. And we gave Isa son of Maryam the proofs and supported him with the Holy Spirit. So has every time a messenger come to you with what your souls do not desire you have been arrogant? So a party you accused of lying and a party you kill.

S 2:253 Those messengers--we preferred some of them to others. Of them he whom Allah spoke to and raised some of them in degrees. And we gave Isa son of Maryam the proofs and supported him with the Holy Spirit. And had Allah willed, those after them would not have fought one another, after what the proofs had come to them. But they differed, so of them is he who believed and of them he who disbelieved. And had Allah willed they would not have fought one another, but Allah does what he wants.

S 3:45 When the angels said: Maryam, Allah gives you good news of a word from him. His name is the Messiah Isa son of Maryam, a dignitary in the dunya and the hereafter and among the Muqarrabun.

S 4:157 And their saying: We killed the Messiah, Isa son of Maryam, the messenger of Allah. And they did not kill him and they did not crucify him but it was made to appear to them. And those who have differed about it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, of a certainty.

S 4:171 People of the Book, do not exceed in your religion nor say about Allah but the truth. The Messiah Isa the son of Maryam is only a messenger of Allah’s and his word which he threw to Maryam and spirit from him. So believe in Allah and his messengers and do not say Three. Cease; it is better for you. Allah is only one god. Praise be to him that he should have a child! His is what is in the skies and what is on the Earth. And Allah was sufficient as an agent.

S 5:17 Disbelieved have those who have said: Allah, he is the Messiah the son of Maryam. Say: Then who dominates against Allah in a thing if he wants to destroy the Messiah the son of Maryam and his mother and all those on the Earth? And Lah’s is the dominion of the skies and the Earth and what is between them. He creates what he wills and Allah is almighty.

S 5:46 And we sent on their tracks Isa son of Maryam, confirming what is in front of him of the Torah, and we gave him the Injil. Therein is guidance and light and confirming what is in front of him of the Torah and guidance and exhortation for the fearers.

S 5:72 Those who have said: Allah, he is the Messiah the son of Maryam, have disbelieved. And the Messiah said: Banu Isra’il, worship Allah, my lord and your lord. He who associates with Allah, Allah has forbidden him the Jannah and his shelter is the fire. And the wrongdoers have no helpers.

S 5:75 The Messiah the son of Maryam is nothing but a messenger. The messengers passed away before him and his mother is truthful. The two of them used to eat food. See how we make the signs clear to them. Then see how deluded they are!

S 5:78 Those who disbelieved of the Banu Isra'il were cursed by the tongue of Dawud and Isa son of Maryam. That was because they disobeyed and used to transgress.

S 5:110 When Allah said: Isa son of Maryam, remember my grace upon you and upon your mother when I supported you with the holy spirit when you speak to the people in the cradle and in middle age. And when I taught you the book and the wisdom and the Torah and the Injil. And when you create from the clay as the form of the bird with my permission and blow into it and it is a bird with my permission and you heal the blind man and the leper with my permission and when you bring out the dead with my permission. And when I restrained the Banu Isra’il from you when you brought them proofs and those who disbelieved of them said: This is nothing but obvious magic.

S 5:112 When the Hawariyun said: Isa son of Maryam, is your lord able to send down to us a table from the sky? He said: Fear Allah if you are believers.

S 5:114 Isa son of Maryam said: Allahumma our lord, send down upon us a table from the sky being for us a festival for the first of us and the last of us and a sign from you. And provide us, and you are the best of providers.

S 5:116 And when Allah said: Isa son of Maryam, did you say to people, Take me and my mother as two gods instead of Allah? He said: Glory to you! It was not for me to say what I had no right to. If I had said it, you would have known. You know what is in my soul but I do not know what is in your soul. You are the knower of the ghuyub.

S 9:31 They have taken their rabbis and their monks as lords instead of Allah and the Messiah the son of Maryam. And they were not commanded but to worship one god. There is no god but him. Glory be to him from what they associate!

S 19:34 That is Isa son of Maryam, the speech of truth which they dispute about.

S 23:50 And we made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign and we sheltered them to a rabwah of calm and a spring.

S 33:7 And when we took from the prophets their covenant and from you and from Nuh and Ibrahim and Musa and Isa son of Maryam and we took from them a thick covenant

S 43:57 And when the son of Maryam was presented as a similitude, behold, your people turn from it.

S 57:27 Then we sent after on their tracks our messengers and we sent after Isa son of Maryam and gave him the Injil. And we put kindness and mercy in the hearts of those who followed him. And monasticism, they innovated it. We did not write it upon them but the seeking of Allah’s pleasure but they did not observe it with its right care. So we gave those who had believed among them their wage and many of them are fasiqun.

S 61:6 And when Isa son of Maryam said: Banu Isra’il, I am Allah’s messenger to you, confirming what is in front of me of the Torah and as one giving the good news of a messenger coming after me, called Ahmad. But when he came to them with the proofsthey said: This is obvious magic.

S 61:14 Those who have believed, be Allah’s helpers, as Isa son of Maryam said to the Hawariyun: Who are my helpers to Allah? The Hawariyun said: We are Allah’s helpers. Then a band of the Banu Isra’il believed and a band disbelieved. So we backed those who believed against their enemy and they became assistants.

In ancient Israel at least a man was named after his father unless his mother was a widow or if his father was unknown. The father of a man is the one who caused the man's mother to fall pregnant. In S 21:91 we read:

And the one who guarded her private part and we blew into her from our spirit and we made her and her son a sign to the ‘alamin.

and in S 66:12 And Maryam daughter of Imran who fortified her private part and we blew into it from our spirit. And she believed in her lord’s words and his books. And she was of the obedient.

So who was Isa's father? Allah.

In Islam it is understood that Maryam never married, so if Islam were true, it would mean that Allah made her an unwed mother, exposing her to insults.
