Waraqah ibn Naufal refers to the founder of Islam's visitor as the Namus/namus, a word that means LAW.

Narrated `Aisha:

The Prophet (ﷺ) returned to Khadija while his heart was beating rapidly. She took him to Waraqa bin Naufal who was a Christian convert and used to read the Gospels in Arabic Waraqa asked (the Prophet), "What do you see?" When he told him, Waraqa said, "That is the same angel whom Allah sent to the Prophet) Moses {هَذَا النَّامُوسُ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَى مُوسَ This is the Namus that Allah sent down upon Moses}. Should I live till you receive the Divine Message, I will support you strongly."

"Waraqa asked, "O my nephew! What have you seen?" The Prophet (ﷺ) described whatever he had seen. Waraqa said, "This is the same Namus (i.e., Gabriel, the Angel who keeps the secrets) whom Allah had sent to Moses {هَذَا النَّامُوسُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ عَلَى مُوسَى This is the Namus that was sent down upon Moses}. I wish I were young and could live up to the time when your people would turn you out."

"Waraqa b. Naufal said: O my nephew! what did you see? The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), then, informed him what he had seen, and Waraqa said to him: It is namus that God sent down to Musa {هَذَا النَّامُوسُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ عَلَى مُوسَ This is the Namus that was sent down upon Moses}.

How is he in a position to give a name to it? And is he supposedly 'The Namus' or 'A namus'? And why is it called 'LAW'? And where did he get this title from?
