Shades and Shadows

S 2:57 And we shaded the clouds over you and we sent down the manna and the quail upon you. Eat of good things what we have provided you. And they did not wrong us but they were wronging themselves.

Muslims will look at the passage in St Luke in which the Holy Spirit overshadows St Mary and claim that it is having relations with her. In the verse above, the cloud overshadows the Israelites. Is it having relations with them?

S 2:210 Are they waiting except for Allah to come to them in shadows of the clouds, and the angels, and the matter was preordained? And to Allah the matters return.

S 4:57 And those who have believed and have done good deeds, we shall admit them to jannat, rivers running beneath them, abiding therein forever. Theirs therein are purified husbands and we admit them to shady shade.

S 7:160 And we cut them into 12 tribes, nations. And we inspired Musa when his people asked him for a drink: Strike the stone with your staff. Then 12 springs spouted from it. All people knew their drinking place. And we shaded the clouds over them and sent down the manna and the quail upon them. Eat of good things what we have provided you. And they did not wrong us but they were wronging themselves.

S 13:15 And to Lah do sujud those in the skies and the Earth, willingly and unwillingly, and their shadows in the morning errand and the late afternoons.

S 13:35  The similitude of the Jannah which the fearers have been promised, rivers run beneath it. Its food is lasting and its shade. That is the result of those who have feared and the result of the kafirun is the fire.

S 16:48  Have they not looked to what Allah has created of a thing? Its shadows incline from the right and the lefts, doing sujud to Lah while lowly.

Lefts?

S 16:81 And Allah has made for you shadows from what he has created and has made for you of the mountains shelters and has made for you garments to protect you from the heat and garments to protect you from your horribleness. Thus does he perfect his grace upon you; perhaps you will surrender.

Did Allah create shadows from creation?

S 2545 Have you not looked at your lord, how he has extended the shadow? And had he willed he would have made it stationary. Then we made the sun a particular piece of evidence for it.

Looked at your lord?

S 26:189 But they accused him of lying so torture of the day of sunshade took them. It was torture of a great day.

S 28:24 So he watered for them then turned away to the shade and said: Lord, I am poor of what you have sent down to me of good.

S 31:32 And when a wave like shadows covered them they invoked Allah being sincere towards him in religion. But when he saved them to the land, among them one frugal. And none renounces our verses but every treacherous, ungrateful man.

S 35:21  Nor the shade nor the heat.

S 36:56 They and their husbands in shadows, reclining on couches.

S 39:16 Theirs above them are shades of the fire and below them shades. That does Allah frighten his slaves with. Slaves! So fear me!

S 56:30 And extended shade

S 56:43 And a shade from a fumarole,

S 76:14 And close by over them are its shadows and its bunches have been reduced as a reducing.

S 77:30 Rush to a shadow of three clefts,

S 77:31 Not shady nor availing against the flame.

S 77:41 The fearers are in shadows and springs
