S 2:124 And when his lord tested Ibrahim with words and he fulfilled them he said: I am making you a leader for people. He said: And of my offspring? He said: My covenant does not reach the wrongdoers.

S 2:155 And we will test you with something of fear and hunger and shortage of monies and souls and fruits. And give good news to the patient.

S 2:249 Then when Talut left with the troops he said: Allah is testing you with a river. So he who has drunk from it is not of me and he who has not tasted it is of me except him who has scooped up a quantity with his hand. Then they drank from it except a few of them. Then when he crossed it, he and those who had believed with him, they said: We have no strength today against Jalut and his troops. Those who thought that they were meeting Allah said: How many of a small band defeated a large band with Allah’s permission? And Allah is with the patient.

S 3:152 And Allah verified his promise to you when you kill them with his permission until when you lost heart and contended concerning the command and disobeyed after what he showed you what you love. Among you is he who wants the dunya and among you he who wants the hereafter. Then he turned you from them to test you. And he pardoned you. And Allah is a possessor of favour for the believers.

S 3:154 Then he sent down upon you after the grief security--drowsiness covering a band of you and a band whose souls distressed them, thinking of Allah other than the truth. The thought of the Jahiliyyah, saying: Do we have anything from the affair? Say: The affair, all of it, is Lah’s. They hide in themselves what they do not reveal to you. They say: If we had something from the affair we would not have been killed here. Say: Had you been in your houses those whom killing was written upon would have gone out to their beds. And that Allah might test what is in your chests and that he might purge what is in your hearts. And Allah is learned in that in the chests.

S 3:186 You shall be tested in your monies and yourselves and hear from those who were given the Book before you and from those who have associated much harm. And if you are patient and fear, that is from the determination of matters.

S 4:6 And test the orphans until when they have reached nikah. Then if you perceive maturity in them then deliver to them their money and do not consume it with profligacy and bidar lest they grow up. And whoever was rich let him show restraint. And whoever was poor let him consume with kindness. So when you deliver to them their money make them testify. And Allah was sufficient as a noble.

S 5:48 And we have sent down to you the book with truth, confirming what is in front of him of the Book and governing over it. So judge between them by what Allah has sent down and do not follow their desires when some of the truth has come to you. For all of you have we made a bill and a curriculum. And had Allah willed he would have made you one nation but to test you in what he has given you. So race to goods. To Allah is all your return then he informs you of what you used to differ in.

S 5:94 Those who have believed, Allah tests you in something of hunting that your hands and your spears get that Allah may know him who fears him in the ghayb. And he who has transgressed after that has painful torture.

S 6:165 And he is the one who made you successors of the Earth and raised some of you above others in degrees to test you in what he has given you. Your lord is quick in punishment and he is a forgiver, merciful.

S 7:163 And ask them about the village that was present by the sea when they transgress concerning the Sabbath, when their whales come to them on their Sabbath day as sails, and on a day they do not keep the Sabbath they do not come to them. Thus do we test them because they were acting immorally.

S 7:168 And he cut them as nations in the Earth. Of them are the righteous and of them without that. And we tested them with the good deeds and the evil; perhaps they will return.

S 8:17 And you did not kill them but Allah killed them. And you did not throw when you threw but Allah threw and to test the believers with a good affliction from him. Allah is a hearer, learned.

S 10:30 There was tested every soul for what it had bestowed and they were returned to Allah their true lord and stray from them did what they used to fabricate.

S 11:7 And he is the one who created the skies and the Earth in six days. And his throne was on the water to test you, which of you is best in deed. But if you say: You are raised after death, those who have disbelieved will say: This is nothing but obvious magic.

S 16:92 And do not be like the one who broke her yarn after strength into undone strands. You take your oaths as a mental defect among you because a nation has grown than a nation. Allah only tests you thereby. And he shall make clear to you on the day of resurrection what you used to differ in.

S 18:7 We made what is on the Earth an ornament for it to test them which of them is best in work.

[S 20:90 And Harun had said to them before: People, you have only been tested by it and your lord is Al-Rahman so follow me and obey my command.] 'Tested' here is from the verb fatana. The verbal noun is fitnah.

S 21:35 Every soul tastes death. And we test you with evil and good as fitnah. And to us are you returned.

S 23:30 In that are signs and indeed we were testing.

S 27:40 The one who had knowledge of the Book said: I shall bring you it before your glance returns to you. Then when he saw it fixed before him he said: This is of my lord’s favour to test me whether I thank or am ungrateful. And he who has thanked, he only thanks for his soul. And he who was ungrateful, my lord is rich, noble.

S 33:11 There the believers were tested and shaken severely.

S 47:4 So when you have met those who have disbelieved strike the necks until when you have weakened them then attach the shackle firmly then either a favour afterwards or a ransom until the war lays its burdens. That. And if Allah willed he would have revenged himself on them but to test some of you by others. And those who have been killed in the way of Allah, he will not cause their deeds to stray.

S 47:31 And we will test you so that we know the mujahidin among you and the patient and test your news.

S 67:2 The one who created death and life to test you, which of you is best in deed. And he is the mighty, the forgiver.

S 68:17 We tested them as we tested the companions of the jannah when they swore to divide it in the morning

S 76:2 We created man from a drop, a mixture, we test him. And we made him a hearer, a seer.

S 89:15 And as for man, when his lord has tested him and honoured him and graced him he says: My lord has honoured me.
