In a number of passages we read of someone or other's woman.

S 3:35 When Imran’s woman said: Lord, I have vowed to you what is in my belly, dedicated. So accept from me. You, you are the hearer, the learned.

S 3:40 He said: Lord, how can I have a boy and bulk has reached me and my woman is infertile? He said: Thus: Allah does what he wills.

S 7:83 So we saved him and his family except his woman. She was of those remaining behind.

S 11:71 And his woman standing and she laughed. Then we gave her good news of Ishaq and behind Ishaq Ya’qub.

S 11:81 They said: Lut, we are your lord’s messengers. They will not reach towards you so travel at night with your family in a part of the night and do not let anyone of you look back except your woman. What has struck them is striking her. Their appointment is the morning. Is the morning not near?

S 12:21 And the one who bought him from Egypt said to his woman: Honour his abode. Perhaps he will benefit us or we shall take him as a child. And thus we gave power to Yusuf in the land and that we might teach him of the interpretation of ahadith. And Allah is victor over his affair but most people do not know.

S 12:30 And women in the city said: Al-Aziz’s woman entices her slave boy from himself. He has impasssioned her with love. We see her in obvious error.

S 12:51 He said: What is your case when you enticed Yusuf from himself? They said: Far be it from Lah! We did not know any evil about him. Al-Aziz’s woman said: Now the truth has come to light. I enticed him from himself and he is of the truthful.

S 15:60 Except his woman. We have determined that she be of the preceding.

S 19:5 I have feared the mawali after me and my woman was infertile. So give me from you a protector

S 19:8 He said: Lord, how can I have a boy when my woman was infertile and I have reached savage old age?

S 27:57 So we saved him and his family except his woman. We determined that she be of the remaining.

S 28:9 And Fir’awn’s woman said: An eye anti-inflammatory for me and for you. Do not kill him. Perhaps he will benefit us or we shall take him as a child. And they do not perceive.

S 29:32 He said: Lut is in it. They said: We know who is in it. We shall save him and his family except his woman. She was of the previous ones.

S 29:33 And when our messengers came to Lut he was troubled because of them and was frustrated because of them. And they said: Do not fear or grieve. We are saving you and your family except your woman. She was of the previous ones.

S 51:29 Then his woman approached clamouring and struck her face and said: An old infertile woman!

S 66:10 Allah has given an example for those who have disbelieved: Nuh’s woman and Lut’s woman. They were under two slaves of our righteous slaves but they betrayed them. So they did not avail anything from Allah. And it was said: Enter the fire with those who enter.

S 66:11 And Allah has given an example for those who have believed: Fir’awn’s woman, when she said: Lord, build me a house with you in the Jannah and save me from Fir’awn and his work and save me from the wrongdoing people.

S 111:4 And his woman the carrier of firewood.

Now it seems to me that the author is using a Syriacism. Syriac, I understand, uses the word 'woman' to stand for 'wife' (or at least in the Syriac NT), as in its sister language Hebrew, in which the word ishshah means 'woman' but also stands for 'wife'. In the Quranic verses we might have expected the word zajwah. Is he using source material that was originally in Syriac?
