Narrated `Aisha:

Three principles were established because of Barira: (i) When Banra was manumitted she was given the option (to remain with her slave husband or not). (ii) Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said "The Wala of the slave) is for the one who manumits (the slave). (iii) When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) entered (the house), he saw a cooking pot on the fire but he was given bread and meat soup from the soup of the home. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Didn't I see the cooking pot (on the fire)?" It was said, "That is the meat given in charity to Barira, and you do not eat the (things given in) charity." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "It is an object of charity for Barira, and it is a present for us."

The word translated "charity" is sadaqah. Quran uses the plural form.

Sadaqat

S 2:264 Those who have believed, do not nullify your alms with largess and harm like the one who spends his money to be seen by people and does not believe in Allah and the last day. Then his similitude is like a rock upon which is dirt then a downpour has struck it and left it hard. They have no power over anything of what they have earned. And Allah does not guide the kafir people.

S 2:271  If you reveal the alms then it was excellent. And if you conceal them and give them to the poor then it is better for you. And he atones for you of your evil deeds. And Allah is an expert in what you do.

S 2:276 Allah annihilates interest and increases the alms. And Allah does not love every immoral ingrate.

S 4:4 And give the women their alms nihlatan. But if they remit to you of anything of it of themselves, then consume it hani’an mari’an.

S 9:58 And among them is he who criticises you concerning the alms. Then if they are given from them they are pleased. But if they are not given from them then they resent.

S 9:60 The alms are only for the poor and the needy and those working for them and those whose hearts are united and for the necks and the debtors and for the way of Allah and the traveller--an obligation from Allah. And Allah is learned, wise.

S 9:79 Those who criticise the willing of the believers concerning the alms and those who do not find except their effort, so they ridicule them. Allah has ridiculed them and theirs is painful torture.

S 9:104 Have they not known that Allah, he accepts repentance from his slaves and takes the alms and that Allah, he is the repenter, the merciful?

S 33:35 The Muslims and the Muslimahs and the male believers and the female believers and the obedient men and the obedient women and the truthful men and the truthful women and the patient men and the patient women and the humble men and the humble women and the mutasadiqun and the mutasadiqat and the fasting men and the fasting women and the male keepers of their privates and the female keepers and the men who remember Allah much and the women who remember has Allah prepared for them forgiveness and a great wage.

S 57:18 The charitable men and women and they have given Allah a good loan. It is doubled for them and theirs is a generous wage.

S 58:13 Have you been scared of offering alms in the presence of your confidential talk? Then when you have not done and Allah has repented for you, then perform salat and give the zakat and obey Allah and his messenger. And Allah is an expert in what you do.

In S 9:104 Allah "takes the alms". Does this mean that Allah lives on alms? Allah supposedly refers to itself as 'we' and 'us'. In the hadith above, the founder of Islam takes what is intended as charity for Barira, referring to himself as "us". Let the reader bear in mind that the author of quran seeks a loan for Allah. Obviously God, which Allah supposedly is, needs no loan. Who seeks it? The founder of Islam.
