Angels and Messengers

S 2:98 He who was an enemy to Lah and his angels and his messengers and Jibril and Mikal, Allah is an enemy to the kafirun.

S 2:285 The messenger has believed in what has been sent down to him from his lord, and the believers. All have believed in Allah and his angels and his books and his messengers. We do not distinguish between any of his messengers. And they have said: We have heard and obeyed. Your forgiveness, our lord, and to you is the destiny.

S 4:136 Those who have believed, believe in Allah and his messenger and the book that he sent down upon his messenger and the Book that he sent down before. And he who disbelieves in Allah and his angels and his books and his messengers and the last day, he has strayed far.

Is a distinction not being made in these verses between angels and messengers?

S 22:75 Allah chooses from the angels messengers and from people. Allah is a hearer, a seer.

S 35:1 Praise be to Lah, splitter of the skies and the Earth, maker of the angels as messengers. Possessors of wings, two and three and four. He increases in creation what he wills. Allah is almighty.

Three-winged angels?

But messengers go only to their people. If there were angels walking securely on Earth, we are told, an angel as a messenger would be sent to it.

S 17:95 Say: Were there on Earth angels walking at ease we would have sent down upon them from the sky an angel as a messenger.

Angels are not necessarily messengers as messengers are chosen from their number. As an angel can only go to an angel, what angels get angel messengers?

S 41:14 When the messengers came to them in front of them and behind them: Not to worship but Allah, they said: Had our lord willed he would have sent angels down. So we are kafirun in what you have been sent with.

Jibril, supposedly an angel, did not come down.

When we read of messengers turning up and telling Ibrahim that they were going to destroy 'the people of this village', they must have been men.
