S 4:171 People of the Book, do not exceed in your religion nor say about Allah but the truth. The Messiah Isa Son Of Maryam is only Allah’s messenger and his word which he threw to Maryam and spirit from him. So believe in Allah and his messengers and do not say Three. Cease; it is better for you. Allah is only one god. Praise be to him that he should have a child! His is what is in the skies and what is on the Earth. And Allah was sufficient as an agent.

Regarding this verse: A Brief Note on S 4:171

This verse speaks of Isa and commands one not to say 'three'. There's no mention of the word Trinity and does not define it.

*S 5:17 Disbelieved {kafara} have those who have said: Allah, he is the Messiah the son of Maryam. Say: Then who dominates against Allah in a thing if he wants to destroy the Messiah the son of Maryam and his mother and all those on the Earth? And Lah’s is the dominion of the skies and the Earth and what is between them. He creates what he wills and Allah is mighty over everything.

Allah is the Messiah? So that would be one. Does the author here think that Maryam was considered as part of the Trinity? In which case, that would be two. If the author thinks that Christians believe that Allah is the Messiah, why does 'Allah' direct him to speak to them of Allah's destroying the Messiah?

*S 5:72-73 Those who have said: Allah, he is the Messiah the son of Maryam, have disbelieved {kafara}. And the Messiah said: Banu Isra’il, worship Allah, my lord and your lord. He who associates with Allah, Allah has forbidden him the Jannah and his shelter is the fire. And the wrongdoers have no helpers. / Those who have said: Allah is the third of three have disbelieved {kafara}. And there is no god but one god and if they have not desisted from saying it, painful torture will touch those who have disbelieved among them.

Again, Allah is the Messiah? That would be one. Allah is the third of three? Who would be the other two? Which is it? Do they think that Allah is the Messiah OR that Allah is the third of three? If there are two sects, what are they?

*See note below.

S 5:116 And when Allah said: Isa son of Maryam, did you say to people, Take me and my mother as two gods instead of Allah? He said: Glory to you! It was not for me to say what I had no right to. If I had said it, you would have known. You know what is in my soul but I do not know what is in your soul. You are the knower of the ghuyub.

Maryam a god and one along with Isa, instead of Allah? And didn't Christians supposedly say that Allah is the Messiah, and the third of three?

*Note: S 5:17 and S 5:72-73 'Have disbelieved'. In S 5:57 we read:

Those who have believed, do not take those who have taken your religion as a quip and a game from those who were given the Book before you and the kuffar as protectors. And fear Allah if you are believers.

As this verse makes a distinction between 'those given the Book' and the kuffar, the disbelievers, how might the author claim this of the Christians, which he probably does?
