The word Jahiliyyah occurs some four times in quran.

S 3:154 Then he sent down upon you after the grief security--drowsiness covering a band of you and a band whose souls distressed them, thinking of Allah other than the truth. The thought of the Jahiliyyah, saying: Do we have anything from the affair? Say: The affair, all of it, is Lah’s. They hide in themselves what they do not reveal to you. They say: If we had something from the affair we would not have been killed here. Say: Had you been in your houses those whom killing was written upon would have gone out to their beds. And that Allah might test what is in your chests and that he might purge what is in your hearts. And Allah is learned in that in the chests.

S 5:50  So is it the judgment of the Jahiliyyah they seek? And who is better than Allah in judgment for people who are certain?

S 33:33  And stay in your houses and do not dress up as the dressing up of the first jahiliyyah. And perform salat and give the zakat and obey Allah and his messenger. Allah only wants to remove rijs from you, household, and to purify you with purification.

The first Jahiliyyah?

S 48:26 When he had put zeal in the hearts of those who had disbelieved, the zeal of the Jahiliyyah. Then Allah sent down his shekhinah upon his messenger and upon the believers and compelled them to the word of taqwa and they had more right to it and were more deserving of it. And Allah was learned in everything.

  • (Can we date this quote?), (please add an English translation of this quotation)

As Abraham and Ishmael were supposedly in Arabia before the founder of Islam's birth, were all Arabs ignorant of Islam? If the former, 'prophets', were Muslims, presuming that they preached, wasn't there Islam in Arabia? What about the rest of the world? Was there a knowledge of Islam everywhere but in Arabia, considering Musa, Isa, etc., supposedly Muslims?
