In this post we shall be looking at occurrences of the word repentance.
S 4:17 Repentance is only on Allah for those who do evil in ignorance then repent soon afterwards. Then those, Allah repents for them and Allah was learned, wise.
Shirk is supposedly the one unforgivable sin in Islam but repentance is only for those who do evil in ignorance and they must repent soon afterwards. So if the evil is committed wittingly or not repented for soon afterwards, it is NOT forgiven.
S 4:18 And repentance is not for those who do evil deeds until when death has come to one of them, he has said: I have repented now. Nor those who die when they are kuffar. Those--we have prepared for them painful torture.
In antiquity, was there ever torture that was not painful?
S 4:92 And it was not for a believer to kill a believer except by mistake. And he who has killed a believer by mistake then the freeing of a believing neck and bloodwit is paid to his family unless they remit as charity. But if he was from a people hostile to you and he was a believer then the freeing of a believing neck. And if he was from a people with a treaty existing between you and them then bloodwit is paid to his family and the freeing of a believing neck. And he who has not found then fasting for two months consecutively, repentance from Allah. And Allah was learned, wise.
In S 2:178 a free man may be killed for a free man, a slave for a slave and a female for a female, These people who are to be murdered for the death of another may well be believers. Islam’s Unjust Punishments: Examining the Quran’s Ruling on the Consequence of Premeditated Murder And it doesn't speak of non-believers.
S 9:104 Have they not known that Allah, he accepts repentance from his slaves and takes the charities and that Allah, he is the repenter, the merciful?
Does Allah need charity?
S 42:25 And he is the one who accepts repentance from his slaves and pardons the evil deeds and knows what you do
S 66:8 Those who have believed, repent to Allah in sincere repentance. Perhaps your lord will atone for you your evil deeds and admit you to jannat, rivers running beneath them, on a day Allah does not disgrace the prophet and those who have believed with him. Their light strives between their hands and in their right hands. They say: Our lord, perfect our light for us and forgive us. You are mighty over everything.
There is some doubt as to whether those who sincerely repent will be forgiven. Allah may or may not atone for their deeds and admit to jannat (plural). 'On a day Allah doesn't disgrace its boss and those who believe with him'? Were there days when it did disgrace him and those who had believed with him?
