S 4:171 People of the Book, do not exceed in your religion nor say about Allah but the truth. The Messiah Isa the son of Maryam is only Allah’s messenger and his word which he threw to Maryam and spirit from him. So believe in Allah and his messengers and do not say Three. Cease; it is better for you. Allah is only one god. Praise be to him that he should have a child! His is what is in the skies and what is on the Earth. And Allah was sufficient as an agent.
The People of the Book, Jews and Christians, are not to exceed in their religion. It doesn't say religions. How many messengers might Allah have at any one time? If one, how might Allah's boss be Allah's messenger? The text doesn't say that Isa was Allah's messenger. If three is in reference to the Trinity, do Jews in general believe in the doctrine? And is it good to say 'three' but it is better not to? Allah was sufficient as an agent? It was once sufficient, but no longer? Whose agent might Allah be?
S 58:22 You do not find a people believing in Allah and the last day having affection for those who have opposed Allah and his messenger even if they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their clan. Those--he has written faith in their hearts and supported them with spirit from him. And he admits them to jannat, rivers running beneath them, abiding therein indefinitely. Allah was pleased with them and they were pleased with him. Those are Allah’s party. Indeed, Allah’s party are the successful.
What is this spirit from him? Might this be Isa?
