Names That You Have Devised

S 7:71 He said: Rijs and anger have fallen upon you from your lord. Do you argue with me concerning names that you have named, you and your fathers? Allah has not sent down any authority for them. So wait. I am with you of those waiting.

S 12:40 You worship nothing instead of him but names that you have named, you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for it. The judgment is nothing but Lah’s. He has commanded that you do not worship but him. That is the worthy religion but most people do not know.

S 53:23  They are nothing but names you have named them, you and your fathers. Allah did not send down any authority for them. They follow nothing but supposition and what their souls have desired. And the guidance has come to them from their lord.

In none of these verses does Allah speak. Where does Allah say that it has given any authority for anything whatsoever including the use of the name Allah, which the pre-Islamic heathens were using?

I don't quite get it!

Allah didn't authorize the naming of previous gods/idols? Yes, of course.

But are you saying that he didn't even authorize the use of the name "Allah"?

Allah was a pre-existing pagan deity? ... some kind of gateway to Hubaal, who was more prominent in the Kaba?

Tks for the reply. In that case, he's a god with no name, which is funny. I guess you've also heard of Al-Lah (you sometimes refer to their god as Lah) ,,, one big happy family -- Al-Lah, Al-Lat, and Al-Uzza
