Ibrahim Passages (Chronological Order)

S 87:19 (8th)  Ibrahim’s and Musa’s sheets.

How might one have any idea what these refer to or have any idea as to who Ibrahim is/was?

S 53:37 (23rd) And Ibrahim who completed?

S 38:45 (38th) And mention our slaves Ibrahim and Ishaq and Ya’qub, the possessors of hands and eyesight.

Mention them where?

S 19:41 (44th) And mention Ibrahim in the book. He was a truthful man, a prophet.

Mention them in quran? He was? So he died? But see below.

'The Book'

S 19:46 He said: Do you have an aversion from my gods, Ibrahim? If you do not cease I will stone you; avoid me mali.

S 19:58 Those are the ones Allah graced of the prophets of Adam’s offspring and of him we carried with Nuh and of Ibrahim’s offspring and Isra’il's and of those we guided and selected. When Al-Rahman’s verses are read to them they fell doing sujud and weeping.

S 26:69 (47th) And read to them the news of Ibrahim,

S 11:69 (52nd) And our messengers came to Ibrahim with the good news. They said: Peace. He said: Peace. And he did not stay to bring a roasted calf.

S 11:74 And when the terror had gone from Ibrahim and the good news had come to him he argues with us concerning Lut’s people.

Ibrahim had a people and his nephew a people?

S 11:75  Ibrahim is clement, a groaner, repentant.

S 11:76  Ibrahim, turn away from this. Your lord’s command has come and a torture is coming to them that is not repelled.

S 12:6 (53rd) And thus does your lord choose you and teach you of the interpretation of the ahadith and complete his grace upon you and upon Ya’qub’s family as he completed it upon your two fathers before, Ibrahim and Ishaq. Your lord is learned, wise.

The interpretation of what ahadith?

S 12:38 And I have followed the cult of my fathers, Ibrahim and Ishaq and Ya’qub. It was not for us to associate anything with Allah. That is of Allah’s favour upon us and upon people but most people are not grateful.

S 15:51 (54th) And inform them about Ibrahim’s guest,

Ibrahim actually has at least three guests. The author's grammar goes awry.

S 6:74 (55th) And when Ibrahim said to his father: Azar! Do you take idols as gods? I see you and your people in obvious error.

Azar?

S 6:75 And thus do we show Ibrahim the kingdom of the skies and the Earth that he may be of the certain.

S 37:83 (56th) And of his faction is Ibrahim.

S 37:104 And we called him: Ibrahim.

S 37:109 Peace is upon Ibrahim.

The verse has been interpreted to mean 'Peace be upon Ibrahim.' Is Allah invoking peace upon him from some deity?

S 42:13 (62nd) He has prescribed for you of the religion what he advised Nuh with and that which we have inspired you with and what we advised Ibrahim and Musa and Isa with. To establish the religion and do not disperse therein. It was hard on the mushrikun what you call them to. Allah picks out for him whom he wills and guides to him who turns.

S 43:26 (63rd) And when Ibrahim said to his father and his people: I am free of what you worship

S 51:24 (67th) Has the hadith of Ibrahim’s honoured guest come to you?

He had at least three guests. Did the author read some 'hadith' about Ibrahim?

Tales

S 16:120 (70th) Ibrahim was a nation, obedient to Lah, a Hanif, and was not of the mushrikun.

Hanif

S 16:123 Then we inspired you: Follow the cult of Ibrahim, a Hanif. And he was not of the mushrikun.

Why does the author feel the need to repeat the claim that Ibrahim was a Hanif and a non-mushrik?

S 14:35 (72nd) And when Ibrahim said: Lord, make this country safe and remove me and my sons that we worship idols.

'Sons' is in the Arabic plural, so three or more. The author uses the plural elsewhere.

S 21:51 (73rd) And we gave Ibrahim his rectitude before and we used to know him.

S 21:60 They said: We heard a youth mentioning them called Ibrahim.

S 21:62 They said: Did you do this to our gods, Ibrahim?

S 21:69 We said: Fire, be cold and peace for Ibrahim.

S 29:16 (85th) And Ibrahim, when he said to his people: Worship Allah and fear him. That is better for you if you know.

Going by the clear and detailed quran, who were his people?

S 29:31 And when our messengers came to Ibrahim with the good news they said: We are destroying the people of this village. Its people were wrongdoers.

S 2:124 (87th) And when his lord tested Ibrahim with words and he fulfilled them he said: I am making you a leader for people. He said: And of my offspring? He said: My covenant does not reach the wrongdoers.

S 2:125 And when we made the House a resort for people and security. And take from the station of Ibrahim a musalla. And we covenanted to Ibrahim and Isma’il: Purify my house for the circumambulators and those devoted and those who bow, those doing sujud.

What's happened to Isaac?

S 2:126 And when Ibrahim said: Lord, make this a secure country and provide its people with fruits, him who has believed of them in Allah and the last day. He said: And he who has disbelieved, I shall amuse him a little then force him to the torture of the fire. And miserable was the destiny.

S 2:127 And when Ibrahim raises the foundations of the House, and Isma’il. Our lord, accept from us. You are the hearer, the learned.

'To raise foundations' in English at least can mean to dig them up.

S 2:130  And who has an aversion from Ibrahim’s cult but he who has stultified himself? And we chose him in the dunya and he in the hereafter is of the righteous.

S 2:132 And Ibrahim imposed it upon his sons, and Ya’qub: My sons, Allah has chosen the religion for you so do not die except when you are Muslims.

Did Allah find Islam and choose it?

Chosen and Approved

S 2:133 Or were you witnesses when death attended Ya’qub, when he said to his sons: What will you worship after me? They said: We shall worship your god and the god of your fathers, Ibrahim and Isma’il and Ishaq, one god. And we are Muslims to him.

Yusuf the Apostate?

S 2:135 And they said: Be Jews or Nasara, to be guided. Say: No, the cult of Ibrahim, a Hanif. And he was not of the mushrikun

S 2:136  Say: We have believed in Allah and what has been sent down to us and what was sent down to Ibrahim and Isma’il and Ishaq and Ya’qub and the tribes and what was given to Musa and Isa and what was given to the prophets from their lord. We do not distinguish between any of them. And we are Muslims to him.

Muslims will say that all the prophets delivered the same message. If the founder of Islam was a prophet, was what was 'sent down' to him (and 'us' (!)) the same thing that was 'sent down' to Ibrahim and co.? As the verse says "what was given to the prophets", were the foregoing prophets? And tribes? (!)

We Make No Distinction Between Messengers

S 2:140 Or do you say: Ibrahim and Isma’il and Ishaq and Ya’qub and the tribes were Jews or Nasara? Say: Are you a knower or is Allah? And who is more unjust than he who has concealed a testimony he has from Allah? And Allah is not unaware of what you do.

S 2:258 Have you not seen the one who argued with Ibrahim concerning his lord because Allah had given him the dominion? When Ibrahim said: My lord is the one who vivifies and puts to death. He said: I vivify and put to death. Ibrahim said: Then Allah brings the sun from the rising place so bring it from the setting place. So the one who had disbelieved was dumbstruck and Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.

S 2:260 And when Ibrahim said: Lord, show me how you vivify the dead. He said: Have you not believed? He said: Yes but that my heart may be confident. He said: Then take four of the bird and incline them towards you then put on every mountain a portion of them then call them; they will come to you striving. And know that Allah is mighty, wise.

S 3:33 (89th) Allah chose Adam and Nuh and Ibrahim’s family and Imran’s family over the ‘alamin.

Adam was chosen from...?

S 3:65 People of the Book, why do you argue concerning Ibrahim when the Torah and the Injil were not sent down except after him? So do you not comprehend?

S 3:67  Ibrahim was not a Jew nor a Nasrani but a Hanif, a Muslim, and was not of the mushrikun.

S 3:68 The first man of the people with Ibrahim are those who have followed him, and this prophet and those who have believed. And Allah is the protector of the believers.

The grammar's a little off.

Was the Founder of Islam a Believer?

S 3:84  Say: We have believed in Allah and what was sent down upon us and what was sent down upon Ibrahim and Isma’il and Ishaq and Ya’qub and the tribes and what was given to Musa and Isa and the prophets from their lord. We do not distinguish between any of them and we are Muslims to him.

Did they deliver the same message?

S 3:95 Say: Allah has told the truth so follow the cult of Ibrahim a Hanif. And he was not of the mushrikun.

As Allah is 'the best of the deceivers', how might one know that Allah has told the truth?

S 3:97 Therein are clear signs, the Station of Ibrahim, and he who entered it was safe. And Lah’s, upon people is the Hijj of the House, he who was able a way to it. And he who has disbelieved, then Allah is rich from the ‘alamin.

Here the versions vary between the form Hijj and the form Hajj.

The Rich

S 33:7 (90th) And when we took from the prophets their covenant and from you and from Nuh and Ibrahim and Musa and Isa son of Maryam and we took from them a thick covenant

So were the author, Nuh, Ibrahim, Musa and Isa not prophets?

S 60:4 (91st) You had a good exemplar in Ibrahim and those with him when they said to their people: We are exempt from you and from what you worship instead of Allah. We have renounced you and enmity and hatred has appeared between us and you forever until you believe in Allah alone. Except the speech of Ibrahim to his father: I will ask for forgiveness for you and I do not possess for you against Allah a thing. Our lord, in you we have put our trust and to you we have turned and to you is the destiny.

S 4:54 (92nd) Or do they envy people for what Allah has given them from his favour? But we gave Ibrahim’s family the Book and the Wisdom and we gave them a great dominion.

S 4:125  And who is better in religion than he who has surrendered his face to Lah and he is a good-doer and has followed the cult of Ibrahim a Hanif? And Allah took Ibrahim as a friend.

S 4:163 We have inspired you as we inspired Nuh and the prophets after him and we inspired Ibrahim and Isma’il and Ishaq and Ya’qub and the tribes and Isa and Ayyub and Yunus and Harun and Sulayman and we gave Dawud a Zabur.

Was Nuh not a prophet? Were the others named? What is or was a zabur?

Zabur/Zubur

S 4:83 And that is our argument. We gave it to Ibrahim against his people. We raise by degrees whom we will. Your lord is wise, learned.

S 4:161  Say: I, my lord has guided me to a straight path, a worthy religion, the cult of Ibrahim, a Hanif. And he was not of the mushrikun.

S 57:26 (94th) And we sent Nuh and Ibrahim and put in their offspring the prophethood and the Book and among them is one guided and many of them are fasiqun.

S 22:26 (103rd)  And when we nominated for Ibrahim the place of the house, Do not associate with me anything and purify my house for the circumambulators and the standers and the bowers and the sujud-doers.

S 22:43 And Ibrahim’s people and Lut’s people

S 22:78 And wage jihad for Allah with his due jihad. He has selected you and has not put upon you in the religion any difficulty. The cult of your father Ibrahim. He named you Muslims before and in this, that the messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over people. So establish salat and give zakat and hang on to Allah. He is your mawla. So excellent was the mawla and excellent the helper.

Mawla can mean either a master or an emancipated slave.

Jihad

Allah, Master or Slave?

S 9:70 (113th) Has the news of those before them not come to them, Nuh’s people and Ad’s and Thamud’s and Ibrahim’s people and the companions of Madyan and the mu’tafikat? Their messengers came to them with the proofs. And Allah would not wrong them but they were wronging themselves.

Who Were Noah's People?

S 9:114 And there was no asking for forgiveness by Ibrahim for his father except that he had made a promise to him. But when it became clear to him that he was an enemy to Lah, he disowned him. Ibrahim is ah, clement.

Why is the author, supposedly Allah, exclaiming 'Ah!'? And Is Ibrahim still alive?
